Bad idea. If the car doesn't handle well for me, I would go to another server. Besides, I don't think, it'll make racing closer, fast guys will be fast on any setup. You will see it, when you are in a race, and the fastest racer is 3 Sec. faster than your best time, then you ask for his setup, and you are maybe, but not always just 0.5 sec faster than before, so it isn't about the setup, it is about driving...although i am tweaking sets a lot, the effect on laptimes isn#t that big as long as your driving sucks.

I am skeptical about forced playing options, I like it better, if the fastest guys gives away his set to anybody just to see he is still the fastest. Good sportmanship behavior and not making ppl drives setups they dont like.

If you want close racing, mind the GTR car class and head for TBO or even UF 1000 races

I recommended this little proggie several times. I have an additional gamepad on my wheel to acces the F9-12 keys, or the chat message and the arrow keys. This way, I can change fuel load and stuff without taking hands from the wheel...or have doubled functions on one key, like the shifter paddles not only shifting gears (from LFS) and also triggering the clutch by a keystroke on C...something like an automatic manual clutch, sort of. Still have to work out how to use 2 buttons for Volume up down for winamp in the background.

You could use Joy2 Key Proggie to map Joystick buttons to Keyboard strokes. Only thing to do is to define which button and the action taken, in your case Shift-K.

I am not sure, if theres any newer version, I am using 3.74 englisch, it is online at www.d-r-t.net (downloads/tools on page2).

Hope that will do the job for you

Well, I tried yesterday to spread lfs on two monitors. So far it only worked windowed, and as soon as the snd monitor comes into play, the framerate drops to like 2 fps...probably cause it is not hardware accelerated. I read that on nVidia Cards, you have to change the monitor settimngs to horizontal span, but I happen to have an Ati 9600 XT and there isn't such an option.

Tried Hydravision, but that doesn't change a thing...

So, does ATI support 2 D3d accelerated monitors? what do i have to do to archive this?

abc file is different, in data/abc. For P2 it is about 96 KB is size, with the newer patches it is about 150...change the file to the version you need, means the bigger one for the newer patches and it should run

Took a lock and did some (just a few) corrections/additions. There are still some minor issues , for example the mouse over text for selecting cars seems not to be in the language file. And I didn't have a clue how to translate weight multiple. I figured that a WM of 2 means that the same weight of the car is added by downforce, maybe " Gewichtsmultiplikator"???

Changed the filename to language_Deutsch, so you will have to edit the .lst-file. And thanks to Bob for that useful tool. I think we all owe him a beer for that, but that is probably more than he can handle. Where is your house, btw, in case I ever happen to be around?

Easiest way to do that is probably taking a piece of wood , the size like 70 cm square and cut 5 holes into in at the appropriate positions, so the rollers cant move....

Try increasing caster value in your set. More caster gives stronger centering forces

Have you tried to press Shift-C (i think) to reinitialise the controller? I have lost FF a few times and this helped, also during races....

I use Joy 2 Key, too, I also have a joypad controller attached to my wheel to change F11/F12 (and some other) settings without touching the keyboard. It is also possible to map the keyboard c to the shifter buttons and so have a quasi automatic button clutch. Only thing is, you have to watch out not to shift too fast...

theres lots of settings that affect FPS, e.g. screen resolution, level of details, dynamic detail reduction (set it to 1) and so on. In singleplayer, turning off mirrors can give you up to 10 moer frames per sec, but please dont do it in multiplayer :-). The lfs Handbook for s1 can give you a good overview on what the options do. Yes and dont forget to set the minimum sleep back to 1 ms.

Maybe you want to try some mild overclocking on your machine...turn AF and AA down, if you have a graphics card with hardware shading...

Joy2Key is a program that i use to map the buttons. Works really well and it is also possible to map multiple game controllers to diverse function. (I have an additional gamepad attached to my wheel for the f12 stuff.) This way I also use button clutch now, although i am not sure, if this makes me any faster...

I once had a link to the original download destination, somehow it doesn't seem to work anymore, but you can download it on our team website (drt.net.tc) in downloads, tool, page 2, jtk374en.zip

Have fun
