All I wanted to know really is why? I can understand if we've done something wrong, but actual team members wern't even being mature. Does anyone know where I can find a member so I can PM?

Hi all,

Has anyone else had trouble with this bunch of amateurs?

Me and a friend were racing cleanly and on the last lap a member of thier team, in thier own server, crushed my friend into the wall, when he asked who it was and told them the least they could do was to apologise, they kicked him and called him a noob. They then proceded to kick me for absolutely no reason and would not tell me what I was being kicked for.

Obviously after that I re-joined and there was no explanation as to why I was kicked.

Just wondering really if this is normal behavior for a supposedly "respected" team. Personally with behavior like that the useless idiots don't deserve a place on S2, let alone Demo!

Just had to get that off my chest really. If anyone from eXcite is reading this, I'm not asking to be unbanned from your server, I'd rather race where people are welcome rather than objects to aim at, somewhere like Redline Racing (who are 100x better than the 2 mins I spent in your server).

Regards,
Nick

Quote from sinbad :I think you're right, I doubt you can get much more information than the current stereo sound provides, because of all the other sounds involved, and the way that exhausts tend to be pointed backwards, which means that not much sound is being fired forwards to your ears - well not enough to drown out your own car's noise crisply (assuming all cars are making the same amount of noise) phew long sentence.

I don't really see what the problem is anyway. Stereo is fine. If the sound is on the left, and you can't see a car in front of you, then it's definitely coming from behind you on the left. There would only be the least bit of value to it in multiple car pack racing, and in those situations I'm even more confident that it would be very hard to distinguish the direction each of the many many sounds is coming from IRL, since the cars in front would be much more audible than the ones behind.

On a bike it very much depends on how loud a noise your own machine is making, and how fast you're going. If there's someone with a loud bike behind you, you can hear them quite accurately (side to side) at lower speeds, but only if they're pretty close, and it's certainly not easy once the speed builds.

As much as I agree with some of the points here I don't think it is a viable reason why LFS cannot or should not support surround sound. It's as though you are making excuses. If it is technically possible why not implement it? At the end of the day you have the option to make LFS a lot more realistic.

When you are in your own car sounds arent only to the left and right of your ears are they? Sounds come from all over, and I think this would be a valuable addition to LFS...

Quote from Migz :Because when there are lots of computers on, the school network runs slow.
Well not the whole school network, just the computers in the room.
So if 24 computers are running photoshop, because its such a demanding programme it makes the computers run slow.
So when i played seeing as people were using programmes i thought the network would be to slow to play it.

Wrong or coincidence. Programs on individual PC's do not affect the overall speed of the network, it was probably a slower machine that you tried to play LFS on - the network won't slow down even if the computers had 40,000 copies of Photoshop running.

Quote from J@tko :My school has a big Quake 3 problem.

At lunchtimes there are huge lan games going on over the network, with people having some names that I'd rather not repeat here!

The teachers are onto them quick tho - there the only ones who are staring at the screen, left hands on cursors and right on mouse!

Your problem is Quake 3? At the school I support we get humouros numbers of copies of Unreal Tournament turning up everywhere - but yes, Lunchtimes is a good time to play LFS on the laptop

My thoughts - new patch is fantastic. Lots of added realism and brilliant reply from the devs in that interview

Message to "Broke Demo Drifters" - stop whinging about it, stop drifting, get a f*cking job then pay for s2, everybody's happy.

I do find keyboard controls difficult at this time as I'm laid up after an operation so can't use my wheel, but in that situation a gamepad isn't too bad to use, just waiting for the day that I decide to buy a G25 - seen some brilliant reviews and LFS needs it. It's been badged as the ultimate racing simulator, and whats a simulator when you can't damage engine components and the main control method is a keyboard?? A simulator is just that - simulate real life.

If I were the devs, my reply would be "Find me a car which you operate with a keyboard and we'll make the game keyboard friendly".

A decentish wheel is less than £30 nowadays - and LFS S2 is only £24, so whats the problem? Even benefits give out more than that per week now so stop complaining, and learn that you have to BUY things you want in real life. Sh*t happens at the end of the day.

Devs - Well done, major changes in Patch Y - all for the better IMHO!

This thread is a joke - not the content, the select few S2 racers ruining it for everybody.

NOT ALL DEMO RACERS HACK LFS, OK?

Can you get it into your heads that LFS's full current title is Live For Speed S2 ALPHA X

There are still bugs which enable you to get air, so stop tarring all demo racers with the same brush. We were all demo racers once you know, if you don't like it, sod off.

Ah, ok fair enough. I'll have to try to develop something / find something that will keep the skins & setups folders in sync!

Cheers!

Hi Guys.

I've got a new dual core 64-bit jobby for xmas and just wondering one thing before I waste my last unlock.

I have both XP 32-bit and XP 64-bit installed. Can I stick LFS on a seperate partition and only use one unlock? Or do I need to run LFS in just 32 bit windows (logitech have no 64 bit drivers for the Momo)

Cheers,

Nick

EDIT: Reason being I used to have a similar setup but LFS would need to be unlocked every time...

Quote from Racer Y :You know, I'm not really one to sway how ppl should run their servers. I mean you paid for it and all, so you have every right to run it however you want.
But I'll be honest, after seeing the picture #7 you posted as part of some justification for banning the guy... yeah it was pretty apparent he caused the wreck, and I kinda believe that he didn't know he hit you (in the pic that showed the actual wreck the other guy's head was straitght ahead and not looking to the left) I think geting banned for that is pretty lame on y'alls part IMO.
He apologised... I'm sorry but was this a career ending wreck for you or something? Did the butterfly effect resulting from the wreck cause somebody to die in Paraguay? I mean really.
And I also think that having that kind of mentality is what really kills off racing sims. more than wreckers do.

You know, there's some sort of Wreckers Barricade or something that works
to BAN wreckers... real wreckers.

There really needs to be players barricade or whatever to BOYCOTT servers
for doing things that are just as detrimental

And as I said before, I've been to your servers, I didn't have any problems there at all.... I guess I should just thank my lucky stars I didn't misjudge something and have to lock my brakes-huh?

Oh well when all's said and done, it's your server run it how you want...

Well said. Last week I locked my handbrake on through no fault of my own and skidded off the track. Since and before then I have run consecutive 2nd's with 1.10's coming out of my ears. Log in yesterday to find out I'm banned.

I've been an avid LFS fan for 3 years now, and wrecking isn't my thing. But it seems one mistake is all it takes for the Redline guys to ban people, then have the cheek to not respond / check their email account...

I love the Redline servers, all good chaps, all brilliant races etc etc, but I think, from a management kind of view, communication is rubbish...!!
