Quite a long way off then I see. I'm pretty sure my SR rank is letting me down massively. I remember somewhere that entrants for the pro series are decided by the end of Q2 of this year, so that means that's happened already?
Whenever every single widescreen TV you see in a public place, be it a hotel / bar etc has the wrong aspect ratio, stretching the image across the width of the screen.
The worst example is when they are displaying 16:9 TV footage which is still set up wrong, stretched and has black bars top and bottom.
I enjoyed tonight, thanks for organising again Josh. I felt on my back foot for this combo, Hugo had quite an edge over me today for qualifying and raw pace. Still, I was glad to get the win in the 2nd race, although I had to treat every lap like a WR attempt to win it. It's a shame marc and rudy left in the middle of the main race, slightly pathetic if I'm honest, especially given that none of them came back for the sprint race after, and marc had time to hotlap offline.
I decided to have a bit of fun with LFS Tweak, giving the BF1 a 3.0 litre V10 engine developing 899 hp vs the standard 720 hp of the standard car, bringing it back to the pre 2005 era. To spice things up even more, I decided to do some hotlapping with TC and engine braking reduction disabled, with a goal to break the existing BF1 WR.
The following lap is not perfect, I lost a few tenths in the 2nd to last hairpin, but it's not bad. The lack of TC affects the car a suprising amount, the rears sometimes breaking traction even in high speed corners. The lack of engine braking reduction means the driver must apply some throttle under braking, but even then the rears can lock up.
I've attached the LFS Tweak preset, along with a .eng sound file, a setup, and the .spr replay of the lap if anyone is interested.
But FOV always has to be a compromise I find. If I had a monitor which filled literally my entire vision only then would I be able to use a setting like 120+ with it being realistic. Personally I use 79 but that's only on a 19 inch widescreen, although it's placed directly behind my wheel. Even so, the "natural FOV" for that would probably be less than 40 degrees .
Most cars in LFS if anything have too much grip. Some of the tyre slip physics need work though IMO. ATM I feel a locked / spinning / excessively steered tyre has too much grip, but it's tricky to get right. LFS isn't too far off anyway.
What most people find is that they are always driving much faster / more agressive in LFS than they realise. When I go out in something real, even a kart, it takes a little while to get used to the overwhelming extra perception of things going on around you, which you miss massively in any sim.
**** me. Excuse the language but christ, after 6+ hours of messing around with different settings, googling different stuff, etc, it's finally decided to work. I basically set everything back to scratch, and went through the ICS wizard once more on both PC's with restarts, and it works. Woop.
The problem I've got is worse than I thought. I can't even network the desktop and laptop together for file sharing. On my laptop I can see both the laptop and the desktop visible in the workgroup in my network places, but when I double click the desktop, it tells me "-PCname- is not accessible. You might not have permission blah blah blah". If anyone can help that'd be good thanks cos this is doing my ****ing head in!
I ended up using the network setup wizard, which sort of worked. I now have both laptop and desktop connected, and my laptop's wireless connection tells me its sharing the internet, however I'm not getting an internet connection at my desktop PC.
This sounds like something I need to do to get it to work... can you please elaborate? Cheers.
P.S. I don't have a usb wireless card / dongle, and since this is temporary (a few weeks) I'm not gonna buy one either.
Well no. My desktop is in a different room to the router, but I can obviously connect my laptop wirelessly to the router in the same room as the desktop. I can connect the laptop to the desktop via ethernet, so I'm hoping to be able to share the laptop's internet to the desktop.
Basically for a short period of time I have my gaming PC too far away from the wireless router to connect it via ethernet. It has no wireless card either, so the only way I could connect to the internet would be through my laptop's wireless.
I have managed to make a connection between my PC and laptop via ethernet, but I have no idea how to share the wireless internet my laptop receives across to my PC?
I have googled a few articles but most are very long winded and rubbish.
Today the server has been shocking. Yesterday it was OK. Anyway, the reason for me posting is to ask why saying the word "gay" gets an instant kick from the server? Since when is gay an insulting word? In the context I used - "that doesn't sound gay at all" (iirc), it got me kicked from the server which was full seconds later as the race started. It seems everytime I had a good race shaping up something happened to ruin it. /rant
