CHORUS ATTENDANZE XT-Z 4R

Right,

After at one point finding my self having fun more with this Bug Wagon than my 'new' UF, I decided do make a new car from scratch, within kei class.

It's 659cc turbocharged I4 engine powering all wheels with 63 horsepower and 74 Nm of torque (26 Nm less than real life, couldn't manage to get that much atm) and it (apparently) revs up to 9500 rpm. Car weights 740 kg.

Body work state is currently like something out of 1990 3D racing video game with overly detailed front and rear bumpers. Rims are temporary placeholder.

I was going to ask "Why 4WD?" but apparently that existed.
Will it be stock or maybe mild race version? Maybe not full cage, just bit cleared out interior etc.

Yeah, there's really not much happened. Mostly trying to figure out how car is supposed to drive and what I can and can't do so there was quite some digging into what this little box is all about, with my lack of skills to use Google/Youtube/whatever.

Driving it with steering wheel is the hardest part because mental problems - between past midnight and early morning is the only time I can really start driving with wheel.

And while car was pretty easy to drive with kbs (because it always was tested with keyboard until like couple of months ago), what I'm doing is to actually make it *worse* to drive. Still pretty much driveable for my poor fingers and, of course, my poor hands.

Anyway, suspension thing,


Car will have 32° maximum lock with 1080° wheel turn. Maybe I set the road setups abit too soft. Hard Track will be about twice as stiff.
Compromise has to be taken for sake of driveability (fixing broken FFB).

On the other hand, I tried abit of texturing (and more minor bodywork update)

Backseat is (mostly) fixed by... not moving the backseat. Instead I moved the passenger in the animation editor, so no handling changes.

Amazing! I find LFSE is very uncomfy in such tasks as breaking the edges and smoothing my models. It's unbelievable how you did all the job in LFSE...

And yeah. I use a noise effect to make/generate the pattern, just to see a little quicker how the seat to look like (one might think why the heck it looks like granite or something).

I think the indicator bars should be orange.

I found the seats' textures kinda sad looking but now you've shown the real counterpart, you've made a great job.

The only suggestion I can make is mirror the front left seat pattern to match with the rear (if possible?).

Figured out how to use "u_" on mapping names so, yes (almost, because side mappings don't seem to like it especially when angled).
And the patterns stay on LHD as well.

Been messing with rough Vshine/overlay materials.

So basically the progress got lagged for something not actually working yet in-game. (And not really a progress as outcome looks *exactly* the same anyway... almost)

But I did bodywork skin mapping a while ago atleast.

Materials with roughness are part of the new graphics system, and they rely on special shaders that are not easy to reproduce in the old system.

I have prepared an object that shows all possible types of material and can do a comparison between how they appear in the new system (editor) and the old system (current public LFS) and I have planned to do a video on this. I'll try to get that done.

Yeah, noticed something wrong around there when texturing the... vent? bonnet-windshield vent? And then "wth I did that?!" Thinking for a while and decided to go on anyway, along with making alp channel later for the non-working rough vshine/overlay things.

Unless reworking some of the textures, the only fix I could think is flattening the middle bit of the dashboard and bonnet by couple of cm or so.

No real progress to post because I haven't made one (other than few bare fixes, 8JFZ does have abit coming up tho).

Seat badge with lowest possible effort. Always ended up looking bland when matching the actual colour so I picked bright background instead. Seat badges and plates are skinnable.



Also attached an interior comparison just to show how much far off from the real thing, either I manage to not dig up enough references or I'm just crap or something. But anyway...

So other than those error and mismatches inside-outside and quick fix(es) and stuff, '97/'98 car is pretty much ready really (pending FWD version).


Now, hands up for those who actually want to drive this thing.

Awesome car! You really gotta rev it to bits and push as hard as you can to get the most performance out of it and still barely break the speed limits it's awesome! Just the kind of car I love driving/racing!

Loving the mod so far. The steering ratio seems a bit low to me (especially with how much caster there is -- turning feels far too weighty yet numb) but I'm not certain what is realistic for these Kei cars. Gut just figured they wouldn't need so much wheel turn and force applied.

Other than that, I can't find any faults except maybe that the centre console has a few bits that seem a bit too shiny. I'm not even sure if they're visible outside of VR. Very nice mod!

That's why I look forward for power steering option. Thought ffb feels just kind of fair enough when compared to something like XFG (while it's supposed to be "boosted"), but I honestly don't have any plan/intention of doing suspension geometry overhaul atm.


Yeah, current front wheel lock setting came from minimum turning circle kerb-to-kerb while making u-turn maneuver,
which 32 deg. looking quite close to actual spec of 9.4m (further off by 10 cm but steering wheel is supposed to be still able to turn more than 1080 lock-to-lock).

If it's while making full circular turn kerb-to-kerb, 35 would be the number.
Taking extra steering wheel movement into account (+-20 degrees one side => +-1120 lock-to-lock as max value can't go over 1080), it would be somewhere between 33 or 34.

That's by screencapture reference with measurement using paint editor and phone's gyro. But any better reference would be much appreciated.

(Better not be confused between front "wheel" and steering "wheel" because I apparently am, while writing this)

There's also changes to steering setup, as I keep learning what turning circle is. So it's gonna have max. front wheel lock of 35° (road defaults will have 33° front wheel and 1056° steering wheel), and slightly lower caster.

'94-'95 config has 2-tone colour. Now I'm having trouble of putting the default skins on.

So there's a slight physics changes as I managed to come across a service manual pdf of ordinary 2WD Cuore (in German language, haven't managed to find Avanzato manual).

Caster & inclination are the ones I figured out. Not sure about similarity/difference between models, but for the moment I just slapped those number into my head anyway and moved that [ T ] bearing accordingly. The rest remain unchanged.

Front track is what bugging me quite abit tho (being taller than the R), but I stick to what currently set (which is what the lower trims have).

Probably not that light weight, but the steering should now feel less weighty (probably crappier if you're hard racing kind of ffb type).

Of course slight change to handling, so any feedback are appreciated.




And something coming in progress is this sort of special model with misplaced antique style light units & chromes. It's based of Classic model (and it's really called "Classic"). This was stuck in my head for ages until this new headlight features came up.

Just for grid variety because why not.

And stick to 3-door because starting modelling 5-door would take forever.


And yea, update for LFS 0.7E includes working fog lights and updated dashboard (with some nonexisting warning lights added).

Regarding the steering feel, is that the correct caster 2.5?

Mass test will happen on 3rd march as this car is selected for 6th round of AWS2024!
