the 4850 is roughly twice as fast as the 3870. it also consumes about the same amount of power as the 3870. I'll be buying either a 4850 or a 4870 towards the end of july.

I can't play LFS untill i get a new computer... LFS gives me worse performance than rFactor now. I get stuttering. Hopefully the official patch will be out by then. Will the interiors for all cars be done by patch Z?

154euros is pretty expensive for a 3870. For Live For Speed and most games, the 3870 is good enough to run at 1280x1024 or more. I was thinking about at 4850, but then i'd need to get a really fast processor so the videocard didn't get bottlenecked.

There's no reason to delete Records unless there is a change to the physics that makes the cars slower.

I hardly play LFS at all. i am waiting for the next major patc. I spend what few simracing time i have driving the Historic GT and Touring car mod for rfFactor. Its probably the best mod ever.

Hopefully rFactor will get more laser scanned tracks

the war between nvidia and amd(ati) hasnt settled down yet, so better prices and better hardware will continue for a bit more before settling down.
nvidia just announced they'll be releasing the 9800GTx+ 55nm cards soon for around 220 and those'll probably drop in price.

I dont know how expensive stuff is in the NL, but you should be able to get 2 19inch monitors and have enough left over for a better videocard than the one you currently have. or maybe crossfire? i dunno if ur mobo has 2 pcie 16x slots.

yeah the 4850 is a pretty cool card. if thhe gddr5 version is out before you order it. you should go for the gddr5 version.

psu= power supply unit. its the big square usually near the back of the case hanging at the top w/ the big fan. it may have the wattage written on the side of the box.

for under $150, there's the Nvidia 9600GT. maybe you should get another gig of ram? i think your cpu might bottleneck anything more powerful, but i could be wrong.
