Following a grueling 2013 Kyoto 500 at the end of June, the streets of South City greet the LFSCART Series once again, this time for 80 laps. No runoff, armco right to track's edge make this a challenging circuit for overtaking. Mistakes can be punished heavily here, but a safe and consistent race can pay huge dividends come chequered flag time.
Series Championship Leader Jesse Telkkala will be unable to compete in most of the remaining rounds of the championship, after an incident deemed to be reckless driving and unsporting at the conclusion of the Kyoto 500. He was issued a two-month ban which will be in effect through 29 August 2013. Martin Kapal sits second, but will be unable to attend this round and the following round due to real-life conflicts. With the top two in the championship gone for at least two rounds each, those behind have a great chance to catch up and overtake then with 4 rounds remaining in the season. Over ten drivers are in good mathematical position just after the midpoint of the season.
