I really hate to say this, but Duke Nukem Forever is a joke, and always has been. Yes, I know there is a new 'trailer'... I know, I know. Doesn't mean there is an adapted engine, a concept or even a single weapon or level made. It's just a stretched out joke by the 'developers', whom are trying to find out how long they can keep getting media attention by releasing a 'trailer' every 3-4 years or so.

Developing games costs money, and developing a game for 11 years (or however long they've pretended to work on the game) costs more money than they would want to spend on a project which has managed to produce a 30 second teaser trailer with outdated graphics and no gameplay. It's not coming out, I'm sorry.

However, to answer your question: I look forward to Spore a lot, although the constant delaying of that game is also starting to become... annoying.

Read it while I was in Finland. Great book; gunporn at its finest with a fairly scary, potentially realistic terrorist scenario.

It's actually the first book I've read in years, and I think I might just get into the whole reading thing if I can find a new book to go through. I'm thinking Stephen King, or maybe one of those books by Clarkson. We'll see ;p

Does it produce lift or downforce?

If you're going to get an 8800GT, check out cool-prices.nl and dollarshops.eu, they're much cheaper than alternate, and their stock is also quite good:

Quote from bbman :Tristan tries to explain to you (for the umphteenth time) that there is an error in your usage of the term downforce... Yes, downforce is the opposing force to lift, just like friction/drag is the opposing force to propulsion... BUT, if we take the TT for example, adding the spoiler to the rear wasn't adding downforce, the spoiler just optimized the airflow so that less lift occured... There is a big difference between less lift and downforce...

People nowadays don't comprehend that not having one thing doesn't mean the opposite...

Can't it be said that the wing does generate downforce, but not enough to reverse the lift generated by the car? (thus giving the car less lift, but no downforce)

Or am I simply confusing myself now? ;p

I don't get the whole problem here, some people seem to misunderstand the situation entirely.

You (Greg) were raised in a 'black' culture, and this means that that culture is a part of you and will always be a part of you, regardless of your skin colour. I don't get how people can say: "You're white, start acting white!" - Germans are white, Russians are white, Finns are white and 30% (or whatever) of the rest of the world is white; do they all act the same? There is something fundamentally wrong with the idea that social behaviour is based on the colour of a person's skin!

The culture and social environment you grow up and live in defines who you are, not skin colour. This means that a black boy raised by a Japanese family in Japan will inherit their beliefs and values - you definitely won't see him 'gangsta' rapping his way into and out of every social scene, unless he grows up with others who choose to do the same. It also means that a white kid in New York, whom grows up in a predominantly 'black' culture will integrate - in this case it would even be bad if he didn't! I'm sure it's a lot of fun being white in a black environment and not having any friends, or fitting in at all.

I think that some people seriously misjudge how culture affects social behaviour - the way you act is not programmed into your DNA, it's formed by the social environment and culture, and the younger you are, the less biased you are by the useless crap that racism is, and thus you will integrate normally with whatever social environment you are placed in.

This means that (in my opinion) it's perfectly normally for you to act the way you do, Greg, and although people may say otherwise, it really is who you are, even though it does look strange. :P
It also means that you will still continue to change now that your social environment has changed. If everything goes the way it normally does, you will begin to adopt the slang and style of your current environment, and slowly change - this isn't because you "aren't being yourself" - it's because that's what humans do; we adapt.

Quote from welshys90 :but it would just be down to practice i suppose once you do something enough times your gonna b able to do it without seriously thinkin about it

Rally Driving is always multi-tasking, as the driver has to constantly listen to the pace-notes. I suppose that it leaves any rally driver with enough spare capacity to have an interview whilst driving on a known track.

Takumi, can I ask you where you bought the 8800GT?

[Dutchmode]

The only time I saw the clutch heat was when I was testing the effects of it, and when I let my mate (whom has never played LFS) drive the FBM for a couple of laps. Unless you are completely missing your shift-points or doing something else which I cannot explain - there is no way in hell that the clutch will heat up during a normal race. I see no problem here.

Quote from ajp71 :A Bonneville salt flats car, a Corvette Sledgehammer and a Bugatti Veyron are all a big engine shoved in a car that go fast in a straight line, any major car company prepared to put up a lot of money for a loss leader could have designed and built the Bugatti Veyron with ease, the only technological improvement/difficulty was the tires everything else was a pretty simple PR exercise.

And you don't think you're oversimplifying the design-process of the Veyron when you say that it's just a car with a big engine shoved into it? Not even in the slightest? I'd say an estimated production process of 5 million quid per car is a bit steep then.

The Space Shuttle is also basically a lumpy-looking plane with heat-tiles glued onto it, that sits on top of a giant rocket to get into orbit.

... actually it is, but that is besides the point ;p

Quote from ajp71 :The Veyron is completely pointless and doesn't do what it does well anyway, a Mclaren F1 is nearly a ton lighter and doesn't need 4WD or aids to be safe. Of course it's not really usable on the road but round a track I bet it would be far more fun than anything 4WD.

The Veyron is pointless how? It's pointless from a profit point-of-view, but it was not designed for profit. It was designed to be a road-car that could hit 400km/h, and it does just that. I honestly don't see how people can say that something with so much research and technology and progress - whether indirect or direct progress - is pointless. That's like saying improving old technology, or designing new technology is pointless altogether. We might as well still be driving cars from the 40's.

I don't know, maybe I'm just the only one who sees past the "lol wut; it can't do corners as well as a McLaren F1 anyway" perspective and actually appreciates a company engineering what was previously thought to be impossible.

Quote from =C.R= Boomshanka :Right I gotta say

1) Live for speed is a racing Simulator
2) Drifting is racing
3) to Drive a car and win requires Skill

im realy fed up of ppl telling me drifting isnt racing it is go to japan go to well anywere any drift comp you will enter normaly refers to you as "racer" racer 102 and racer 203 to the line please is what youll here

to answer the question on AI Drifting is mabe in a few more years with the way AI is goin yes they might be able to drift its mainly the throttle control and the angle of the car up and down shifting that would have to go in unlike racing you cant take the same corner drifting as you could last time round drifting dosnt go on for 30 laps theres about 2 mabe even a sprint drift,

so to sum up

*drifting is racing
*AI drift aint gonna be about for a while yet (yes i know about Drift City, but i dont call tht drift)
*Anytype of racing requres diffrent skills

after about 10 laps of hotlapping and then going online and getting a better set from someone, I managed a low 1.16 online. I think squeezing another 3-4 seconds out of the car is definitely possible when the time comes, although I can go into mid 1.13's at most right now. Looking for some low 1.12's as WR a couple of weeks after the patch

Well, he might have been a complete dick when you saw him, but he's not a greedy dick. If the driver loses his taxi-license then Schumacher won't turn a blind eye.
