LFS's Wind Model

I tried to search for something on this but found nothing so i was hoping that the general LFS population would be able to help on this.

What way has Scawen coded the wind within LFS. With 'no wind' there is obviously no wind. With 'low wind', what are the parameters of the wind speeds and does the wind actually change direction during a race? Also, does the wind speed vary as time passes. Same question for 'high wind'. What are the parameters of the wind speeds and does this wind change directions and vary as time passes?

Input greatly appreciated =]

I agree too. Very annoying when someone just comes in and hits their shift-r buttons.

Nup, they're both running at 1280x1024 and at the same freq too. That windows + L thing works a treat though. Doesnt' log me off msn or anything, like hibinating does.

I don't think it'll be graphics card related because i havent' touched any of that stuff recently either. Newest direct X, i shall try though.

Ahh okay, but it involves getting out of Windows as such. Much like my hibernate method.
Thanks anyway guys

Yeah, i would assume it's a windows problem rather than LFS, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced it before.

As for the second problem, yes i have reinitialise controllers and it doesnt' help.
Black screen after Exit + Uncalibrated axis

I have two problems with my LFS. Occured about 1-2 weeks ago. I'm running LFS patch U, none of the test patchs.

My first problem is that when i close lfs, via the exit button, it goes back into windows, but everything is black. I cant' see anything except my mouse. The only way to make it work again, is basically to restart the computer. My work around for this is to alt-tab from LFS, and then close LFS via ctrl-alt-del method.

My second problem which occurs sometimes, is once i open LFS and join a race (ie, waiting in pits to come out) my wheel goes crazy. What it seems like to me is that all the axis of my wheel (Black Momo) are jumbled. When i turn the wheel a bit, it steers a little in that direction and then back to the right again really rapidly. The same happens when i push down on the accelerator or brake. Basically undrivable. I have recalibrated the wheel and it doesnt' help. Only fix for me is to restart the computer.

Anyone else having these problems, or is this something to do with my computer? I havent' installed anything new either.

lol, yes i know that i can just rename and upload it and that'l work, but i didnt' want to upload the same skin just with different filenames because i couldnt' identify that the one already upload is actually the same.

But anyway, disabling my firewall enabled me to see the skin that had that filename, which was the same skin

All good =]

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but i tohught it might be better than starting a new one.

When i try and upload a skin to LFS-world, i get a msg saying somethign like there is already a skin with that name on the database, which is understandable, but underneath that, it should show the skin that has already been uploaded. Instead there is just this little picture saying "No Access".

Any help here?

Yeah good point. Maybe not having weather monitors from real places but more of a virtual LFS world, where the weather repeats every 30 days or something with some randomness.

As for the day/night, yes definately. i dont' want to be racing South City in the dark all the time

Quote from Worldfamous :Assign each track a real world location, Aston in the same area as Donnington for example, and then have LFS World pick the weather data for Donnington off any number of forecasting sites on the web and in turn relay that to any LFS game with the option enabled.

Day/night cycles should always be in the hands of the host in my view.

Granted, I know there must be far simpler ways to do it but that's how I'd like to see it done personally.

That's a great idea.. And when you wanna race, you check LFS world to see what is the weather on the track you wanna race.. IT would be great, like if it is going to rain or not, it's cloudy, you must decide what tires do you want
OMG, this whole idea of real weather is SO great! I sure hope it can be developed!

Yeah, what i said at the bottom of my first post, except in more detail. It'll be heaps fun, and i agree with the idea of having day/night settings on the host side, maybe like what the lap and qual function is now, where you change the starting race time by hours.

Quote from Shotglass :i already suggested something similar ie adjusting the weather on the server so it resembles the weather at the servers location
the downside of this would be that most people have the choice of either racing through the night most of the time or join a laggy server somewhere on the other side of the earth

Yep, that's a problem i see as well, so maybe just weather conditions? and on the server side have a race starting time, so you can set it to midday or something and race on from that time, while the host takes the weather settings off LFSworld.

Orion, i know i'm dreaming, but you must if you want to live for speed
S3 Suggestion (Live streaming of weather conditions via LFSworld)

I dont' think this has been suggested yet, and this suggestion is based upon the fact that we will have day/night, dry/wet races in S3.

I was watching the Sanddown V8's here in Australia and noticed something that would be great for LFS. Commentators kept refering to the weather map as it was predicted to rain, and then sunny and rain again, and what not (Melbourne Weather) but what i'd thought would be cool is to have a live stream of weather from LFSworld onto all the hosts that have .. lets say weather 'enabled'.

To add to this, each circuit has it's own weather map as such, which racers can access via LFSworld and watch as the clouds (or just those red and blue shades of colour, i dunno what they're called) roll in and cover the track, and in sync, the weather on the track changes accordingly.

Maybe even have a 7 day forecast?

True that. LFS demo users and S1 licienced drivers have access to S2 Content movies which should be enough for them to buy it as well as all the chat that occurs in the chatbox, so if they want S2, they should pay the extra 12 pounds. Well worth it definately!
