Quote from J@tko :BTW, how the hell is Azerbaijan in Europe

[Yes, I know its part of the Broadcasting Union but hey]

How about Israel? I can't work out for the life of me what freak of geographical nature brings a country with Africa on it's border into Europe. Why not invite Syria and the Lebanon in too?

Ah I couldn't resist posting in this thread..

Helicopters are my job so MAYBE I'm a bit biased but I'll go for a UK aircraft first, the good old Westland Lynx, still one of the fastest rotary aircraft out there.

And how come nobody has mentioned the Chinook yet, did you know it can carry another Chinook underslung from it? Yes it can carry it's own weight. Very impressive.

Hope to see some Burt Rutan designs in this thread at some point.

Quote from hyntty :What's the point in making a protest if it can backfire on you?

Well I guess if you think it may backfire on you, you probably wouldn't say anything would you?

On the other hand, if you're sure you've done nothing wrong, then you've nothing to lose by making your protest

From the admins point of view, we're trying to lift the standard of driving of all competitors, if they drive cleanly, they'll be OK, if they drive less than cleanly, they'll get penalised. 'Simples' .

Hi Racers,

One issue that I noticed has reared it's head is that not enough protests are being made.

When the admins look at incidents after the Race weekend, we rely on our observations from the race as well as any protests made by drivers. We just haven't got enough time to be able to go through each and every race from every driver's perspective. So we need your help!

If you think you've been subjected to dirty driving, then make a protest! This is the way we will clean up and improve the standard of driving for all iTCC competitors.

Having said this, we don't want racers inundating us with protests for a little bit of rubbing and tiny contacts. So make sure you've got a case before you file a protest please.

Well done to all for your particpation so far, we have had four of the most intense rounds of racing that I've seen in LFS since I started using LFS back in 2004. Long may it continue!

Cheers

Nah, I like that idea, it might just work. White, black, red, blue, yellow, green, purple, etc etc.

Only problem is there's more CoRe drivers than there is colours Only kidding...please try it out for Round 5 and let us know who's who via PM

Hi Racers,

Result of Driver Investigation from Round4, Race 2 - Rudy Van Buren

57 Rudy van Buren was placed under investigation by the admins during Race 2 due to a contact between the driver named and 16 N. Scott.

'Van Buren makes an over-optimistic passing move on Scott. Having drafted Scott the length of the straight, Van Buren puts his car inside Scotts but is not far enough ahead at the apex. Despite trying to keep his car from touching Scott's, as the drivers go past the apex, Van Buren drifts into Scott, who in turn is pushed towards the wall where he crashes and loses positions.'

Van Buren receives a warning for causing an avoidable accident. Since this is his second warning of the season, he is deducted 5 points from his championship points total.

Warnings

33 B. Keough (See Round 4 Protests)
57 R. Van Buren (See above Driver Investigation)

Penalties

The following drivers have received penalties at Round 4 of the iTCC Touring Car Championship

33 B. Keough - 5 point deduction
57 R. Van Buren - 5 point deduction

On a brighter note, it's pleasing to see that, these incidents aside, the standard of driving seems to have improved since Round 3. Well done to all drivers!

Cheers

CPU Suggestions wanted!

Hi guys..

I'm building another PC for a friend and am trying to figure out which CPU to use.

The ones I've looked at so far:

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 - (It's what I use and I know it's good!)
Intel Core 2 Quad 8200 (slightly better in some applications than the Q600 - and cheaper)
AMD Phenom II X4 940 (slightly better than the Q6600 for the same-ish price)

Can you guys give me any advice on a processor around the £160 mark? Is the Q6600 still the processor to beat at that price or is there something else?

Cheers

Hi

You can download the unedited race broadcasts from the links below, however look forward to Dekojester's much better edits pretty soon.

In future I'll try to make the broadcasts downloadable from somewhere. Look out for new on this. And before you ask, we had technical difficulties in Shootout and Qualifying, so no BC's available for those. Sorry.

Protest deadline will be Midnight GMT Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.

Quote from shiny_red_cobra :Why not the Radeon 4870X2 instead of 2x Radeon 4870?

Yeah he's gonna need enough DVI outputs to go to 3 monitors. I don't want to spec him a PC that is then limited in some way (number of DVI outputs). If he goes with TH2GO rather than SoftTH then he can make the use of the cards in Crossfire, whereas if he uses SoftTH he can use the DVI outputs.

Speccing a rig for a friend - advice please!
Joe_Keaveney

Hi guys..

So I've been asked by a friend at work to spec up a rig for him. He's into flight-sims in a big, big way and so I'm going to spec a gaming rig for him. The sorts of things it will likely need to do is run Flight Simulator X, displaying to either a Head-Mounted-Display OR a 3-screen setup.

So I'm looking to spec (and probably build) a fairly powerful PC within a reasonable budget (£1250), with good graphics capabilities. Two graphics cards are also a priority for the (more if possible) 3 - screen solution.

Anyway here's a provisional build. I'd like your advice on what to change, bearing in mind the budget. He already has the basics (keyboard, mouse and monitor) so I'm just speccing the rig rather the monitors and stuff. Vista will be bought seperately.

Antec case P182 Black Super midi case NO PSU ATX - £116.29
Corsair PSU 550W VX550W ATX12V v2.2 - £72
Gigabyte motherboard EX58-UD3R Intel Core i7 X58 LGA1366 DDR3 ATX - £165.50
Intel CPU Core i7-920 2.66GHz - £241.49
Nexus XiR-3500 Copper edition CPU cooler - about £40 with adapter plate
2 x Sapphire ATi HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E Dual DVI Retail - £372.62
Samsung 1TB Hard Disk Drive Spinpoint F1 SATA II - £79.34
Corsair RAM memory 6GB XMS3 1600MHz DDR3 8-8-8-24 - £164.83
Pioneer DVD DVR-116DBK Black IDE - £20

Total cost - £1272.

Overclocking is definitely NOT needed, he's not into that and the rig will just potter away running flight sims, period. So what I'm looking to do here is purely to spec a good rig within budget.

Cheers! And thanks in advance for any advice!

Just for a bit of info:

Live rates at 2009.03.25 09:38:09 UTC

The Zimbabwe government redenominated the ZWD again on February 2, 2009 at a rate of 1,000,000,000,000 old ZWD to 1 new ZWD.

The current rate as of 5 minute ago was

1.00 USD

=

186.610 ZWD

But it'll be double that this afternoon probably

Anyway, I can't imagine being able to profit from the Zimbabwean currency. If there was a coup/revolution/change of government that brought about stability, I would imagine the currency would be revalued again or trading would be suspended (if it hasn't been already) - either scenario would leave you with a load of worthless paper.

Don't listen to me though, I know jack all.
