Description
90s budget Czech hatchback
Lets celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Škoda Felicia with a licensed Live for Speed mod!
The Škoda Felicia was a popular small vehicle produced between 1994 and 2001. It was the first new model after the Velvet Revolution and was an immediate success. The car chassis was inherited from its predecessor but design, ride comfort, and safety features were completely overhauled. Cheap and reliable, Felicias soon became the most common vehicles on Czech roads.
This mod is a tribute to my first car, the 1997 Škoda Felicia LX. It was a basic entry-level model (quite spartan) and it did not have power-steering, ABS and a front sway bar in a comparison to better-equipped Felicias. A basic engine was quite underpowered but the communicative chassis exaggerated the sensation of speed in a very enjoyable way. Thanks to a low weight (and absence of the front sway bar) the car was ideal for dirt roads and even for mild off-roading. Despite high body-roll, the steering was communicative and precise. A rear inner wheel used to lift up in the air on the limit (which was quite scary), but the car always remained predictable (and surprisingly agile with a set of good tires).
Realism note
The mod is tuned according to technical specifications obtained from Škoda repair manuals and my personal IRL driving experience. The spring stiffness and damping are slightly tweaked to approximate suspension preload and rubber stops. For a realistic experience (without power-steering) the force feedback should be set to 80 - 100.
The mod is suitable for slow tracks, an entry level rallycross and cruise. It is mostly dedicated to Škoda fans and LFS players who like to drive slow cars fast. For some raw 90s rally experience, there is a much faster Kit Car version.
Special thanks
I would like to thank to very nice people from Škoda Auto a.s. who helped me to get an official license for this mod.
