Quote from The Very End :Been there, done that. It's almost as good as the barrier bug - which has been around since day 1.
Why this and the barrier bug has not been fixed on 8 years is beyound me

Good entertainment it is, not as fun doing this by mistakes in leagues and such hehe.

It's been there so long it's apart of the game now

There is but technically with this logic everyone in LFS should be satisfied with one base model car and a tweak.

I agree with OP I was thinking about making a similar thread lately.

Many many hours and 10's of thousands of km's driven. Great sim

Quote from S1ck0 :I know it's a lot but it would be so cool :P, or maybe a tuningshop or something so u don't have to drive a stock car. Like I said i know i'm asking a lot! It's a sim so you would have to do tons of calculations but it would be epic :P. Hell for something like that i'd spend some money.

You know you're a LFS fanatic when your choice of TV is dictated by whether or not it has a VGA input so you can play LFS on a bigger screen.

You know you're a LFS fanatic when after a long LFS racing session you get in your car, push down on the clutch and realize the car is an automatic

You know you're a LFS fanatic when after you realize that your car is an automatic you estimate when the car will change gears, back off the throttle while pushing the imaginary clutch while shifting the imaginary manual gear box.

You know you're a LFS fanatic when you enter a corner in real life and the lines separating the lanes seem completely redundant and illogical as you follow the best racing line for the particular corner.
3 wheeled car

Another random idea.

Maybe I should write these down on word instead
F*ck no.

I had a thought just now and have been pondering with it for the last 35 seconds.

I watched a top gear episode of the reliant Robbin the other week and it got me thinking, what would it be like to drive one of those?

After looking at prices and considering buying one for the experience I thought no.
It would be far better to race one of these, in Live For Speed.

So my suggestion today is a 3 wheeled car loosely based off the reliant Robbin for S3.
The size of the car should be between UF1 and XFG with 2 wheels at the back 1 on the front and an engine 3-4cyls between 800cc-1.2L

I know what you're thinking
"Oh wow this idea is awesome!".. I know right

I think it would add a different aspect to LFS, it would require great skill and practice to master the cars handling capabilities. It would make for some quite fun, interesting and highly competitive races.

After a look on ebay they're much cheaper than I first imagined, I think I will go for something over 600w

Quote from Crashgate3 :Surely this is the problem? You should plug the VGA cable into the back of the card.

Ignored.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :

As I said the PSU is completely useless so if you install a more powerful PSU (I would recommend OCZ or Corsair personally) with at least 400w you should be fine. Alternatively in your position I would upgrade to a 750w+ PSU from a good brand which should allow overhead for future expansion.

Regards,
Jay

I'll go price up a few tomorrow, this isn't really a high end gaming computer but I would like something to play games with some decent graphics.

If you think 400 is enough i'll go with that, I'm only running one internal hard drive and two externals for media.
From what I can see in the internals it is only the DVD drive, hard drive and graphics card that requires a power input.

Tomorrow I will pick up something around 400watt

This was a cheap PC, the good thing was the processor (3.4 duel core)

Quote from S14 DRIFT :If you plug your X300 back in does it work again? Have you tried the 9600GT in another machine?

What sort of PSU are you running? You need to have 18A on the 12v rails so my next bet is that your PSU isn't capable of running the card. It may very well have enough to run the fans but not enough to actually function (if I only have one of my two PCI-6 power cables in, the fans on my graphics card goes completely crazy but doesn't work until I have both plugged in)

I think I'm also right in saying that the 9600GT requires a PCI-6 power adapater as well, if your PC is completely standard (IE bought with relatively low spec from a shop, which as it had a X300 in it, I imagine it would have), you probably have a generic 250w PSU which would have neither the PCI-6 power adapter nor the headroom to power the card, even if it did.

Check on the PSU in your machine (there would probably be a sticker which shows the amperage and watts etc). As a basic rule, 350w minimum would be required for this card and it must be able to supply 18a on the 12v rail (any fairly recent and well branded PSU would be able to do this for a small price)

If I plug the X300 back in yes it works,
I am currently running the VGA into the motherboard

Windows recognized the new hardware and attempted to install it

PSU is 210w

Does this mean I need a new power supply?
