Quote from master_lfs.5101 :wow noone even uggesteed portforward.com?

k dude go to portforard.com pick ur router model then pick lfs.

k dude...no-one Suggested portforward.com....

because his problem is not a forwarding problem, it is a loopback problem
read here for some info:
http://networking.ringofsaturn.com/Cisco/loopbacktests.php

The problem is, different routers handle loopback in different fashions...see here: http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=4662 for example

I admit that neither example deals directly with LFS, but the PROBLEM is the same.

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :Britian should do well(ish) in the sailing, rowing and diving. We may get a flukey result in the track and feild, but it will be the Veladrome (cycling) that our best chances will come from.

Britain has NO chance in the diving...medal table will be as follows:

Gold - Portugal (Christiano Ronaldo)
Silver - Ivory Coast (Didier Drogba)
Bronze - Spain (Fernando Torres)

Judging by the length of that flatline, it is probably the worse case of lag I have EVER seen!

(Dont really think its lag )

For some reason, I just couldn't get on with the new Mummy movie..Emperors wotsit...it seems like they have taken bits from the first two, mixed in a tablespoon full of Indy Jones, added half a cup of Tomb Raider and left to rot for 6000 years..

PS..Late change in venues...all shooting events - small-bore, clay pigeon, even archery, as well as the javelin, will now be held in Tienanmen Square.

Had to laugh at the mascots...supposed to represent "Prosperity"...being made by people on £0.30p per hour!

Quote from Gai-Luron :Hello guy,

Just an information, LFSLapper is not a CTRA System and never will be! it'a a race qualify managing system. If you want CTRA like, try to code your own programm.

Bye

Gai-Luron

I know that G-L...didn't you spot the [sarcasm] tags...just trying to show where the requests could lead eventually!
Seriously though, a SIMPLE RaceFinsihAction could be helpful for messages about the next race...next session...what tracks/cars combo etc, so that people could change setups or add fuel if necessary.

Quote from Deejayyaj :
I have posted some of what i did configuring my router and have a successful connection.

The problem he seems to be having is not quite as simple.
As I understand it, people can connect to his server from outside...which is OK and normal.
He can connect to his own server via LAN..this is also OK and normal...
What he CANNOT do is connect to his own server via the internet (using LFS Connect for example)..This is NOT OK, but due to the limitations of certain routers is a necessary evil.
As I said before, SOME routers allow you to reconfigure the loopback settings, and some don't..

I seem to have ALL my ports correctly configured..I am running 4 game servers from a spare PC...2*LFS, 1*Call of Duty 4, and 1*Neverwinter Nights; I have 6 computers currently using my network (4*Hardwired PC's and 2*Wireless laptops)..
On top of that I am running a website, a forum, a mailserver...oh..and finally a Teamspeak server.

The fact that ALL that is running correctly must hint at the fact that I know a little bit about networking

Quote from YamaSuba.NL :Maybe it's an idea to have a RaceFinishAction as well as a RaceStartAction. Would be nice to be able to show some info at the Finish-moment, such as announcing restarts will be executed automagically, or that a car/track rotation is coming up.

[sarcasm]
Aaah...RaceFinishAction....award points for places, write points to a database of drivers...calculate the total number of points, award licenses (Titanium, Platinum,Gold, etc) accordingly...limit servers to the level of license, and limit what cars you could drive with aforementioned license...

Sounds like a good scheme..maybe SamH or Becky have some ideas on how to do it.
[/sarcasm]

Seriously though, could be useful

The problem is your router!
IF (and only if!) you are comfortable changing the loopback settings (IF your router allows it!) then you can overcome the problem.
I had this exact same problem with my old Zyxel router, but by mucking about in the configs, which are accessible via telnet of all things! I was able to connect normally. Since I changed to a Netgear DG834 I havent been able to change the loopback settings, I dont think that it is allowed, so every time I want to connect to my OWN server, I have to go in through a LAN connection. Others can join normally with no problems, and I can join others with no problems..it's just "One Of Those Things (tm)"

Quote from Shotglass :sadly it probably makes perfect sense to him considering his line of work

Well...unless he hasn't updated his fit-o-meter recently, Becky probably hasn't got too much to worry about yet...1.5k in over 10 minutes...laughable! I can still manage that today, and I'm over 50, over-weight, and over the hill!
I had to do it in under nine IN FULL COMBAT GEAR (DPM's, boots, 22kg pack, helmet and rifle) to pass my basic training...followed by 8k (still in combat gear) in under 60 minutes with just a ten minute rest in between...in July on a sunny day with 32 degrees of heat.

Time for the Bladey words of wisdom....
What a lot of you fail to realise, (based on the fact that nobody has mentioned it so far) is that for SOME unfortunate people, the interwebs is the ONLY social life they know, I am not pointing the finger at anybody here, just stating a fact.
There are people around whose sole life revolves around their online buddies, maybe they are bullied at school, or live miles from civilisation, but have no real friends with whom to interact.
When they suffer a loss (or have some important news of any kind) they feel they have to share it with the only friends they have...the guys on the forum!
To blatantly take the piss out of a 13 year old because he has QUOTE..lost his only friend /QUOTE is getting below the level of acceptable human behaviour...
OK, maybe the forums are not exactly the best place to post such things, but dont forget...he may have no other method of releasing his emotions.

@Glenn67...are you by any chance a macro user? You seem to be very vociferous in defending them!

Personally, I think that everybody who uses a macro, a button, or even autoclutch is a nub...REAL drivers use a pedal

(and suffer the consequences of missed gear shifts and a wife nagging because of the noise when you thump your foot on the clutch )

Quote from sam93 :Give the insults back to him then, I would, just don't let the manager find out, but you could always say he got as good back as what he dished out lol.

Speak your mind, I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Come back and say that in a few years time when YOU have a job that has to support you/your family...in the REAL world you have to learn to bite your tongue and try and get revenge another way.
Customer complaints are just about the easiest way to get the sack in any service industry, and unfortunately, the customer is always right; even if they are a thick-shit dipstick moron

+1 for Jakg...I am NOT a vegan, I am a true red blooded meat eating omnivore, and proud of it, but as somebody who has grown up around all sorts of animals from budgies to horses, I can attest to the fact that they DO have feelings..and in a lot of cases, emotions.
I can usually tell how my dog is feeling just by looking at her, and most of the time know exactly how to cheer her up, whether with a treat or a cuddle or whatever..
Rabbits are just as intelligent as dogs, and in some cases, more so, yet that doesn't make rabbit stew taste worse.
Just because we eat animals does not mean that we can't respect them.
I am just glad I am not a hypocrite like a certain well-known vegan...In an interview he said that he was totally against the killing of animals for ANY purpose, whether for food or clothing or whatever..he wouldn't even wear leather shoes! Then the interviewer guided the conversation to horse-riding, as the 'person' was a well-known equestrian. The 'person' then went on a spiel about how he treated his horse with love and respect, and saw it more as a partner than a slave etc etc...
When the interviewer pointed out that the horses tack was made of leather, the 'person' fell into a very embarrassed silence..was quite funny

You know you are old when grannies with bus passes start to look at you with a twinkle in their eyes...
Or when you are looking at a very fit young lady in a short skirt, and get accused of being a dirty old man
Or when some little toerag swears at you and calls you GRAND-DAD!

As for birthday cakes and candles..when Mrs B bought MY last cake and candles, the shop assistant asked her if she wanted a fire extinguisher to go with it..just in case!

They then go and make "Witty" remarks, without realising that such remarks have already been made earlier in the thread!

IIRC...If a techie is working on a puter and they find standard pr0n or vv@rez, they tend to ignore it..however, speaking from a personal perspective, if I found disgusting stuff like kiddiepr0n or plans to blow up London, then I would accidently forget who bought the computer in, and take it to the local cop-shop instead
Dunno what guidelines PCWierd have, but would imagine it to be similar.

If you think fractured skull is bad, just wait till you are older and have internal haemorrhoids burnt off with a laser...on the INSIDE...when you go for a shit after you WISH you were dead!

As for accidents...you may as well get used to them, because of a simple mathematical equation:

Teenage "yoofs" + Souped-up cars= RoadKill

A mate of mine had his eldest son wiped out last week...
3 kids + BMW 320i + 0230am + a few pints too many= A very upset father.
