20th Anniversary!

Hello Racers,

It is the 20th anniversary of Live for Speed becoming well known! According to various sources, it was on 18th August 2002 that Demo Test 0.04k first became known to more than a few people. It was very exciting to see the reaction to this new racing simulator that seemed to have appeared from nowhere and was quite different to what was available at the time.

Hello Racers,

The list of events now shows a countdown to a live stream if it will start within an hour. The number of racers on an event's host is now displayed, either during the event or when it is open for practice. A lock icon is shown if you will need a password to join.

New LFS version 0.7C

Hello Racers,

We have released a new update with some useful improvements. The most noticeable thing is a new entry screen which shows a list of upcoming events from the calendar. Community members run individual racing events and championships every week but you might not know about them unless you visited our calendar page. Now they are presented each time you start LFS.

New LFS version 0.7B

Hello Racers,

It is nearly two months since the release of the new mods system which has been very popular and well supported by the community. We have made a lot of improvements in LFS since then and you can now get them in a new patch, 0.7B.

New LFS version 0.7A

Hello Racers,

We have always wanted to support user created content in Live for Speed. We thought it could be done after the new version release, with the new physics. That would have been ideal but there is a lot of demand for mods and we started to look into it this year.

Progress Report: South City, part 3

Hello Racers,

It has been a while so we'd like to tell you what we've been doing and some plans. You may have been expecting a report about Fern Bay. But Eric had so many ideas for new ways to link up roads at South City he wasn't ready to stop. The result: more roads and variety than any of us had expected!

This one still uses the same physics system as the public version it replaces, but allows a wider range of setup options for some of the cars.

Extra areas and scenery are being added and roads are being opened increasing the possibilities of extra configurations.

In the August and September progress reports we talked about the new shadows and lighting system and showed pictures of the updates on the Blackwood and Rockingham tracks. All our tracks must be updated to use the new lighting system and some older tracks need more changes to bring them up to date. Aston is one of them and is the subject of this month's report.

New Version 0.6P

Hello Racers,

It has been an interesting month for Virtual Reality, with the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets now being shipped to customers. Live for Speed is so good to use in VR, it was our top priority to make sure it works with the new headsets and latest software. The result is our latest version, 0.6P, which you can now download. We also worked a lot on controller support. More game controllers and steering wheels are now set up automatically and multiple controller setups are also much better supported.
