This is an excellent resource to keep on a separate screen, iPad or something....

It should, because the parameters that generate the torque curve is completely arbitrary and not based on any physical attribute of the engine. There are three parameters that affect the torquecurve, regardless of turbo and other settings. The turbo settings are then added to the curve.

Play around with LFS-tweak, you'll see how the values work.

With LFS-tweak you can have pretty much any turbo response you want. It can take a little tweaking, but you can have anything from tiny insta-spool turbos to massive spools-in-a-week compressors.

the major problem with turbos as I see it is that they never run out of flow, so no matter how fast the turbo is, it won't be restrictive.

Quote from PMD9409 :It's RWD and it's the best freakin car they have.

That's saying something right there, innit?

I'm not big and neither are they. Recaro childseats provide comfort and safety, so we'll be all right. :-)

Kids are already wondering when I'm gonna take them out 'skidding' as they call it. :-) Bless their tiny hearts. :-)

This isn't our primary car, though. Most of the time it's me and the back roads. Kids will be strictly short haul, so they'll be fine. :-)

Also, I have 3 kids, so back seats (small as they are) are needed.

They actually channel intake noise INTO the cockpit at high revs to get MORE noise in there!

I actually changed my colour order to the dark gray. Less flashy, more subtle, and I expect it will hold it's value a little better. Plus it's really growing on me as more and more pictures emerge on the interwebz.

That wouldn't work in Norway, anyway. You can only drive a car on foreign plates for a certain amount of time here. If you want Norwegian plates you gotta fork up the cash. For a brand new car the taxes are usually significantly higher than the cost of the car.

There is a progressive tax reduction for every year the car has been used, and the sweetspot is for cars that are a few years old. The asking price has gone down significantly, and the taxes are reduced enough so that it usually nets a 'profit' versus vuying a used car here. But the extra hassle of importing yourself, and no warranty claims means most people don't go that route. We are so used to paying ridiculous amounts of money for cars we don't think about it much anymore.

Heavy, powerful cars with large capacity engines are the worst. I once checked the price of an Audi S6 in Canada versus here, and the difference was 5:1!

Then I think you are doing it wrong, sir.

I feel pretty much anything the car is doing. Depends on car, though. Sme cars are much better than others.

What you lose while understeering is feedback, not overall force. I guess, to an inexperienced driver it can feel like a loss of overall force, but hook a torquemeter to the steeringrack and you'll see what I mean.

The tax on this isn't the worst, though. With the small'ish engine and low power and weight it gets the benefit of the doupt, so to speak.

Still it pains me to see the prices abroad.

Never been a Hondaman myself, but have owned several Toyotas, including a MR2 mkII which I loved.

Well, over here it's actually pretty cheap for a car in this class. The Golf GTi is significantly more expensive.

About 55% of the asking price is taxes. Taxes are based on engine power, engine size, total weight and CO2 emissions, so a used Lambo would cost stupid amounts of money, most of it being taxes.

With norway's ridiculous taxes on cars it's NOK450', approximately €60' or $75'.

Yes, I know I could get a much better car for that kind of money in a different country....

From the vids I've seen the ass hangs out pretty much at will, so it looks fun as hell!

The wait is already killing me!

It's not even pretty much the same, it IS the same. Even the manufacturers will tell you this.
