Ok. I sent a message to a RL ex-F3000 driver, probably he can decide our discussion. btw as I mentioned, this porblem can be seeable if there is no restriction. I dont know why dont you have it. Probably I drive the FO8 much more. But let's wait for that driver.
I really think, that traction control is only to slow the car down. Even the F-1 car is slower with TC, but if it's switched on, it's much safer. (Check the pre-season F1 tests, while they drove the 2007 cars without TC - they were faster!) If the race would last for 65 laps, or so, a good TC setting would be better. But this race will be all about hotlaps, driving on/beyond the limit, so (I think) using the TC will be a wrong decision. Set the car up well, and you dont need the traction control.
With some practice (a lot, actually), you can learn to drive BF1 w/o traction control.
I think Evolution is right, I don't think this is a bug. Sometimes I have that problem in non-restricted FO8 aswell. I've never dorve a racing car with this type of gearbox, but i think this is a feature instead of bug.
I've never thought it's a new solution. After your #7 post, still were discuss about the "shifting problem". Seemed like some people didn't red your post, or even worse, they don't understood it. You were absolutley right. I just wanted to close this thread, because there is no issue to discuss.
You dont have to do anything in the setup. You dont even have to rev the engine up to the limit. You only have to press the clutch, when you want to shift up. Alltogether. Its very simple, almost impossible to do it wrong, so it's the fastest, and safest way to shift in FJR.
1 more thing:
I've just red, that you are willing to organize BF1 race on oval. My suggestion is: don't. Because in LFS the fastest package between the user to the server is 6 times/second. I think it's too weak. at 340 kmh 167 miliseconds is too long. There will be a lot of crash because of the lag. What do you think?
I like the ISL thing, and I'd like to participate the whole season this time! I think the biggest problem was the time. On Mondays people don't have enough time to race through midnight. (Me too, I have jobs to do the next day...) So maybe a weekend day would be better (Saturday especially).
Other 1:
There should two races on each race weekend a GTR, and a Single Seater event. One of them should be the feature race. I would race on each race.
Other 2:
Last weekend I joined the FM's BF1 server, and I was totally surprised about the behave of the people there. FM guys (Keny Popps, and Faliure, maybe others too) was - how can I say - very unkind. First I was kicked because I was using the whole racetrack , they said I was blocking (watch this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_LlKlWY1zBg or this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2GUAuraSwFQ. I don't think they are racing unfair. They are RACING, keeping position.) Than I won the race and I became the worst man in the universe. Thank you, but I know what I am doing. Watch my results on CTRA single seater.
I am respecting you Fishfix very much, I know you tried everything to keep the LFSCAR season 2 together. I respect the other FM members too. Keny, Popps, Faliure: I know you are very fast drivers, maybe faster than me, but you should not behave like this. I was quited without saying bye.
Btw, I hope the season 3 would last to the final race!

It looks like you don't understand what I was trying to say. So, if you don't press the throttle there is no petrol to burn. For the burning sequence the engine needs air. If air intake restriction is set, on off power the cylinders are still empty, so the air intake restriciton should not effect the engine brake, because the engine don't need any air. Now if resticiton is set, the engine brake is reduced by the ammount of the air intake restriction.
Qoute Wikipedia.org - Engine braking
When a driver downshifts to spin the engine at high angular velocity (or RPM) without pressing on the accelerator pedal, the engine converts energy from the vehicle's speed, which is kinetic energy, into a temperature increase in the fuel-air mixture. These hot gases are exhausted from the vehicle and heat is transferred from engine components to the air.
It's not really clear to me, but it looks like, the engine do not need any air whilst engine braking. But, in LFS it needs. ???
Hi,
it looks a bit starnge to me, that if I set air intake restricion for an ammount, the engine brake is reduced with that ammount. If I remember the engine brake depends on the length of the connecting-rod, because if I use the engine brake there are no fuel in the cylinders, so the intake restriction is not affecting the engine brake. It looks like, now the engine brake is calculated from the horsepower and the torque. So, if I set a 40% restriction for a car, the connecting-rod's length is not changed, so it shouldn't change the power of the engine brake by 40%. Actually it should stay at full power.
Hi,
I plan to buy a Driving Force Pro wheel, but I am not sure, it is working with my PC. I can only read about PS2/PS3 compatibility. Is it for PC?
Thanks,
Hi,
does anybody knows how can I downlad my earlier lap racord? At CTRA site I can only download replay files with current lap records. Please help, it's very important!
Thanks!
I am sorry, but I can't participate on the next 2 races, because I have a new job, and every monday I have to drive to an other town, which is 130 kms (80 mi for imperials:nod from my PC and my wheel as well. I would like to, but I can't...
So drive safe, and always wear your seatbelts!
I've built my own H shifter about 5 months ago, but it has been broken after 5-6 weeks.
I used my early racing wheel (it was a Geinus crap) for the electronics, so i didn't need to plan the electronic stuff. I used only the electronic board, the micro-switches, and the USB wire, and it worked. (Of course I had to build a body, made out of wood. The gearstick was a bared Genius joystick, and I bought the gearknob at tesco for 2 euros... The whole thing was only 5-6 euros + 4 weeks of building.)
But, after 5-6 weeks of intensive LFS driving the micro-switches broke one after the other and now only the 1st, 2nd, the 5th and the 6th gear is working.
I saw some video on youtube about handmade H shifters, and they are all using Microsoft Sidewinder USB for the electronics... Maybe it can last for more time...
Time and patient is needed, if you want to do this!!!
