My story:
I ve been playing the demo since .... 2004 afair ( check my signature). That time i couldnt afford to buy full ver. Now i can but content seems to be little outdated.
And remember that almost each game with pass of time gets cheaper. Its obvious - u get something old - you pay less. But for LFS you ve to pay 20E even tho the game is like (?) 5 years old. This is for me quite ununderstandable
To synthesize a "stupid" piano is difficult. As you know sound of piano is rendered by hitting a string with a small "hammer" which is attached to a piano key. This gives the string a vibrations and voila .. you have a nice sound. Of course: add a reverb and a "wooden" tint which gives a piano case, thats kind of issue too.
To be honest i can tell you wont get a synth piano as good as real.
After all I wrote above you would like to get a decent a synthesized engine sound? The sound of cylinders(4/8/more?) where petrol explodes, sound of drivetrain, sound of all the mechanical parts that are moving and making all that noise - you would like to get it right?
So i just wanna say one word "synthesized sounds" arent what all sims should pursue.
I remember when I asked here,on this forum, wheres the point to synthesize sounds. Wouldnt be easier to go and make some recordings? Moreover it would be not only easier but closer to reality....
and one guy replied something like:
i have the same problem , can anyone help?? It works perfectly on windows drivers but the problem is i can not install them. The whell is bound to this drivers( had installed the wheel with the logitech drivers first) which are resident in the system even when I uninstall the wheel. PLEASE HELP !
oh , wheel works great with all other titles for example gtr2
Yes , I have to agree with you guys , the slope I have written is about 10 degree and car slows down when on it to 90 - 95 kmh. So i was wrong there
But i wasn't when talking bout air resistance in LFS cause on the same elevation, like the one I mentioned, car in lfs would nt actually slowdown to 90-100 so my point is still true.. I believe.
Although as I said I had exaggerated that elevation - sorry for false alarm.
so, to make it clear - you guys think that forces like air resistance and friction are properly modeled ?
I'm not too sure but i think that this have not been discussed.
I made a simple test ( and so can you)
Choose XRT. On Blackwood(regular) get to the long straight ( after the first chicane), maintain speed of (about) 150 km/h when passing the first checkpoint and change gear to neutral position. After 100-200 m the track gets some negative elevation ( say about 10 degrees) and amazingly our car, right on that spot, doesn't lose any speed(!). In my case the car was going for this short time with speed of 145 without loosing a single kilometer per hour.
In real car/in real life
On my way home I go by my car home through the road which on some point is elevated at about -20 or -30 degrees. Being on "top" of the road, (on the very beginning of that slope) having speed of 100 km/h I switch my gearbox to neutral position.
Guess what ? My car LOSES speed there. YES ! even though the speed is lower then the speed mentioned in LFS case above air resistance is so big it slows down my car to about 75-80 km/h
ohh my car is a sport one, doesn't have worse air resistance factor then xrt for sure.
Anyway , im pretty sure that air resistance in LFS is far to low.
What do U think ?
good question , actually remember that after you run out of letters you can make some combos with numbers like "LFS S2 A1 ALPHA !!" after this you re free to start a new alphabet counting like "LFS S2 A1 A ALPHA" then "LFS S2 A1 B ALPHA"
it's better to drive with a wheel as its more "real", The only good thing about the mouse driving is that you can get out of any problems on track as its possible to turn your wheels completely into different direction in one moment.
Cant see how damage can be a serious problem. I like the way damage to the wheels is applied for eg everytime you give your suspension hard time. furthermore this game is not "Flat out" and getting damage to your car is rather rare I think. With good drivers on a track actually the damage model is not even required.........
On the other hand more damage to the car will cause lots of drivers to end their races early due to connection issues ( stutter multiplayer, bumps etc ... ). Damage model is biassed well i think although the graphic representation of it lacks.
simple q. What is the reason for making special game's sound engine on purpose to get rid of the samples first, and then work on making it sounds as close to samples as possible.
If anyone thinks there is logic in doing so, compare CSR sounds and oryginal...
ps. synthesis will not provide as good sound as samples , deal with it.
U want a good synthetic sounds?? > it takes cpu power, but still U will not get as good sounds as samples. Simple as that
(sorry if it is hard to understand the message - my english lacks)
i have "sorry" bound.
Durring race its natural a minor bumps/crashes occur.
When something more seroius will happen i just write more and then i have to stop "im very sorry for that " etc.
i have not voted , im not sure about engine sound. Where all the trebles ve gone ?? It sounds to me like this sound was filtered with some low pass filter with high slope factor like 24db or more...... change to 8 and it should sound better.
Anyway , i can hear some high noise - is it a drivetrain ?
Just for a record. I replied to posts of mr. AndroidXp and mr Spankmeyer which disagreed with my opinion "the graphics are not fantastic" pointing out that the phenomenon of good graphics in NFS is because of special effects, oversaturation etc. My only point was <<graphics are not fantastic in lfs+ nfs has better graphics then lfs>>.
I was not writing bout realism and feeling which is a different story.
Im not talking bout saturation level or not, when mentioning about NFS. Sorry guys - yes i dont like NFS - but graphics there (even tho you ll get rid of oversaturation and tons of special effects) are BETTER. Look at the car models for example.... Overall image quality is better. Sorry guys but dont let your love to lfs blind your sight. Thats it.
What you re saying about effects equals to situation when sum1 would state nfs1(first game from this series) has better graphics then lfs s2, but lfs s2 uses special effects like "reflection maps" and "trilinear filtering"... ....hellooo...
Lfs has "ok" graphics for now and had good graphics for the time s2 just gone up. But "fantastic" is, with all my sympathy to lfs, a simple overreacting. If im wrong then check bhmotorsports - pick new relases and tell me few words about graphics there. What will u say ? "super hyper mega fantastic"?? or just "super fantastic".
The fact is it would be qood to see some graphic improvements in lfs. Im not the right person to make requests-im not licensed, but u are. ive just written whats my opinion in this matter.
ps. Ok im prepared for flaming me
"damn u little demo racer!! LFS has best graphics in the world !! how dare u !!"
greetings
With all my respect to your opinion i have to admit graphics are not fantastic..... Lfs is a good sim not an eyecandy game. Dunno what kind of experts U have there but try showing them NFS-MW and asking bout graphics. No offence. I just couldnt agree the graphics were fantastic. Anyway , good to hear will have a sound update.
