POLL: What do you class as an endurance race?

Hello! As part of wanting to plan events I want to find out WHAT the LFS community classes as endurance racing, this information will be put to use in anything endurance related I plan later on.

I could've used google, HOWEVER I wanted the LFS community to voice their opinion on the length of endurance racing.

Hello! I'd just like to say a big thanks to everybody who has signed up thus-far! We do hope to hit our target of 32 drivers by the time of the event! But as I said, thanks to everyone who's signed up for this!

Quote from UnknownMaster21 :what kind of format it is?

he event is raced in a 1v1 style for two runs per race. This basically means a seeded bracket, such as the way football cups are done in some form, everyone is randomly put into the bracket with other drivers, if they win 2 of the runs (3 if tie) they move to the next round of the bracket to go against the driver in the bracket below.

I have attached a picture of an 8 person bracket as example.

EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE Street Obsessions SERVER

Presenting Downhill Dash, the last event from Street Obsessions for 2017.

Downhill Dash is an event based off of the successful downhill events originally written by Huski & TAZxx. Once again, both have teamed up together to bring us this brand new layout.

The event is raced in a 1v1 style for two runs per race, the cars start at the top of the run, then they must race down, the winner is whoever crosses the finish line first on both runs, if the score ends 1 win each a 3rd run tie-breaker will be raced to decide a clear winner.

The races are done in a random seeded bracket in which drivers who sign up will be randomly selected to go into the bracket, this way the races are completely random. As with any kind of bracketed race or competition the winner moves to the next round.

Races will be raced in TBO cars (XRT, FXO, RB4), for a balanced choice of every kind of drivetrain for drivers to choose from. (Limitations in rules)

Due to bracket bye-rounds we’ll be limiting maximum entries to 16 (see below), this is to avoid bye-rounds and to supply a fair, balanced bracket for everybody racing. Only sign-up for the event if you're 100% sure you will be available for the event.

Downhill Dash will be held on December 30th, 18:00GMT

The rulebook is simple, both for the benefit of administrators on the night and also for the benefit of the racers. Below you will find the rules of racing.

1. No Deliberate Contact (We understand its close racing, accidents happen, however ramming / pitting is disallowed)
2. If you fall off the layout (EG: Through the railings on some corners) your car is totalled, meaning you lose that run.
3. No cheats or hacks in any way, doing so could lead to a permanent event ban.
4. The car you race in your first run is the car you’ll race for EVERY run.
5. When you're not racing do NOT join the track.

No event would be succesful without amazing prizes. To end the year with a BANG, here's the list of what you could win:

(UPD: 26/12/17)

1st: $15 steam voucher
2nd $10 steam voucher
3rd $5 steam voucher

BIG UPDATE 18/12

Hello, I'm adding this small note here to say we're closing sign-ups at 16, this is for the way brackets work and our want to avoid byerounds, a note will be put here when the 16 is met, if you sign up as a racer after the 16 you'll be put in as a RESERVE, on the night you can still come to the server in case of a driver or two not showing up.

10m thing that I had no idea behind I was bored and had fuel of hardbass. A lot would need fixing, maybe a full re-do, not my idea of fun.

All in all I like the idea, will definately look into participating if it comes about!

As well I've had a look at setup, I cant make the car look not dragracey or stupid with the specified above, the back comes up too much as far as I can work out.

I expect some limitations will have to be made in the setup just due to how the BF1 is actually made.

Okay this seems fun. Been playing a lot of F1 2014 recently. Since this is a F1 replica will the 2 tire compound per race rule be used? (EG: Full tyre change in a pitstop (only way I can see of doing it tbh))

Use either masterskinnerz: http://www.barkingpig.org/msz/pages/kits.php

OR Tady designs: https://tadysdesigns.weebly.com/lfs-skinkits.html

Also keep in mind google is your friend.

I personally dislike the default LFS templates, layering is a great... Great invention, it helps.

Cant remember if you did or didn't. The insim was totally alien to me anyway.

Quote from Yisc[NL] :Just out of interest, what went wrong with the Insim program?

I am unsure of what caused it inside the insim as the insim and server are not mine, however the effects of said error or bug was serious enough to cancel racing that night.

What had happened from a pratical point of view is when a driver left pits (even before race in a practise session) the insim would give the following

Quote :WARNING: You have used all number of rejoins for this race

I expect this insim was bought in to stop people re-joining after spectating or pitting, however that's just speculation.

My decision to cancel racing that night was purely because only one other driver was in the server at the time (Not including myself) which made the idea of a 75 lapper a little bit redundant due to numbers.

As I said previously I am not an administrator of the event, nor a member of Team VTEC. All I can give in regards is why I took the actions I took and what practically happened with the insim, hopefully TechEdison should give us more information of what backroom went wrong.

With hopes October should be better.
Thanks

I don't see why we NEED new physics, LFS has had the same physics for quite a while (I know some tweaks have come out in the past, additions and removal [track :c ]) however people are used to them now, people are fast too.

I agree with Mikus, focus on new content at a more consistent rate, then when the game is back alive then focus on the long-term.

(Or just open modding support now then no new content actually needs to be made) [I'm joking on that last part don't shoot me}

As tonight was my responsibility to run the event for Tech I would like to apologise to anybody who was thinking of attending, due to Insim errors I couldn't fix (I don't know how insim works) the race was undoable.

I apologise to anyone wanting to attend the event due to this. Hope to see you all in the October season.

(P.S I'm not an event administrator I was just helping out which didn't go... As planned ^~^)
