If you take a phote of anything, you have copyright to the photo as you took it. The copyright is yours as long as you can prove you took it, having a photograph that someone sends you will not do.
If you copy a design then the copyright is with the company you were copying.
In business i once got a warning from Land Rover about using thier logo on a sales leaflet and i was warned that if i did not remove it they would take action against me.
I proved to them that it was a photograph of the badge on my Range Rover and that i owned the car and photo.
Now that becomes a grey area and so they may not have the rights to have it removed, After several letters they never took action, however we did agree that i would not use it again just in case.
I am using LFSLapper and its a great add on. Could i ask for a few things to be added for your next update if its possible.
1) I am using the pb.txt to record racers above the MaxLapTime to qualify for a new league, but i have found that as it records the nickname rather than the username its causing me problems. Racers seem to change their nicknames as often as they do their girlfriends so the pb.txt has loads of double entries (and triples Blah Blah Blah) for the same person. The file also contains loads of ^x which makes it difficult to read. Can you make the output to the PB.tx username.
Maybe a setting PBname = username or nickname
2) Can you add LapRecordAction and LapRecord
LapRecord = 1.39.75
LapRecord Action = /msg New Server Lap Record {Laptime} etc
3) Can you add SpeedAction and Speed
Speed = 275
SpeedAction = /msg Wow {nickname} just hit {Speed} kph
I often race on AS3, 10 laps with pit. Most people now put 28% in the tank and fill to 5% (The minimum). That means that they can do a pit stop without taking on fuel and the settings are not realistic
I say change it all to litres (and gallons) and have a settings in the garage for
a) Fuel at Start (In ltrs or gallons) - Fuel in the tank at start
b) Top Up (In ltrs or gallons) - How much to put in
c) Auto or Key - If auto selected amount in b) is added. If Key is selected the amount in b) would be added for each key press. (Set 5 ltrs - press 4 times adds 20 litres)
d) Low warning at - a setting at which a dash light flashes a low fuel warning
A driver would then have total control of his fuel strategy and could even make a "splash and dash" rather than the "ran out of fuel" message that we get all the time
To add real control and realisam the simple setting "Pit required" needs changing to.
a) Minimum fuel x - amount of fuel that must be taken on to satisfy the pit completed flag
This type of setting could also be used for tyres and pit window.
Is there any Frex SimConMotion users out there that can tell me the setting they use within the SimConMotion software and the OutSim section of the LFS cfg.txt file.
Start at the back button has been asked for before, i still say it would help some drivers, and if it was a button you have a choice of not pressing it
I often race a FZR on Aston National as there always seems to be at least one full server and some great races. Normally the race is 10 laps with a pit stop.
When I first started, pitting on the last lap was a problem but that has been stopped as it now carries a 30 second penalty. I use enough fuel for the whole race and the minimum top up so pit stops are as fast as possible. If I have not been side swiped at T1, I can make a pitstop with little loss of time. If i have been hit several times it will take longer as all the damage is repaired.
Now I am not fast, my best is 1.42:03 but there are loads of drivers much faster than that. I suddenly found that drivers in the 1.45’s are beating me and could not understand how. I would be in front of them and then when I pit they are suddenly in front yet they are slower.
As there is no way you can tell if someone has done their pit stop while in the race (Not that I am aware) I always expect they will need to pit and I should be in front again but low and behold they don’t, yet the finish the results say they pitted.
Watching a replay shows that at the start they pit from the line using Shift+S then move forward from the garage to a pit box which says they have pitted and then go out onto the circuit. Pitting like this means no damage plus they have missed all the fun at T1 on a clear track. They don’t need to catch or pass anyone but just wait until the other cars pit.
Even some of the super fast drivers are doing this.
Who agrees that this action should also get an automatic 30 second penalty or a pit before the end of the first lap not be counted as a pit at all.
Maybe we need a pit window to make it real interesting.
Please add ff_up and ff_down to the functions so we can assign < and > to buttons.
Question
fz5.lfs has "run road" inside
road.lfs, i have added "button 2 horn"
press button 2 and the horn sounds, fine
If i add "button 2 horn" and remove "run road" in fz5.lfs the horn does not sound when btn 2 is pressed, yet i understand fz5.lfs is run on car selection
I find that most pile ups are faster drivers trying to get past the slower ones before T1 as the FZR is faster off the line that the other GT's
If there was an option then each driver could choose. If there are 6 drivers in the race they would take a chance but when there are 20 they may think again.
In my case i am hit from behind so many times that by the time i am back on track i am at the back anyway so a button would make it easy.
For new (and slower) drivers online it maybe a good thing to have a "start at the back of the grid" button or setting.
They do this is UK short track racing such as hot rods so a new racer is not smashed on his first run and has time to get used to the track before the fast boys pass him.
This may help cut down on start line and T1 pile ups until they have had some prectice and when trying set's.
Even some of the fast drivers could use it to get better racing as they could then work their way through the pack from the back.
2)
When joining a server or even before you join it, it would be good if it gave full details of the race going on such as number of laps and if there is a pit stop. That way drivers can set fuel, select a set etc before they line up
