Quote from holy mate :Lots of stupid questions

Now, you're just being stupid. I mean, i don't like Klutch's style, and I was as annoyed as anyone when he kept posting pictures of himself, but he sure likes his style, he is as normal as everyone here is. He obviously has a life, he goes out with friends, he enjoys himself, and best of all, he IS himself.

We don't like his way of dressing, he says "meh." and keeps being like he is!
In this sense, he is WAY better than most of the people, who (when someone doesn't like their style) panic and change to follow others' style.

So, Klutch, keep being like this (if you want), change if you feel like it, but most of all, ignore all the people that say "ugh he's different, he's wrong, we're right etc."

Quote from tristancliffe :If you click on a shortened URL to a Youtube vid, it opens a page in Safari for that video. Clicking on the video opens it in the Youtube player. I don't believe I've had a problem with that, either from twitter, forums or Facebook.

+1, the problem is with other video sites that use flash. But I've been on a site that used HTML5, and it's faster on PCs and usable on iPhones.
(EDIT: it was the Apple site btw)

Flash just keeps creating problems, even on my Athlon X2 4200+ with 3GB RAM: on Firefox it said that "a plugin is slowing down the system". Which plugin? Flash of course.

HTML5 FTW.

A - Do you like FIAT as a brand? 2

B - Do you think FIAT is a brand mainly for young people? 2 (Only 500s are)

C - Do you think FIAT is well considered out of Italy? 1

D - Do you think FIAT cars are cheaper than the average? 2 (If I want a cheaper, roomier, more equipped 500, I'll buy a new Ka, which is basically the same car)

E - Do you think FIAT cars are sporty? 1 (Only Abarths are)

F - Do you think FIAT cars are reliable? 2

G - Do you think FIAT is growing and becoming a better brand every day? 4

H - Do you think FIAT is the most famous Italian car manufacturer? (talking about standard cars, forget Ferrari and Lamborghini) 5, but that's hardly an achievement, being the others brands Alfa and Lancia...

I - Are FIAT commercials and publicity good? 5 (The best there are here in Italy, actually)

J - Would you buy a FIAT? 1 (Only an old Panda to have a little car that's cheap to buy/run and that you can park everywhere without panicking if you bump somewhere)

Just that you know, I think that FIAT doesn't stand for "Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino", but for "Fermati Idiota Abbiamo Tamponato" (= Stop Idiot We Ran Into Someone).

Here in Italy, that happens lots of times... Not only because 80% of the drivers are idiots, but also because even the pedestrians are mindless.

For example, my mother was going to the shops in her little Fiesta (she's not a fast, neither an unsafe driver). To go to the nearest supermarket, she has to cross a small town with lots of zebra crossings. A girl was running on the pavement, arrived near the zebras, and run straight onto the road without looking. My mum stopped as fast as she could, arriving at less than half a feet from the girl's legs. The girl said "politely" to my mum to go f**k herself. And kept running.
So, here they think that zebra crossings = invincibility.
There's also the popular belief that "If they run me over, they have to pay me back like I was new!", not thinking that a 30mph, 1,5ton, metal, glass and plastic thing has more chances to survive than a person.

Another thing that I can't stand, is that people usually stand still (speaking, chatting, saying hello to someone etc.) on the pavement near the zebras. It has happened that I stopped to let them cross the street, but they looked at me like I was an alien, and kept chatting. To be honest after that this happened to me, when I saw people standing up there, I didn't stop. But they wanted to cross. So I had to pray St. ABS to let me stop in time.

Actually, the iPhone also does that by default when you send an e-mail... But that means that the producer actually thought it would be cool to have a Blackberry, an iPhone or an hi-level Nokia...
I can't really see an e-mail with at the end "Sent by Nokia 1100", can you?

Just to be clear, I've nothing against mobile phones that do what a mobile is supposed to do, and nothing else. Just to prevent a whole load of Nokia 1100 users that writes me a full review of his mobile with all the features that my phone hasn't got...

About the battery "fault"...
Yes, that's true, having a backup battery is a very clever idea.
Having an iPhone (and so I cannot change the battery), I leave in my car a travel charger that plugs in the cigarette lighter, and a retracrable USB-Dock cable, so that if the battery dies, I can charge it a bit to make an emergency call.
That said, even if I could, I wouldn't leave a lithium battery in my car, so I would buy a in-car charger, like I did with the iPhone...
So, really, I don't feel the lack of an interchangeable battery. But if it doesn't work anymore... That's a different story.

Well, I sometimes actually feel the lack of having the possibility to open the back and pull out the battery... when it crashes xD
But you can hard reset the thing by pressing the Sleep/Wake and the Home button together

Well, earplugs ARE headphones.

Then, if I have to listen to something while being on the train etc, I use the earplugs. If I want quality I come home and fire up the Hi-Fi.

BTW, if you listen to MP3 files, it doesn't matter with what you listen to your music, it will have bad quality.

Quote from Velociround :But you can't do that with your iPhone, which has its own port for TV-Out, and requires the Apple cable.

I can use a normal minijack-RCA cable, it's just a software limitation.

Quote from Velociround :The N95 also comes with bluetooth mono headphones. The iPhone doesn't come with anything.

It comes with normal stereo headphones, the 2G and 3G ones have only the "end call" button, the 3Gs ones have also volume buttons.

Quote from Velociround :Now, talking about bluetooth (snip)
iPhone - supports opening and editing Office (all versions) files through QuickOffice application.

...AND normal bluetooth connectivity through a jailbreak and iBlueNova.

Quote from Velociround :InfraRed part

Quote from Velociround :30FPS or not video part

I've seen a video recorded with a N95. Oh dear.

Quote from Velociround :pictures part

These pictures were taken in NY with my iPhone 3Gs:
One, two, three and four.
As you can see, the first pic is taken outside, like 11am, clear sky. The second is at night, the third is inside the Natural History Museum, so close to no light but, still, focused and not blurry. The fourth is in Central Park, afternoon, like 5 or 6 inches from the squirrel.
Just to compare, here are two pictures taken with the iPhone 2G:
One and two.
As you can see they're not so bad.

Quote from Velociround :N95 can transfer files through bluetooth, wifi, infrared, MMS (yes, not only pics or videos, but any file).
It opens compacted .zip files by default, and with a simple free app you can make it also open, view and decompress .jar, .rar and other formats.
Another thing it has is a built-in File manager, which the iPhone doesn't have.

I can SSH in my device through wifi, and you don't have a file manager because you don't need it. Jailbreaking it, though, you can have it.

Quote from Velociround :- Bluetooth

Having a full QWERTY keyboard, and being it very good, you don't need a bluetooth mouse/keyboard.
    Quote from Velociround :

Well, I can transfer files through the USB cable and wifi.
      Quote from Velociround :

        Why?
        Quote from Velociround :- Infrared

If a mate needs something to be transferred via IR, I think it's his problem, not mine xD
Quote from Velociround :- 5MP camera (iPhone ranges from 2MP to 3.2MP)

More MegaPixels doesn't mean more quality.
        Quote from Velociround :

Quote from Velociround :- Flash (Flash Lite 3)

I prefer surfing easily through my touchscreen then continuing to press the "down" button but have Flash Player, thanks. And then, for YouTube videos there is a built-in app. Or you need flash for something else? To be clear, no offence intended xD
Quote from Velociround :- File manager

              Has via jailbreak.
Quote from Velociround :- Mini USB port

Quote from Velociround :Features the N95 had since 2007 and the iPhone had to implement years later, through software updates. Some of these features are only available for the newer released iPhones:

At least Apple DOES support and enhance older products. My old iPhone 2G was born without the scientific calculator, voice memos, the astonishing AppStore, screenshot capabilities, copy/paste, import contact from SIM etc... now it's almost 3 years old and it does have all this.

              Quote from Velociround :

Quote from Velociround :And the iPhone CAN'T make good use of bluetooth, CAN'T display flash websites, CAN'T take pictures with camera flash, CAN'T...
The N95 not only "does" these things. It does them well.

I'll race you to give your phone to my grandmother, and say to her "Here's the calculator. What's 2+2?". Or "Enlarge this picture for me". Or "Go to that link down there and open it". Then give her an iPhone. Only then we'll discuss what phone does better what.

Quote from Velociround :I agree with you. It may be easier to use when you have never ever used it before, but you'll use the phone everyday, for every task. No matter which phone you choose, you'll always know how to use it. The N95 is not difficult either. Do you know how long it took me to understand all of N95's buttons, from the moment I got it home after purchasing? It took me 1 minute to realize I didn't know how to turn on and ask a friend (I was used to hold the end call button as ON/OFF on my friends' phones), and then about 5 minutes to learn what every button did (by pressing them one at a time and check out ). And you know what? The N95 is my first cellphone. I had never had a cellphone before this one. I didn't even know what T9 was (and it's great, by the way, I write with it almost as fast as I write on the PC).

With the iPhone it would have took you less actually. The N95 has 33 buttons (am I right?), the iPhone has 4 plus a switcher. I assure you, I had a N70 which, basically, has the same user interface then a N95. I mean, to change the ringtone you have to: Press the "Menu" key, go to "Tools", then "Profiles", then right soft key ("Options") on your profile, then go down to "Personalize", and finally "Ringing tone" (9 seconds for me), whereas with the iPhone you just have to press "Settings", then "Sounds", then "Ringtone" (5s). That's it.

Quote from Velociround :If I use an iPhone for a week I'll spend the whole day playing games, and I'll need to bring my N95 as well for using the features the iPhone doesn't support.

Because of course you use bluetooth to transfer files every day, or turn off your TV-set with your phone, not knowing why you didn't bother to use the remote control... Meh.

On the other hand, if you gave me a N95, I would need to take with my at least my old iPhone, because otherwise I would spend half of the day managing to understand how does the damn thing work, and the other half connecting it through wifi, bluetooth or something because I couldn't have all the music, videos and pics I have on mine.
                      iPhone: from 8GB to 32GB (plus some 2G with 4GB memory);
                      N95: 8GB max.

                      No way.

Quote from Velociround :To sum up everything I want to say, I'll just post this:

Firstly, the phones aren't quite comparable, and that picture is quite old... it shows a 1st gen iPhone running iPhone OS 1.0, and it doesn't say what the N95 doesn't have... like for instance the 3.5", 320x480, capacitive multitouch screen, covered with GLASS, or the intuitive user interface, or the gesture-based scrolling and zooming...

iPhones now have video out port (well, that has always been there, hidden in the headphone port), MMS messaging, GPS with turn-by-turn directions by TomTom, Navteq, Navigon etc. (3G and 3Gs only, from OS 2.0), auto-focus, 30fps and 640x480 video recording, bluetooth stereo (3Gs only, from OS 3.0). And now it's coming OS 4.0 with added multitasking and other cool stuff.
That said, I have NEVER sent an MMS or tried a video call.

                      Then:
                      (found on the Internet)
                      Picture taken with N95
                      Picture taken with iPhone 3Gs
I cannot see much difference, can you? Or can I? Maybe I'm a little biased, but the difference is that the 3Gs' is focused... So, even if it has ONLY 3mp, it's a good camera.

I mean, the N95 is a good phone. Yes, it CAN surf on the web, it CAN watch youtube videos, it CAN play games... in the same way my Astra 1.2 75bhp CAN do 100mph. If I had a faster car though, I would have gone at the same speed, but with a little bit less effort... And an iPhone it's easier to use, full stop.
I assure you: if you use an iPhone for a week, you'll never return back to your old phone. That's what I did btw.

(Yes, the N95 was released in March 2007, and the iPhone in June, but then -August- Nokia released the N95 8GB).

Quote from Homeless_Drunk :I knew someone was going to throw out the "you can't afford" ideal. That's another thing I forgot to mention, smugness. Most Apple users are smug about their products and have this overall impression that their products are better than everyone and anyone else, and that's too bad. You just went and proved that point.

Did I ever say I can't afford their products? No, you assumed it. Why even bring that up? I chose to spend my $550 on a phone that is isn't designed to be obsolete and who's software doesn't cripple the user experience.

I care if a company claims they invented and own IP that they did not create. I care when a company doesn't give credit where credit is due. Multitouch is a great example of Apple being Apple. So is the name 'iPhone' (was owned by Cisco) and 'iPad' (Was owned by Fujitsu and also Transform Tecnologia de Ponta). So you are incorrect when you say "btw, which big company doesn't, these days?" because no other company does what they do, they **** everyone else, claim ownership and then attempt to gain ownership though lawsuits and out of court settlements. No one cares because its Apple and they are flawless, right?

You assumed, on the other hand, that it was referred to you. I just said that 90% of "against-Apple" people can't actually buy any Apple product, and maybe hasn't ever tried an Apple product. I can be wrong, but did I quote you? Did I actually name you? I think not.
I can't judge you, and being miles and miles away from you I can't know if you can or can't afford an iPhone, nor I want to know. For what I know, you could be in the 10% or in the 90%. I don't care.

Then, cripple the user experience? Well, now I know you haven't tried an iPhone. Even the first gen iPhone (I had that as well) was faster and easier to operate than ANY other cellphone I've ever used. Even faster than my uncle's brand new HTC HD2 (Leo) (cost? 550€. - an iPhone 3Gs 16GB is 599€, it's better built, smaller, a lot lot faster and -but that's an opinion- better looking).

And actually yes, I don't care if Apple is run by criminals, as long as it gives me the best products for me (i.e. what offers me the best PQ ratio).
                      But actually, here's a not-so-old picture (March 2010):

that's what I meant with "all big companies do it".

And by the way, they don't say "we invented the name iPhone, iPad etc". As I know, they regularly took it. Cisco lost its rights on the name after not using it for years. It was then Cisco, knewing that Apple was interested in the name, that said they used it illegally; and, until now, I've used lots of "multitouch" displays, even capacitive ones, but none responded as well as Apple's. And I'm not the only one saying it.

Then, I'll say that "we have different opinions". I don't care about yours, you don't care about mine. That's it.

I usually buy a product that suits me, of which I like the most things. It doesn't matter if it runs WM6.5, Android or iPhone OS. It doesn't matter if it has an Apple logo on its back. I don't care if the company "patent trolls" (btw, which big company doesn't, these days?), I don't care if the CEO is a moron...
If I like a product, I'll buy it.
My phone just happens to be an iPhone. If it had that style, it was built in that fashion, it had the same speed and the same features, it could have had a banana logo on its back, and I wouldn't have cared.

I've met many "Apple is satan" people, almost 90% of which couldn't afford to buy an Apple product. I mean, I don't hate Apple only because someone can afford to buy a $3,000 Mac Pro and I can't.
I'm not trying to offend anyone, I'm just saying that:
                      - If you can't afford a product, don't say that ALL similar product are sh*t.
                      - If you can afford it, but you don't, don't say that the people that buy these products are fanboys.

A "I don't like that" is more polite and has the same effects, I.E.: who has the same opinion as you thinks you're right, who doesn't have the same opinion as you thinks you're wrong. The end.

                      Back on topic...
I really don't like it. I think it's ugly as hell. If it'll be like this, I'll keep my 3G[S], thanks. But actually i don't think it will ever be like this...

Well, I'd say that elderly drivers are AS dangerous AS younger drivers.
Younger drivers tend to go faster -thinking that "fast is cool"-, and elderly drivers tend to go much slower, causing younger drivers (which are in a hurry, as always) to try to overtake them, even if there isn't the space/the possibility.
I'd therefore say that it's both young and old people's fault.

For example, I was going in my -quite riced up- friend's Peugeot 106 XS as a passenger. To impress me, he went pedal to the metal round a corner, without changing the angle of the steering wheel. So we went straight into the wrong lane, where luckily there was nobody. I then asked him to take me back to my car, and never went in his car since then.

On the other hand, my cousin was having an accident with an OAP. My cousin was in a roundabout, and the old man entered at speed, almost crashing into my cousin's 206. After that they stopped to a level crossing and the man knocked to her window, yelling "You had to give me way, I came from the right!" my cousin, in a friendly way, said him "No, sir, I'm sorry... I was in a roundabout, and in roundabouts who is inside it has the right of way, so it was your fault...".
Seeing that he went mad, and said that she couldn't drive and so on, she said "It's not my problem if when you got your driving license roundabouts hadn't been invented yet!" and drove away
