Description
A classic 1930's French FWD getaway roadster
Lemon Jones is a roadster version of a famous French sedan Lemon Adieu. With a front wheel drive, a synchronized gearbox, a rack-and-pinion steering and a monocoque body, it was a real revolution and even at the end of a production it was one of the most technically advanced vehicles on the market. The front wheels are sprung independently using torsion bars. The rear wheels are mounted on a beam axle also using torsion bars. Famous for its extraordinary road-holding abilities and low weight, this car quickly became a popular choice of both police and gangsters.
Trivia
The mod is based on a 1930s car used in a movie. However, the bonnet looks like a model from 1950s and windshield is not foldable, so it looks like the car was made specially for the movie by cutting a 1950s sedan.
Realism note
Despite movie visuals, the technical specification of the mod is based on a 1939 roadster. A suggested force feedback value is 50. While the front axle is realistically replicated using technical drawings, the rear axle is roughly approximated because the LFS currently does not support beam axles. The approximation using double wishbone is designed to follow camber changes of a real beam axle when cornering. Of course, the car is little easier to drive over bumps than IRL. Historic French wheel size is not supported too and wheel had to be tweaked a little to preserve the historic tire diameter.
Windshield wipers can be moved using the following command:
Making derivatives
The mod is a good base for some future hot rods. If you are going to make one, please add your own custom style and do not make sleepers.
