I actually find myself doing this very often when racing the FZR in endurance races. In a lot of situations where the rears are getting hotter than the fronts, if you are controlling oversteer with countersteering then the rears get hotter and hotter while the fronts stay cool. Sometimes balancing oversteer by turning past peak grip at the front removes the oversteer while keeping the tyre temperatures more balanced between front and rear.

Edit: This technique obviously only works at corner entry or mid corner. You always want minimum steering lock on corner exits in RWD cars.

Yeah, I was hoping for a mix of classic tried combos and obscure new ones. Still, thanks for the invite, I'm looking forward it.

Quote from Riders Motion :Out of interest, why do you want the monitor to be half hiden by the steering wheel? On my older desktop computer I had lifted the wheel 6 inches just so it doesnt get in the way of the wheel.

I don't understand why a lot of people like their monitors to be so high up. I have my monitor personally right behind my wheel, on the same level of desk the wheel is clamped too. The wheel pokes into the bottom of the screen, covering part of the dashboard in the car as it should. I'd hate to be looking up at the track well above what should be the horizon.

Right.... well, my first prepubescent crush was.... Baby Spice. There, I said it, otherwise Niall would. And the manditory pic:

(Really though, the rest of the Spice gurls were mingers..)

Following that, once I'd starting to understand what attractive was, it was from the age of 11 onwards to be Rachel Stevens. I'd watch all the crappy S Club shows etc just to see her prancing about on the beach in Miami...

Quote from Intrepid :Hopefully Bernie will convince the BBC to also cover Formula Kart Stars which is planned to be supporting the European F1 Gps in 2010, and International races in 2011. bernie still has to find someone to broadcast the footage from this year

I heard something about this last week. I was at PFi last wednesday with the loughborough kart club for an event in their pro karts, apparantly Hamilton was promoting the series you mentioned, but left about 30 mins before we arrived though.

On Topic: The new broadcasting features sound awesome.

Almost, but the sport (I think it's called), looks glorious with the fatter tyres and larger wheel arches.

Quote from de Souza :Dave at the semifinal... Counted this one as a lose already, as Dave is truly a monster with the LXs. But I thought I could try to give him some competition.
Oddly enough I had a better time than him on the previous round so I started behind, and wow... I could actually keep up with him! I don't know how but in the end of the two races I won!

You put up some seriously good competition tonight, nice driving mate. I think you had the 2nd fastest time of the event, which is really good.

As for myself, I hate to make excuses but I had been driving the FZR around Blackwood about an hour before the event started, and I never really got fully connected with the (LX6) car during the 1 lap races. It's very easy to overdrive the LX6 as much as I like it, and that's what I ended up doing. Still, I enjoyed it, and de Souza deserved the 2nd place, looks like you gave Nolan a good run for his money too.

All in all this season has been very much up and down for me, with the majority being down TBH. The organisation etc though has been very very good, now bring on the All-star cup I say!!

Quote from Jakg :It doesn't feel... right at all - i.e. the cars seem to be very uncommunicative, and the whole understeer thing feels weird. The tracks and cars are uninteresting, and the physics just don't feel right (i.e. the cars seem to snap way too much, and get into an uncontrollable slide - wheres the balancing? Even in a high-powered slick car it IS possible to hold a slide, albeit for a short period of time...).

I had this initially. If you have a G25 set to less than 900 degrees then the steering is speed sensitive (which is stupid TBH). You have to trick the sim by turning your wheel enough so it think's you have 900 degrees otherwise, then you will get linear steering. Try that, then let me know if it feels better.

Before I get onto my POV of the final event, I'll thank Dan once again for going through the effort of organising this league. The car and track choices have been great, and have made for great racing. If there is another season after this, I'll be back in the FZ though, the RAC is such a frustrating pile of shit sometimes.

Qualifying: Most of my laps were poor and scruffy during qualifying, and I felt slightly uncomfortable with the car for most of the laps, but I managed to string together a fairly safe lap which was enough for pole albeit by a tiny margin.

Sprint: The first couple of laps I focussed on building a gap up to troy behind me, which went perfectly until the tyres left me. I wasn't sure how long the set would last, and it turned out they needed more pressure. Still, I kept them from overheating too much, and held of a surging troy behind me to eventually take the win.

Feature: As ever at South City the traffic proved very tricky to navigate through. There are very few decent passing opportunities, so I became frustrated quite a few times. At the time I felt like others were defending slightly unfairly, but watching the replay, it was actually hard but fair defending. I was hoping to get through the pack with Hugo, but as he passed Kid for the lead, I lost 7 or so seconds trying to pass Kid myself. Watching the replay I should have defended into T1 the first time I got past him, as I left myself open for a counter attack, and that's what happened. I then lost more time with a small collision which resulted in massive oversteer and almost a spin, so the win was now out of the question. Still 2nd was still a good enough result to (provisionally) take the championship.

I feel it's worth posting here since the event ran great, and Paul's report on the forum of the pro series website is well worth a read (as are the results and replays).

I feel the quickest way to initially work out where the limit is, is to drive aggressively, let the car have it's head, and purposely push the car into corners. This way you will find the limits, exceed them, then smoothen out your driving to try and stay as close to the limit as possible without exceeding it too much or dropping below it and losing out potential time.

It was unfortunate for Rudy, although Nolan had caught up a little through the chicane so I was expecting him to be in the draft anyway after the final turn. I'm pretty sure Nolan lifted after the contact to allow Rudy to sort himself out.

Shit happens. It certainly did in my race, I don't know if Michael lagged at all, but one minute he was flatout, the next he was at a standstill well before I would normally brake, and I couldn't react in time. It's probably my fault though for being undercautious.
