To be honest, I wasn't impressed by the demo. Graphics are pretty bad and the cars are way to slippery. It is fun at first, but I think it is a game that you'll get bored of very quickly, and I doubt it is worth the full RRP. If you are looking for a good off-roading game, get DiRT 2.
The super-duper Hi-res view revealed alot of standard cars. Standard cars look quite good (exterior-wise.) Only the lack of an interior cam is a problem to same.

Keeping a 650bhp shopping trolley on the road is kinda hard, so you'd expect a few bumps and scrapes along the way.
Damage looks pretty good. If only all the cars in GT5 could have damage like that. I want to see some Standard cars in action now!

Well is good to know something has been said. It gives you the feeling new Patch is coming, but I'm not sure if it's gonna be any time soon.
If you completely dislike the X games and the 'Americanization' of rallying, then you should get the first one.
Other than that, I see no reason why you shouldn't get DiRT 2 instead. It's alot more fun, the graphics are better, and the physics are a huge improvement over the first game.
