Hi,
last weekend I drove a couple of races in SO and AS3 and I noticed that many racers seem to have problems when being lapped or want to lap someone. As I don’t know if there are gentlemen agreements for lapping in LFS I just would like to write my thoughts about his. Maybe the points are completely wrong and sorry if they were already discussed:
When you are being lapped:
- hold your line..imho the most important thing..line changes confuses and have enough potential for a crash
- -just drive a bit slower on a straight or drive a wider turn to give the racer a chance to lap you without loosing to much speed or forcing him/her into risky maneuvers
- Use a kind of ‘body language’..ex: when you are driving on a straight and the racing line is on the left site of the track, drive a bit further to the left to give a signal that you want the racer behind you let by and slow down a bit

When you lap someone:
- be patient: everyone drives his/her own race and sometimes you just oversee the blue flag..
- watch for ‘body language’ from the driver you are going to lap
- give the diver in front of you the chance for completing the turn
- when the driver in front of you gives you room for lapping..pass him

- don’t ram him/her off the track

As I said these are just my thoughts about this topic and they might be completly wrong

Hmm, thats a good point, but I can 'feel' when the front tyres lock..it's not just the visual feedback (in a roofed car it isn't possible I guess)..the car doesn't turn like I want it to turn or becomes 'light'..at least for me..
Regarding the tracks: here i agree..but at the moment all tracks are challening for me as I just have started with LFS

I prefer LFS over rFactor BECAUSE LFS let me feel the car, the reactions, the surface...when driving rFactor I always have the feeling as if the car is not ON the track, just a few cm above the surface (apart from the ISI- Monza-Oval)..I dont know how explain the lack of feeling the car and tracks better as my english isnt that good

I can only speak for myself; my online sim-racing experience started with GPL (since GPL came out I've raced it online) and Nascar2003..I guess I'm not the 'average' LFS-Beginner..but there are always questions to be answered when starting with a new sim..

can one of the great painters paint me the XFR and the XFG like Tom Coronels Seat from the WTCC (with a blank numberplate). The cars don't need the original sponsor decals on it, I would be more than happy to have the paintsheme to use the cars in leagueraces.

Thx again for your help friends..Gentlefoot's chasis-settings with reverse chamber angles and fujiwara's gear-settings seems to be the perfect combination for my driving style..

Hi all,
does someone has a set for the combi XFG@BL1r? I tried to tweak one I've downloaded but it seems that I'm lost in the settings...in some corners it is horrible understeering (the combi right after s/f), in some corners it is oversteering, and if that were not enough, I don't get the gears right for the uphill-section to s/f..

Without any doubt my alltime-fave so far is GPL..great F1-cars, a great community and the first racing-game ever I could race online..
Another racing-sim I liked very much was Indycar Racing2, from Papyrus as well..
LFS and GTL are equal on 3rd on my personal rank..GTL contains some great historic Touring-Cars and provides good and solid offline-fun against the AI and LFS has, imho, the best pyhsics and netcode of all the up-to-date racesims..

Sorry for bringing up that old topic again, but wouldn't it be nice to have a Papyrus-style replaysystem with cutting and saving a single lap..or at least the choice between saving the fastest lap of a session by pressing button vw on the keyboard and saving the entire race/session/laps by pressing button xy..button-names are just playeholders
