End of the day guys, no matter what happens, we've got a stonkingly good sim which offers high value for money. I would go out and pay another £12 any day if it meant that I'm getting more enjoyment out of the game.

The fact is, what Scawen, Eric and Victor have produced is pretty much a small miracle, I've worked on games where there's only a couple of people involved and trust me, the rate in which art gets turned around can be pretty slow and if you go up the wrong avenue either art or code wise, it can be very time consuming as well as expensive to get back on track, where as larger teams can easily pool in more people to get back on track.

The only way the team would be able to fulfil everybody's wish lists would be to hire more artists, coders, etc but it's not the way they work.

Other alternative is to enlist artists like Lynce, who did a cracking job with the revolution packs, to help out with polish such as the interiors for a fee.

And I'd be willing to contribute as well when it comes to polishing and general helping out.

I've got a feeling that a lot of people don't appreciate the hard work that goes in to making a sim/game/app and really need to step back and look at things from another perspective.

Awesome news

I'd love to find out more about the laser scanning, and the process of how the information was used to build the new track- sounds pretty damn cool

Anyways back on subject, it's always good to see new announcements in regards to new content- I've been playing LFS on and off since the earlier days of the demos and it's amazing how far it's come

Gonna be counting up my coppers and general shrapnel in time for S3's release.... got 5p so far... :P

1. Brands Hatch both GP and Indy variants= good for both short and longer races and probably fairly local for the devs...
2 Spa- it's a legend! be a giggle watching everyone go through T1, and if LFS were to get variable weather effects, could then have races that start in the dry then get the mad thunderstorms, separating the men from the boys
3 for the drag/hill climbing fans, Goodwood, West Sussex which isn't that far from my gf's- not sure if there's a full track there or not though.

what will happen is that anything you add to the texture will potentially be sharper than the upscaled textures so it would look pretty weird.

Best bet is to try and find a higher resolution base to work from

in theory you could use a greyscale bump map which affects collision per pixel but it would mean that the minimum specs for the game would need to be raised as well- this could corrispond with a texture+spec+normal map, etc.

the only other way would be to tesselate the road surface and using something like noise or getting an artist to do so, make the road surface less even. In other words it's adding a lot of man hours as that's a lot of tracks to go through, bumpify and test. Again this will raise minimum spec as you've now got 4 times as many triangles displayed for the road surface minimum.
