the problem with your CPU is LFS doesn't support multicore processors, so you don't get any benefit from the 2nd processor. but it is still more than powerful enough for LFS. the limiting factor in your box is the 9600XT. Not a bad card, just old. Its actually the same card my dad and a friend have in their computers, and they get 40-80fps in LFS depending on track and number of cars.

i love my HP printer...color laser, network connected, fast warm up (less than 20 seconds from idle), great output (color & bw) and it was only $300. and the install was less than 10 minutes from unpack to first print.

just so you know, the red car is a 2nd gen RX-7 (FC), and yea, the XR does resemble it, but the XR don't have rotary engines. and as for body roll, that depends on how you have the suspension setup on the car.

but sadly, the glowing brakes is a gimic, rather than reacting realisticly, its just flash.

still, i can't wait for the game. i've got mine pre-ordered, and its going to be delivered on wednesday.

the wife's widescreen dell (15.4) is 1440x900 res, so i'd guess that it would either be that res or 1680x1050. And all the dell crap programs are easy to uninstall. that's what i did back when she first got it.

^^^ what spankmeyer said. its not the finish on the screen that determines what the images do at extreme angles, but the type of technology used in the screen.

the glossy finish does help with sharper images, and richer colors, but, it is highly reflective. so, if you are sitting outside on a sunny day, you won't have a huge glare on your screen...you will have a crisp, bright reflection of the scenery behind you. in either case, rendering the laptop almost unusable outside.

that said, if i was going to be working outside, or in an area with bright lighting, i personally would go with the matte finish, as i find it to be less intrusive than the glossy finish.

i'd say, try to find one of each type and test them out, to see which you prefer, but given your time frame, that might not be an option.

i bought (pre-ordered) mine from dell, and got mine for $268 when it was first released. still, that's a damn nice price on it.

Quote from Crashgate3 :In the View options in the game you can move the driver's head from side to side. Use the 'Rotate view' slider.

does this work? because it seems like a much better solution than installing additional software.

Quote from NetDemon01 :So the demo doesn't work with an x800pro? Is this the case for everyone that has this card so far?

cm dirt requires direct X 9.0c. i saw something in a quick search that indicated that the x800 only supports up to dx 9.0b. if that is correct, then that would be why the demo won't run on the x800, despite the fact that it is about 2-3x faster than the x1300.

could any of the x800 owners verify this?

i haven't played it, yet, but it doesn't seem to be all bloom from looking through the screenshots...although there is a fair amount of bloom in the game.

Quote from Becky Rose :Never heard of the song so I just looked it up on You Tube, to me the voice does not sound similar, but make up your own minds... File attached.

never heard the song before, but after listening to your sample and the song, i don't think its that similar either. and i think that song takes the cake for the worst song of the week. that song is seriously terrible.

another thing to consider, if you run your own server, if it becomes popular and saturates your upload, then you're downloading will come to a crawl.

if at a later point, you decide to do this,
you'll need at a minimum:
Apache (or some other server)

you'd probably also want:
PHP (or some other server side processor)
mySQL (or some other database software)

And Apache can be very daunting to configure, as its config file is huge, and has tons of options, which makes it very flexible, if not intemidating.

you'd isp most likely would not like it, like you guessed. most of them have it in their contract that you won't run a server on non-business packages.

Quote from Bladerunner :I just wonder why Ford never built a 'SI' version of the Ka....is it because they didnt want it to be known as a K(h)ASI???

Funniest car name belongs to Toyota though...I would just love driving around France in a MR2

No luck finding the Falcon pic tho

couldn't find the falcon pic either, and i've never seen it before. i think it was only seen in a dream

questions to bladerunner...
not following the K(h)ASI referrence at all. also, not seeing what's funny about an MR2 in france. must be a cultural thing

Quote :Anyway, for centuries and centuries teachers who should have known better told their kids that it was against the rules of English to start a sentence with a conjunction. They were talking rubbish, of course: you can find such sentences throughout Shakespeare, Dickens and the rest of the classics. The effect of their propaganda was that most educated people considered leading with a conjunction to be not only wrong, but unpatriotic, immoral and a probable indicator of unwholesome sexual imaginings.

times have changed. keep up.
j/k

and i wasn't making any comments on your spelling (i'm a terrible speller). in fact, i think i misspelled plagerism and that's how firefox corrected it.

Quote from Becky Rose :you cannot start a sentence with the word "And"

its slow at work right now, so i looked that rule up and found this snippet on a website. And I thought it was funny...

Quote from http://www.gpuss.co.uk/english_usage/start_sentence_conjunction.htm :So when someone tells you not to start a sentence with a conjunction, say: "But I've already done it."

The rules of grammar no longer dictate that one can't start a sentence with a conjunction, although it is suggested that one does so sparingly in formal writing. And its not plagiarism if you quote your source

customization of PC games will likely always be ages ahead of console games. PC games just have so much more accessability to its components.

i have to say before the demo was released, i was actually pretty disappointed at the lack of cockpit views. but once i started playing it, i completely forgot about it and it no longer mattered that it wasn't there. but thats just my opinion

don't get me wrong. i would have loved for them to put a cockpit view in (my preferred view in racing games).

because people would bitch about the interiors not changing when they made weight reduction changes. or they'd bitch about how they did it wrong. or they'd bitch about how they didn't do the interiors at all.
