Nope no sarcasm, very open to opinions at the moment, never seen anything but main cities in Aus, so I don't know what's good and shit
Shit would probably be good to me anyway cause I don't know any better. But I think Monaco GP will be awesome, would have been better with the v10's or even v8s, but hey, its free!
Blackpool looks awesome! We are going to London for 3nights/4day (1 written off for travel).. Would love to go to Blackpool, but is it worth catching a train there and back for a day (and night)?
Thanks everyone for all the information! There was so much given, really appreciate it.
We have decided to do both Rome AND London. We couldn't decide and thought, What the hey!.. We've chosen to see Tower of Pisa in Italy, so thanks Becky!
So our trip will be:
Monaco GP/Nice
Rome
Barcelona
London
Paris
and now adding Dubai.. she wants to visit Dubai and I thought it would be great to see Ferrari World/drive a F300 Yas car around Yas Marina.
I don't post here too much these days, but I always follow around checking threads out. I am in a bit of a pickle and thought I'd come here for some advice.
I have never been overseas. I have no clue what its like to be on a plane for more than 2 hours. I have no idea about travel.
Recently, Me and my partner won a trip to the 2015 Monaco GP. So excited! Should be great! Its 4 nights in Nice, France with tickets to the GP weekend and a day or 2 after. However, we thought, why not extend the trip at our expense and travel Europe. My partner has travelled many times before, but never Europe, so she is new to Europe as well!
We extended the trip to two weeks in total as we cant spend all the time in the world (work/study etc) and dont want to go overboard in spending money, though we arn't trying to be cheap. She would LOVE to see Paris, and I'm happy to go there too, So we decided to leave from Paris when coming back home. We decided to go to Barcelona after Monaco as we have friends who went there and said it was great including the night life. So we have planned 3 nights in both Barcelona and Paris. That leaves us pretty much 3 days to choose somewhere else or to extend Barca/Paris a few days each.
We have on the table, either London or Rome. I'm assuming both have different atmospheres and it comes down to what we want, but does anyone have any feedback? Does anyone recommend anywhere else? Does anyone have bad experiences at either? Does anyone Live in either and can give any information?
Kvyat in the no.2 seat getting the seat warm for Mr. Max Verstappen!
Experienced drivers need commitment, not as easy using and chewing up a world class driver compared to a new guy. Surely Verstappen is locked in for 2016 as long as he does reasonably well.
I suppose Ive over analysed the situation on the weekend with Sutil.
When it comes to me racing (only karting) I'm that kid when getting flipped and concussed, still choose to keep racing in the heats and spending whatever I must to replace all the components for the next heats. I've raced with fractured ribs and slipped discs (just came out of spine surgery from racing ) The way I think in regards to others, I don't want a single mark on others. I guess it probably contradicting. I guess I had that phase where they are racing, or doing flags, they have made their choice to be there, but now I guess I got a very soft spot for others.
Sorry to ask a question directly to you. I felt a open wheel driver can relate more to the GP than myself. Sorry about your brother, I can perhaps somewhat relate with my father. I guess I want the dangerous, risky, silly, life of racing all to myself and let everyone around me race in bubble wrap and caution. Perhaps I just make no sense!
That's a valid point and I was waiting for someone to say that. Technically I could say not even 0.1% is worth it, but the amount of risk we take in everyday life goes well past 0.1%.
But to your question, I could potentially say, No risk is worth it, allowing you to question, well technically a safety car should be out for every time debris is on the track as a marshal has to run on the course which is a potential risk and so on.
So it would be up to race control, as it is now. As i said, it was fine with double yellows, but for caution and safety, on that corner, at those cornering speeds there's a not bad chance if a driver spins, they could seriously hurt a marshal. But I say that in my chair at home, the marshals were there, they could have been told there's plenty of time to move it etc making it fine.
As a F3 driver yourself, you would have far greater experience than most around here on a high speed race meet. Out of interest, How would you have taken that while racing?
IMO the car was fine to get taken off with double yellows, no one got hurt. But the what if factor mentioned shouldn't be risked for marshals. They don't get paid millions and arnt superstars living the life for themselves, they are doing this out of purely passion and to help put on a show.
Normally the SC would have been out in this condition. Normally when its borderline, the SC comes out, even when its yeah, double yellows COULD be fine, lets bring out the SC anyway. Just in case.
95% of the time, the marshals will be fine under double yellows on these situations..That 5% isn't worth it for a marshal.
Maybe if we asked the marshals, they would have laughed and said why a SC? Maybe they didnt mind, but for the majority of fans and viewers, no one wants to see a marshal killed.... maybe they wanted a SC and were cursing. Who knows really.
Well when someone comes around that corner with wheel spin or losses it over the kerbs and hits a marshal, then peoples opinions will change. Its called a "Safety" car for a reason.
You cant "hope" and "expect" for marshals and drivers to be safe. That's someones husband, parent, son etc. And what would some say to that statement, "well they should know the risks of being a marshal"? "They knew what they were getting into"?
Driver safety is of course important, but I cant help but feel a marshals is just as,if not more important. (more in the sense they are not in cockpits/$10k helmets)
There should have been a safety car, because if that was someone they knew and/or loved that got hit/killed from a car losing control, you'd damn race control for not having the safety car out.
Edit: (Yes I know I'm talking extreme cases, but you just never know!)
I am/was a Massa Fan.. He is an idiot!! I know I am here and he is making millions, but it doesnt take a genius to admit to mistakes and accept them. Put racing and knowledge aside, but VERY poor attitude! Racing incident my ass!
Bit of one of those anti Hamilton fans that pay him out all the time..though he was robbed and did an awesome race! No SC near the end was an obvious reason "we all know why" and he wasn't outspoken, stating the truth!
I will say though as an anti current formula fan,
Best race in a long time! If bad sounds and dildo noses produce this kind of racing, bring on mute engines and extra large dildos!!
Well what is truly the big deal... like, why not? Other motorsports do it. Im trying to think why it would be a problem. It would increase performance and racing at those certian events. People will push more and work harder for the double points rounds. It adds more prize to win them. It gives F1 more of a rush on the weekend cause everone wants the whopping 50 points.
Points.. car numbers.. penalties.. low nose cones.. stepped noses.. v6t engines.. not sound as good as awesome v12/v10 engines... winge winge winge winge winge winge
Does this shit really matter? Are there really people out there who decide if they watch the sport over these issues?
The only issues are nursing cars for 2 hours. In all of time and history and forms of motorsport, there must be management of tyres and fuel during a race (most forms of racing, dont get up me), but the tyres at the moment are silly, thats as far as it goes.
Ill still watch F1 as i watch all forms of motorsport even if drivers had to wear pink tutus and flowers..
