Wisniewski makes a big step forward towards the title

New teams and new faces could be found on the grid for this race. With Starlite Racing and SK Gaming, who lured Carsten Hörenbaum away from spdo Racing, two new teams faced the second part of the saison. With Silhanek dropping out for this race, spdo had a complete new line-up with Reno Kööts and Dmitri Tsubenko, while Sascha Riegler drives now for Sonicrealms Racing after just one race for Xcite Dragon Racing before the summer break. For some of them the race was shorter than they imagined, but we start from the beginning.

The qualifying was as usual a matter of how much fuel will the drivers take with them. After a few drivers had forgotten the rules after such a long time the second part started and three drivers spun in their second try in the chicane. But everyone recovered and Matthias Agari could finally celebrate his first real pole-position this year after he already made it at the Aston North Race earlier this season. He was followed by championship contenders Adam Wisniewski and Nelson Marques. With Juvani and Kööts two newcomers made it into the top 10, but couldn’t make it further than positon nine and ten. Sascha Riegler started from the pits, but maybe this was a great idea to avoid any collisions at the start.

But the chicane wasn’t the dangerous spot on the track, the biggest accident took place just after the start, when Matthias Felix released the throttle on the banked right and Carsten Hörenbaum couldn’t avoid the car and drove into the back of the 1stBFA car. After they both spun and luckily most of the drivers found a way past them, Ian Maslen hit Hörenbaum’s car that went up and against the fence. With that wreckage the race was over for Hörenbaum. Later at the real Turn one Damon Ryder and Juvani couldn’t decide which one will go first into the chicane so both touched each other, leaving Juvani retire after getting stuck in the gravel. One turn later Kööts slides off the track as well but can continue his race while Anton Moroz has to give up with technical problems in Starlite Racings first OWRL event.

Agari led the field while Wisniewski could take the second position back from Peter Hopkins in the early stages of the race, while Nelson Marques dropped a few position after running wide in the chicane. Agari made his pit stop very early compared to Wisniewski who stayed out six laps longer and took over the lead when he rejoined the track after his first pit stop. Behind those three both SpeedCore drivers were constantly following them until Pedro Marques lost touch after a little mistake by him before the first stop. Riegler and Kööts were still on a two-stop strategy, but with a long first stint that gave Riegler the lead for a few laps just before half-time. When the second round of pit stops arrived the top three spots were almost fixed, but Marques had to stop early for his second visit at the pits to give Riegler a chance to come out in front of him. Fourteen laps later he went into the pits and after a short stop he rejoined in front of Marques, while Kööts stayed behind them on sixth.

Although the gaps were still relatively small after more than one hour racing, the order stayed at the front. Wisniewski won the the race two seconds in front of Agari, followed by both Sonicrealms drivers Hopkins and Riegler. Nelson Marques loses track of Wisniewski with a fifth place and Kööts finishes with a sixth place in the points. Matthias Felix crosses the line as seventh and one lap behind the leader and Matt Maslen finally scores the first points for Maslen F1 racing.
Wisniewski has now a lead of 14 points, 1stBFA in the team championship is 29 points ahead of their opponents. The next race will take place at Blackwood Reversed in just one week on 12 September.
