Maddmaff, with some help from DBP was running the event tonight. I have not reviewed replays and didn't expect to even be back in time to race tonight, but in the course of creating the results (before Saturday), I will review all and penalise where necessary.

Many thanks for your responses. I'm not looking for any retrospective penalties to apply (any penalty for teleporting would have applied for the race in question), but I would like to make sure everybody is aware of these rules and not flaunting them in future events.

Edit: I've seen the results on the MultiCup Twist website. Very prompt, well done. Nice to see one person had read the rules and survived the event without picking up any 'naughty points'!

We got there in the end, and had some good racing. Thank you.

Could we clarify some of the rules before the next race though?

The MRT was not in the list of 12 cars that we were due to be racing during this season, but it was used tonight. I've prepared the 12 cars with setups. Luckily I have used the MRT before and had a setup. Are we restricting the future races to just the 12 announced cars?

I think there was some teleporting during the quali, but no penalties. If so, that unfairly disadvantages those who stuck to the rules.

Other than that, everything went well and it was good to see some close fair racing ... and some kind deeds to rescue those who got stuck

Ant, you'll be in an MRT. I've PM'd you the server details.

It looks like everybody is driving either an MRT or LX4 for both races tonight - no details of anybody have a different car for the second race.

Errr, email? Rules state we'll know the combo 3 hours before the event.

I've entered, so only 5 grid slots left ...

I thought the first race went really well, and for those who stuck out the second race, we had a lot of fun too. It was good to have a challenging combo, and surely the mixed abilities of the drivers is something that should make people wary when approaching the driver ahead. All part of the racing.

Thanks for organising. And thanks for the nice gesture on the finish line SparkDave

Why didn't anybody ask for the pictures then?

Great event. I enjoyed it. Well done all.

I'll let you all work out who is who in the picture. This was taken at the end, after a few had left ... summoned for dinner or whatever

Actually, I believe Dinnerman took some photos from inside the venue too

I managed to sprain an ankle playing football yesterday, so don't think I'll be much good testing these sets in the next few days. Hopefully I'll have a bit less pain towards this weekend, and I'll give the sets a good run.

You can count me in, and I can send a cheque too.

I'm travelling down from Stanstead if anybody needs a lift, heading round the northern half of the M25.

Quote from Bob Smith :Can the remaining few vote? I really don't want KY National to win, great infield marred by section of oval being three times longer than I would like (yeah yeah, I know, I suggested it).

To make things easier, can I remove my vote from KY National? Less chance it will win then ...

Timed qualification, as it provides more track time. Otherwise we'd be sitting around too long not driving.

Timed sessions can still be very challenging, especially if the time is limited and you can only do 3 or 4 laps.

I think South City would be better for the other car. I would prefer one of the last 3 tracks mentioned ...

* Westhill Int Rev, 13 laps
* Aston North, 10 laps
* Kyoto National, 12 laps

I like the South City tracks and Aston Cadet in any direction.

Fern Bay would be my least favourite choice for an event like this ... too many high kerbs that could quickly ruin your race.

Quote from Bob Smith :Sound like a plan?

Sounds like a plan. We're nearly there aren't we? Just tracks and setups to sort?

Well done for the organising.

I would say FWD; the racing tends to be close and intense

Quote from Madman_CZ :Time table 4 for me, as much as I like GPL i don't see a point of racing it just as a practise and at a LFS meet. Should be a full LFS day!

My thoughts also.

Quote from nihil :Oh my days... This sounds so serious - I am so going to be last....

I had my 'thinking cap' on, sorry to sound so serious . I'm not a fast driver as I'm sure you'll soon find out, but I don't enjoy the racing unless I am at least lapping consistently. That's what I mean by preparation.

It's no longer 50:50

I tried GPL a long time ago, didn't get on with it, and haven't touched it since. I take the point that Sim drivers shouldn't have too much difficulty getting used to another Sim (given a half-decent setup), and I would make the effort if necessary.

However, for me it's a risk - I know about LFS racing and getting prepared for an event. I know nothing about racing in GPL, and would prefer to stick with what I know rather than spending a lot of time getting prepared for a single event, and then probably never touching GPL again. I have enough difficulty finding enough time for LFS, let alone trying to drive another Sim on top.

Anyhow, that's my opinion

I think a fixed setup would please most people and reduce driver change times to a minimum. As long as we have plenty of time before the event to practice with the setup and combo, there shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Perhaps we could trial 2 or 3 setups in the next few weeks, and have a poll to select the setup that we use during the event?

It's good for me.

I'll be travelling from near Stanstead, if anyone wants to share a lift.

oh no! I thought this was a 18:00 GMT race start.

Unfortunately AtomAnt (King of the Wild Frontier!) I've got the last round of the CRC's Challenge Cup starting at 20:00 on Sunday. So unless someone promises to beat the WR by 2 secs a lap (for 60 laps), we'll not be finishing in time .

Sorry, looks like I may need to miss this one.

Copied from the Jinsim class descriptions ...

The InSim.txt documentation doesn't say much about the definition of a "node". My guess that it is pieces of the track that compromise each "split". When you get to the end of a node, that's when it records your split time.

That looks just about right .

I tried tracing, thought that too much effort, so applied some original thought instead!!!!!
