You're starting to become a quality chav for real.

First you say you got engine problems but no money to fix it, then you buy a load of crap for your car and start painting stuff in your engine bay in stupid colors... what's next, neons?

At the end you'll sell it as a molested car with technical problems...

Nah, it just never ceases to amaze me what garbage people will listen to, just because it has a catchy rhythm. I guess people just wanna be entertained.

Judging from your favorites, you listen to a lot of really awful music (sorry, music taste is something individual but i just had to...).

PS: Nice drifting!

So who's playing this?

My impressions so far...

Physics/Controls
Feels a lot like Dirt2 really, the only thing that is new is tyre deformation (i can definately feel it, it's also possible to see it in replays actually... not as good as LFS, but it's there). Feels slightly arcade sometimes (i think the cars still rotate around a center axis). Nevertheless, cars handle well and are responsive to your input. Feel of weight could be better, it's not bad tho, better than GT5 or FM3 at least. It's not a sim, but close enough to be very enjoyable.

I regret it a little that i've decided for the xbox version, since people on PS3 are reporting the game to handle quite nicely with a G25/G27.

Gameplay/Content/Career
They said this one would focus much more on classic rally stages again... which isn't really true. There's only four countries for rallying and quite often you're driving parts of the same stages. Needs more countries with different stages urgently!

I'd say it's almost an even mix of classic rally stages, Trailblazer, Raid, Rallycross and Gymkhana. If you're hoping for a lot of rally stages, you'll be left disappointed. Also, roads are still far to wide for a rally game...
Gymkhana is a great addition tho, it's a lot of fun!!

Car selection is nice! There's some good variety from modern WRC cars to good old classics (going back as far as 1960 even).

Difficulty is good for me. There's a setting you can adjust going from 1-6 (6 being the hardest setting). If you play it on "pro", difficulty is set to 5 and so far i didn't feel like raising it to 6... if i do a very good run, i usually finish with a lead of about two seconds at best.
I had to restart some events a few times because of minor mistakes. Gymkhana events are actually pretty hard to master perfectly... there's always bronze, silver and gold to win, which are easy... but then there's also platinum which can be very hard to reach (replayed a single event for four hours yesterday until i got it right!). Definately feels rewarding IMO!

The career is ok for me since i'm trying to win everything and get all platinum medals, which requires lots of restarts for the difficulty i chose (and my driving skills). However, if you are either REALLY fast, or don't care about platinum medals or finishing 2nd in a few rally stages... i guess it could be way too short for some people.

IMO it's a fun game to play with a nice mix of events and cars.

Graphics
Again, pretty much like Dirt2. I feel like water splash effects looked a little nicer in Dirt2 actually... otherwise i couldn't really see a big difference.
For an xbox game it looks very nice. A little too much blur/glow/etc for my taste, but then again, this seems to be a big trend nowadays...

Haven't seen any glitches or "ugly" things so far. It all looks pretty good to my eyes (again, for an xbox game that is).

Online
Haven't played it online yet to be honest. The new modes should be quite entertaining (capture the flag with cars in a gymkhana arena for example)!

If it's anything like Dirt2, i know i'll have a lot of fun!

Somehow i like it, somehow i don't.

I generally like the look of the game, the facial animations, etc... but at the same time, i'm finding it hard not to fall asleep while playing.

That sounds like very safe driving there.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Wow, pretty unsafe rule. In Serbia you can't overtake a column (2 or more vehicles). People do it all the time though, it's just against the rules (and rightly imo).

Why is it an unsafe rule? If the conditions allow for it, there's nothing unsafe about it...

Let's make an example:

You're driving on a 5km straight and even road with perfect visibility. To the sides of the road, there's even fields of grass, no trees, no rivers, big stones, whatsoever...

You have two cars in front of you doing 50km/h, while the speed limit is 80km/h. Those are the only two cars in sight (5km straight road), no other living beings in sight either, just you and the two cars in front.

Now you take over the first car doing max. 80km/h. Then you could either go back into your lane between the two cars, only to begin overtaking the 2nd car a few seconds later... or you could overtake both cars at once. Where's the difference exactly? If anything, the latter would be more safe.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Wat? You can, but it's not legal and far from safe ffs. Unless rules in Britain are different on that matter which i doubt.

As long as you don't go over the speed limit or it's not a "dangerous move" (whatever that means exactly), it is perfectly legal to overtake multiple cars (at least in switzerland it is).

Why do you even bother replying to him? He's out of his mind again...

PS: Don't make me search his post, but i believe it was blueflame who once stated in another discussion, that he would bump into somebodies tail on purpose, if they'd drive too slow in front of him... and all of a sudden he wants to talk about safe driving... freaking hypocrites.

Quote from (SaM) :Well it's official gentlemen; she and I are moving in together tomorrow!

I've been postponing it for a while but now I feel there is nothing that makes me happier than to share a living together. It's very practical too, I'm starting my own company working from home which I can do anywhere with my PC, a phone and internet. It's making me feel more excited than ever but in the back of my head I know we'll do well. Nothing is guaranteed to work out and it's going to take many compromises, but you'll never be happy if you stand still in fear of the next step forward.

Best of luck and lots of fun!

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :I still remember when the biggest argument for consoles was "You don't have to install games, just put them in and play." It makes me laugh quite a touch.

I never had to install a game on my xbox. As far as i know it's optional with all the games (to reduce loading times).

Shame about the car physics... Sounds like a very stupid move from rockstar, considering how great the physics are in gta.

OHHHH YEAH SAVIN' DOLPHINS.

You shouldn't do that. Maybe it will not ruin your transmission, but it's not good for it. I know on the S2000 it's a big "NO NO!"... it's well known skipping gears will destroy the synchros.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Again your hatred for the world of tuning shines on through.

That's probably a fairly accurate graphs, supercharged cars as I'm sure you are aware are deadly smooth in terms of torque plus it's amazing how fancy a stage 3 remap can get...this takes days instead of hours and can result in a graph like that thanks very much.

It's not hatred, it's knowing better.

You're still young and don't have a lot of experience with the car tuning scene probably.

My father has close to 50 years of experience in the automotive industry, has studied machine engineering at the swiss ETH (very well regarded technical university), worked for half a lifetime in the industry, was the president of the swiss automobile club, etc, etc. In short, the man has seen A LOT and knows even more when it comes to car engineering, engine manufacturing, blablabla.

I don't know the background of tristan very well, but from what i've picked up his family has great experience also in this regard.

I also know a guy from germany who worked for several years with porsche, is mechanic for a GT3 race cup team since almost 10 years, etc.

All these people say the same things about car tuning. Most of it is bollocks, fake dyno readings, not worth the money, etc.

I could give you endless examples of bad tuning that actually decreased power instead of increasing it, ruined handling, ruined engines, etc.

It is also well known that especially in america, car tuning and their gain figures are to be taken with a grain of salt. Because a lot of it is heresay and simply made up figures, etc.

There is car tuning that works and actually improves a cars handling/power. But it's usually VERY expensive and still at the cost of reliability.

You're telling people with lots of first hand experience and knowledge to back it all up that they are just "hating" and have no idea what they're talking about...

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :Chances are you'll cover hundreds of thousands of miles and nothing goes wrong. But look at it like this, the guys in bomb squads can get lucky and defuse hundreds if not thousands of bombs without issue. Some will turn into pink mist first time in the field. It is dangerous business and you cannot predict what will happen.

Yet the video makes perfect sense. Simple message is, keep your eyes on the road.

I've crashed into the back of a car (luckily at a low speed) because i was looking at my radio for a second... while the car in front of me stopped, to let a pedestrian cross the road.

I've nearly drove off a street because of writing a text message.

I still do it occasionally (looking at the phone, etc), but i admit it's bad and can be VERY dangerous. If you argue against that, you're just a bit stupid to be honest (directed at dustin).
