Figured someone might enjoy this

They're not great, but I think they turned out alright.

Quote from The Very End :Hehe, I allways wondered why people doing insane times online compared to WR's and such. Maybe it's because of the extra adrenaline they get by racing races, I don't know either way impressive to race combo's where people goes below WR's by doing some insane driving.

Quote from JJ72 :you can draft online.

that basically explains it.

yeah, I have a UF1 oval time that I believe is about 6 seconds faster than the WR.

werd. I would love to hear some straight cut gears.

Quote from BoneCrusher :Graph looks ok to me. But what happens to the point when the tire becomes overheated. Perhaps you can test that? In my opinion a tire should not become overheated as easily as it does in LFS, because the warmer the tire gets the more heat it radiates

the test was done on road supers.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :What could you do? Can you do insim? can you high quality skins? Can you code or make websites? Sell yourself..........

I'm gonna agree here. Bartering is where it's at now, just post up what you're good at and maybe someone will find you useful.

Me? I do web design, photography and programming. It can't hurt to pick something you like and ask to see if anyone wants your services in return for a favor of giving you a voucher.

so uhh... anybody wanna buy me a month of iRacing in return for any services? lol

Quote from Hallen :
As far as the heat loss goes, I don't know for sure, but it seems that the cooling would not be a linear processes. It would cool more rapidly down from higher temps, but then slow down considerably as the temperature of the tire dropped. This is just intuition, but real physics have shown millions of times that intuition is patently wrong. eg, which weighs more, a pound of lead or a pound of feathers?

just got done with my experiment. it seems what we thought is true and is modeled correctly. the graph is attached. please keep in mind that there might be a max difference of .2 to .5 seconds on each time.

Time on Y axis, temperature on X. It was from that temperature down to the next lower temperature. Hope that makes sense.

I was reading this thread and also was thinking about temperature cooling/dynamics... wouldn't a hot tire cool faster than a warm tire simply because of the temperature difference from the air around it? it shouldn't be a flat temperature model. I believe I will do some experiments and see what the result is!

I like the idea. I've started to get bored with the tracks in LFS, but I hope to get something fresh soon. I enjoy South City a lot, but something either with more elevation changes or bumps would be fantastic in my opinion. I hope that we can see something like this implemented, but we would have different versions of tracks like "SO42009" etc... It would be interesting, but I'd rather see more modular tracks developed.

Quote from diNOSaur :I race on mouse so I can break on full power every time. That means I cant prevent wheel lock when I break at bumps, after hills etc. There I need abs. And when I break before a curve and a slightly turn (driving fwd) my inside rear wheel will block and get flat spot. Those are examples when I need abs on but when I break with turning and my outside wheels are on curb abs can make my breaking distance get longer and racing line will be changed because of breaking force will be 90% to front.

my point was that if you need to stop (someone crashes in front of you) it might be better to have it off. I still think the pinnacle of driver control is braking.

Quote from heson :Flipping TC can be used to heat the tyres by burnout, flipping ABS has no use I can think of.

Did you know that you stop quicker in the dry by locking up your tires than if you have ABS?

Road and Track tested this a while back and locking up your wheels stopped quicker(only slightly) than the ABS.

on gravel, wet roads, obviously this was different.

Quote from John5200 :i dont think so... if it would be faster, why does EVERY racing series use secuential / h-shifter

because automatics are less efficient than manual gearboxes. In a race with an automatic car with 300whp and a manual car with 300whp, the automatic will win. When you're talking about horsepower at the crank, the manual has about 5% less loss from the tranny and it will be faster as long as the driver is decent.

The reason to be used on road courses are already stated.

Quote from ShUckErU :so an auto trans just like in real life would be cool, to suit everyone. dynamic shifting (optimum shift point dependent on acceleration) i call it. so you can cruise race or w/e u wanna do

yeah because during a race if you let off mid turn your tranny is going to think that you are just wanting it to be put into 5th. You want that?

The way the autobox is setup now is good, don't take it out if you update it, but rather, add another version of the automatic so that it will please the cruisers.

Quote from jwardy :Hi , I will speak with my team mates , but seeing your stats and short time in lfs, you will have to do a trial , ill get back to you asap

no problem. I am willing to do a tryout.
