Progress report of 2011

Dear LFS Racers,

We hope you had a good year in 2011. In June we released 0.6B, the best version of LFS so far. Since then we have been continuing to work towards the new tyre model and the S3 upgrade which we plan to release after the physics update.

CityLiga 14 is completed...

..and its finale lived up to its expectations. For the last meeting of the season, the competitors visited Westhill to beat the NGTs around the reversed configuration - or better not beating it around that track due to the very own problems of this car class, the tyre wear. The provided black gold by Live for Speed is either to weak to withstand the forces these dwarfs produce or tend to fall victim to the boredom and freeze over.

OWRL MRT Cup brings joy after Christmas

While many may be in the mood for Christmas, we are looking forward to when that is over, as that means we get to compete in the MRT Cup. This OWRL tradition starts right after Christmas and takes us into the new year. We found three open layouts that look exciting to race on. The season starts at Aston Cup, a combination from Club and Cadet, then moves to Fern Bay Cup which gives the Club layout a bit extra lenght and variety. The winner of the cup will be decided at the infield of Kyoto, as Kyoto North is our first 2012 event.

The OWRL started in 2004 as a MRT only league.

spdo's Reno opens season with a strong win in round 1

The inaugural round of the All-wheel-drive Winter Series was held in slippery and bumpy Blackwood Rallycross track with the powerful FXO GTR. 14 drivers came for this challenge and 8 of them managed to beat 1 minute mark in qualifying, which was won by estonian Reno, who lapped this 1.8 km track in 58.05 seconds.

The 3-wide starting grid at this track already meant that contact in turn one will be unavoidable - a lot of cars were shoved wide, followed by recovery tries, which led to even more contacts in next few turns.

Drifting is fun, as you see more than on a straight run...

..a rhyme, not only giving a good description of drift events, but also giving a good idea of how round 6 of City Liga 14 was like. But in case of XRTs driftig around South City, there is not much you can see in addition to driving regulary as the buildings prevent to find new horizons. Also speed and tyres are victims of this style of driving a car. Instead of showing the perfect drift, avoiding it became the most important factor to master the 60 minutes around the Town Course.

Kyoto 225 Taken by Isaac Price while Elton Chong and Tiger Express take Championships

Kyoto 225 Race Recap
Elton Chong proved his dominance so well that he didn't even need to attend the final race of the World TBO Championship Series, so he just didn't. This left the field wondering who would step up and prove their abilities on the quick Kyoto National circuit, and even before the race started a driver had stepped into those shoes, and it was Isaac Price of the LowLandLions in his number 97 XRT.
