Quote from ACCAkut :the cabriolet was never available with the GTi engine, thats what he did. He needed like 8 tries to get TÜV certification, after handing in like 40 pages of expert's reports from different sources.
He says this is mostly because VW is very dominant in this area (Emden-Aurich), and that he would have needed only one try to get his certification if the swapped engine was a VR6

Ah, I thought you were talking about the Cabrio itself

Someone from my town got his rally car (an Opel Manta with 240hp) through the TÜV. Don't even know what a pain that must have been

Quote from ACCAkut :@ Bose: what car is that?

seen a pretty cool '90 Suzuki Swift Convertible today, build by a fellow student, running a GTi engine with some mild modding, now running up to 10k rpm and producing a healthy 140hp. After his wording its the first conversion of this kind in Germany, our TÜV makes stuff like this very difficult.

Why do you want an conversion when the Suzuki Swift was available as a cabriolet from Suzuki itself?

Quote from Klutch :and yet here i am sleeping with a hot goth girl every night

What's so special about a goth girl that you really need to mention it?

The stereotypical dyied hair, clothing that other people use as curtains for a undertaker firm or is it that she expresses herself, with being unique like... uhm... all other goths?

I restrain from saying "Oh god, pretty bad driving there" due to the fact that I'm not a good racer, not even in LFS.

But oh my god, THAT was Demo Server noob T1 mayhem like. How dumb can you be?

Some of the passes were at places nobody with a bit of brain would even try to pass. You could see better racecraft at a 24 hour lawnmower race.

Just to be sure. This thread was about the Eurovision Songcontest, right?

What the hell does the Concorde have to do with this?

Quote from pezia :I've found a little open/non-open track inconsistency with Z30 (could not unlock Z31 yet, i don't have internet on my racing machine ).
Track: Kyoto

It's meant to be like that. Open configs miss all barriers etc.

Has anybody noticed/mentioned that on open track configs the skidmarks don't show?

Yes, already mentioned. Scawen is having a look at it.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Uhm, no. If roads are so bumpy they cause suspension damage, then, Ala Test Drive Unlimited 1, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG.

Oh noes. The Nordschleife ruined my car with all it's bumps. Let's get rid of all of those bumps.

Seriously, WTF?

Quote from Mikjen :Tip #1. Don`t break your suspension

I just tested it

FXO GTR, BL1 GP Rev, 5+ laps. The new section is actually the braking zone, so you are braking over the bumpy section. No damage after more than five laps in F10 view.

FXO GTR, FE Gold, 5+ laps. I didn't even ease a bit off the gas there, just kept the car left and gave it the beans. Literally jumped in rally style there, with about 200 kph. After 5 laps there was 1/6th of the left rear damper damaged. The other ones took much less damage.

Hint for all of those breaking your suspensions: You just can't expect a WR setup, that's as low as the track without the new bumpy parts allowed it, to cope with bumps it wasn't made for.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Uh, no.

Uhm, yes?

They were never meant to be driven on in the first place, so it's just a bonus to have them. And if you place a chicane (hint: autocross editor) in front of this little straight it's enough to keep your suspension in place for ages.

Just keep them as they are, cause it's more fun this way.

Quote from reason0809 :ehm, i dont think its funny to have a broken suspension after 3 laps driving the new straight in FE

Simply ease off the gas.

Ok serious posting

The VW Beetle is NOT anywhere near one of the greatest pieces of engineering. It's a simple, basic engine fitted in the rear of a simply made, poorly upholstered, slow, noisy, unreliable, rust-ridden bucket of crap they call a chassis. It has a top speed of 9 and you can forget the 0-60 because by the time it's got up to 30, the chassis would have rusted and the whole front subframe would have fallen off.

A 2CV, while also coming under all of the above, IS a great piece of engineering because it had something which even today many cars don't have (and NONE of the time had) - the hydropnumatic syspension (or however you spell it), and a sense of fun and a sense of humour which ze Germans could never achieve. I HATE the 2CV so for me to even be saying anything positive shows just how much better I think it is than a VW.

It's funny that you don't have a clue at all

Quote :The Suspension of the 2CV was almost comically soft; a person could easily rock the car side to side dramatically (back and forth was quite a bit more resistant). The leading arm / trailing arm swinging arm, fore-aft linked suspension system together with inboard front brakes had a much smaller unsprung weight than existing coil spring or leaf spring designs. It was designed by Alphonse Forceau.

Quote from DeKo :Only because it was Dega, they don't really bumpdraft on the other tracks. The COT also lines up a lot better for drafting than the old car.

COT? What's that?

NASCARs changing a lot I guess

Best NASCAR finish i have seen live.

Woah, is it a rare sight that nearly everyone is bump-drafting in NASCAR nowadays?

It's been a while since I followed NASCAR. Must have been around 1995 since I watched races more or less on a regular basis, but I can't remember a sight like this
