as for it taking the piss to make...well it took a very long time if you look at when the WIP thread was started!

I started out putting side and top pics of the car onto the BF1.. but decided it didnt look very good so re did the whole thing.. after finding the actual image Honda put onto their cars! Think it looks a lot better because of it though... in hindsight the first version of the car i did was a bit shite

yeah i figured out the 2048 thing just now..though the Honda logo and some small bits were done in 2048


reading through the master skinnerz site it seems people like skins in 1024 after all.. i'll upload the 1024 version too

as for the black mask, i made the skin on GIMP because i dont have photoshop.. so my computer is currently trying to eat itself opening a psd file in gimp

ok here it is! The logo is smaller and more in proportion (hope its ok now)

i'm still not happy with the right hand side, but i guess i've kept you guys waiting long enough

i'll probably update it in the future..maybe even put on the pledges and make Rubens' car

anyway its been tidied a bit more...and put into 2048!

ok, its done..

i've changed a lot since the last one you saw... its now about 1000% more accurate and clear.. but maybe looks like a bit of a mess because of it..

its still not a perfect recreation of the real life livery.. and ingame the lighting can blur the detail a bit..

anyway, here's a final screen shot... i'll release it in a bit just want to make sure its got no glaring mistakes..

and does it look better than the other pics i've posted...? am worried that i might have ruined it a bit..

and also the right hand side of the car...I dont have the shots i need to put america on it....

I understand getting this completely accurate is a huge task, so a less detailed version is still a top effort. You've managed to get the colours perfect

Its in 1024, i cant currently make a 2048 version because it would mean resizing the images i'm using to make it...and making them a lot less clear. Though, once this is done i will have a go...

I'm not that far, most of the car is done but i'm still having problems with the side you cant see in the photo's.

The problem being that it has south america on it...and the photo's i've been using to make the car dont show that side. I'm gona have to get an outline and paint it in or something...but it'll take a while. I havent been able to work on it much lately but i promice to finish it soon

actually the first image there looks bad. The shine from the skin viewer makes it look very blurry....

This is going to take a long time...but i promice it'll look good in the end. The problem i'm having is that the picture that goes on the Honda car..doesnt fit so well on the BMW. For example the Honda does not have a barge board but does have a sidepod fin thing...so somewhere along the line i've had to kind of...make some bits up or stretch some bits..to fit on the car.

In the end...hopefully all the countries will have a clear outline and the image will be quite sharp. Theres a lot of new pictures now which should help getting the textures right...but its gona take a while

I realise its not super high quality...but its very hard to do.

I will me sharpening the outlines quite a lot over the next few weeks so the images will be clearer...but tbh i dont think it looks that bad.

bear in mind the pics i posted here were jpgs done in paint so the quality of them is not good.

No! I'm not going to be using google earth. It does not look right..at all. I cant just change the colours because the detail within the countries is wrong. If i used Google earth the countries would have roads, cars..all that on there..which is totally wrong.

If you think it looks that bad then why not make a skin using google earth yourself, i dont pretend to be one of these godlike skinning people..just i like the Honda so thought i'd give it a go because i like the car. If some people dont like the results then they dont have to use the skin

yes, so far...

africa is on the front of the car, you should be able to make out the UK and france..at the top of the monocock...

australia is on the bottom of the left sidepod..and when its done america will be on the right of the car..

am currently making the countries clearer...still no good pictures of the right side of the car...so its taking a while, hopefully it'll be done soon..

in the mean time...some screens..(i run LFS on a laptop with not a lot of power...so it will look a hell of a lot better on people's PCs)

its coming along now....not entirely happy with it...i will probably update it over time when i can get better pictures...

shouldnt be too long till release now, as you can see there are some white bits waiting to be filled...plus the front of the car will be more detailed

Google earth pics simply wont work for this, all the wrong colours and the detail will be completely wrong. I've been using high res pics of the actual car so far..

the reason some bits are stretched out, and blured is because it doesnt fit perfectly onto the BF1, and needs some editing. I'm trying to keep all the most clear bits on the real car clear on the skin...


in the end, it shouldnt matter much as you wont notice the small details at 200mph!

one side done, the world map is now a lot more accurate, with africa on the monocock and australia on the left sidepod..and the colours stronger though the lighting perhaps hides it a bit

the new attempt is looking much better, i'll post a screen when a bit more is done..

well, thats its the best one i could find..as its from the high res photo's on the Honda site..

I cant find any suitable pictures anywhere, so am kinda putting a picture of the Honda RA107 onto the BMW...

lots of bits need blending in, hence smudging and less detail...i'm pretty useless at skinning (this is the first proper one i've ever done)


So this wont be a super high quality 100% accurate skin..lie Gobby's of last year..

i'm hoping it will look like the real thing, in the game...and the detail wont matter so much there

ok, it was just an idea...

I know Honda are looking to sell cars, just that with their latest plan to do this its possible LFS could get in on it and get a lot of benefit

leaving opinions on its looks aside (i think it looks good anyway)


it could bring benefits for Honda and LFS.


Honda want to spread the message of global warming (and sell a few cars in the process no doubt). Putting their car in LFS is gona get the message out to hundreds of racers every day.

LFS having an up to date F1 car is always going to be good for business. Another one wont hurt anyone

To sum it up, this year the team has no on car sponsors, the sponsors pay to use the image of the car in their own advertising and to be part of Honda's eco push.


I saw a few threads about sponsorship a while back...but i think this could be a real opportunity for LFS.


I was thinking, LFS could sponsor HondaF1racing this year. With the using of the image thing, it might be possible to get Honda's earth car in the game. And also have LFS listed as one of the partners in the new scheme.


As the sponsors dont go on the car...Honda can have hundreds of different sponsors, meaning the cost shouldnt be as high (hopefully).

In return, Honda would be getting their Eco message to LFS's userbase. This group is probably one of the most energy thirsty of all! LFS could also maybe give the Honda message too. This may seem silly but maybe when you exit LFS it reminds you to turn your pc off at the wall or something.


To summerise:


LFS sponsors Honda's earth car.

LFS gets: Hopefully the earth car in the game. And the exposure that goes with sponsoring an F1 team.


Honda gets: Its message out to LFS's userbase.


maybe a wacky idea but i dont think its too impossible
