Quote from The Moose :Anyone here running the Mazdas this season? I bought it last night and am amazed how much better it is now compared to when I tried it a few seasons ago.

Mazda@Brands is a combo made in heaven...

Yeah the tyre model for the Mazda had a serious update for this season, which has turned it into the car I always expected it to feel like. Smooth driving is rewarded, but sideways moments and slides are savable and happen in a predictable fashion.

I'd love to drive more cars this season, but I think I'm going to have to stick with the V8, and probably the radical as it's now class B and good fun too. I don't have the time for any more.

Quote from Gills4life :Wow, looks like Crozier had a nightmare!

Yeah I think he was involved in a collision with 2 other cars in the few last or 2. Unlucky for him.

Quote from Kid222 :Gratz Dave, good result.
I had good race, though looking at 1:30 am race, it sucked to have split, points-wise. I might do a re-run on sunday morning.

Thanks, yeah forgot you were in the same race, looks like you had a respectable result. I might do another one tomorrow, not sure if I'll be busy then, at least there are always 4 races to choose from!

Results of 1900 UTC race:

My split:

The other split:

Basically a copy / paste from the iRacing forum, but anyway:

Grats to Jesse for the win in his split, very impressed! If you compare both results though, both me and Klaus were slightly quicker in our split. Of course Max and Jesse could have been fighting and slowing each other down, but nonetheless its cool.

Regarding the race, Klaus got a great start and pulled a small gap immediately while I followed. I kept well within his draft for a few laps until I outbraked myself in the hairpin (my least favourite corner on the whole track), and from then on I watched the gap grow slightly each lap as I failed to conserve the tyres like he managed. Close behind me in 3rd Matthias was featuring a lot in my mirrors till my pitstop, with me having to defend slightly a few times. I pitted earlier than Matthias, and looked after my tyres better in the 2nd stint, so us top 3 were all running very similar pace towards the end. Well done to Klaus though, superb pace and consistency and deserved the win.

Good luck to Hugo, Marcio, Aritan and any other LFSer's for the one in a few hours!

This lap (by Peter Read) really shows off the car much better than the video posted by iRacing, for any of those who can't drive it yet for whatever reason. It's so lively and awesome.

I LOVE iRacing! Well, sort of. :P

The new Mazda feels wicked, pretty much just how I;ve always wanted it to feel since forever, and I haven't tried the Vette yet.

Also, head bobble adjustment in the app.ini file, YES!!! At last! Got that reduced to 0.4 atm, much much better.

He was running top 10 I think after qualifying 11th, but must have had an incident as he didn't finish the race. Still hope there is no damage as there is a race tomorrow as well.

His best lap was only 0.6 seconds off the best of anyone, not bad for your first ever Jetta race!

Quote from troy :Would be nice to see an (almost) full grid for the last round, so come out and race wherever you are.

When the new patch is out.

Seriously though, the races I've been in have been a fail due to lack of preparation, though you deserve to win this year, no doubt.

I can't race tonight since I'm with my parents for Easter hols, and the qualifying etc clashes with food. Niall has PC problems so can't race either.

Quote from PMD9409 :Anyone see the crash Huttu caused? We now know he is human!

Yep, of course he is human. He has a reputation for being some dominating super human machine, but the man can make mistakes just like the rest of us. Notice how he only has 60/70 races in his entire iRacing career. His approach to sim racing is totally different to most of us. It would seem he spends 90% of his sim time practicing offline, and 10% in online official sessions. That's why he has such a good record. Personally I could never do that, I like to jump into sessions and just have fun a lot of the time.

I'm really REALLY looking forward to this car, probably more than any car so far in the sim. So many fast setups in iRacing use almost completely open diff's, so having to drive a completely locked one should make for a nice change which should suit me, and any LFSer's in general much more.

Upload a replay (spr), and we can analyse the driving.

You should be as nice to the tyres as you can from the beginning of your stint so they don't overheat at any point. That way they will last longer and stay up to temperature longer too.

Just posted a thread about how the Dallara feels so much more convincing and predictable with high pressures, and discussing slip angles etc.

Quote from BenjiMC :Wow, Lewis can do no right. /me is waiting for Tristans report from his Hamilton bashing clipboard.

Buttons call was perfect, but i think it was probably just a knee jerk reaction more than him feeling the grip levels of the track. Lewis needs to stop relying on the team so much when HE should know what to do, it cost him a podium at melbourne last year too. He is actually a team player (Every race he wins he tells the team thanks no?) but when he gets let down by the team he can loose his head a bit. Some of his passing attempts and successes were breathtaking, especially the one into the fast left right chicane (turn 11?).

I am fed up with Red Bullsh** Racing and their stupidly unreliable cars. Vettel needs to get a drive for a better team. He should be a world champion on his way to a 2nd championship this year. Webber basically ruined Hamiltons week. The call for retirement, which imo was said as a joke but taken out of proportion by the media as usual, is probably just after todays race. It's a bit like DC's last season.

Couldn't agree more.

Hamilton makes F1 so much more exciting than it would be without him, I love watching him on the track. So what if he's not a likeable guy off the track? Who gives a **** seriously, and why? What the **** is wrong with you lot? On the track I know he's always gonna try everything to get the best result possible, and he's ALWAYS wringing the car for everything it's worth.

Webber has had an awful weekend, making far too many mistakes and putting himself in dangerous situations. I personally would have been furious in Hamilton's situation, though I do agree he needs to start making his own decisions regarding strategy rather than relying on the team all the time, still it added to the race!! I think Webber should be penalised (10 place grid penalty next race is fair IMO) after outbraking himself and taking out Hamilton, it was looking like Hamilton had a real shot at taking Alonso and potentially Massa and Kubica there. Alonso's defending up to that point though was of course brilliant, always compromising the entry phase to get a better exit and keep Lewis back.

I feel sorry for Vettel again, he deserves better. Awesome job by Kubica though, and of course Button, making the right call at the right time (though no doubt influenced by losing out to Hamilton on the inters), should make for some great inter team battles this year!

It's very unlikely that My3id Gaming #2 will participate unfortunately, at least in qualifying. Other things have gotten in the way and there isn't enough interest from other teams and drivers to make it worthwhile for now.

Personally I love these cars, when the new patch comes out I'd be all over an event like this so I hope the organiser(s) don't lose heart!

Quote from Kid222 :I'll try it, though Vette feels terrible after update.
Can i ask someone for a good stable setup, which will not send me into spin in every second turn?

I'll start working on a setup after MoE this weekend, and I'll share it once I'm comfortable etc.

Quote from StableX :I hope I'm here for it. The Daytona 2.4 hour was fantastic fun!

Yes it was, though we both(?) suffered badly with internet issues that race!
