2) MANUAL PATCH - If you already have version X :

- Click http://www.lfs.net/file_lfs.php?name...TCH_X_TO_Y.exe and save the patch into your LFS folder.
- With the patch correctly positioned in your LFS folder, run it and select "Yes to all" when asked about overwriting files.

That would be the easiest I suppose. Or try to find a U to V patch first.

Quote from J@tko :for example, there's one guy who's going round binding. 'This version sucks - give me back my XRT' 'The patch is s****y, I wanna drift'.

Of course, try and tell him that he can drift if he buys S2, then he gets even angrier!

Well, he will grow tired of it when he realizes he isn't going to accomplish anything by that and that the XRT is not coming back. LFS is not losing anything when he decides to quit or something. Just the type of people we don't need nor want.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :I personally think removing the XRT from the Demo was one of Scawen's best ideas. Although giving them the FBM? I know it was part of the agreement with BMW, but god...it's like feeding your dog with the family china...

Not really if you look at the bigger picture. The demo now gives a much better impression of LFS, and will hopefully attract more serious sim racers instead of...what it mainly seems to attract now.
Scavier were already planning to replace the XRT with a singleseater in order to make the demo a better demonstration. If they wouldn't have been approached by V1/Fortec, the FOX would probably be in the demo now.

Quote from FQ400 :Ok I am a little upset with the new patch Y. Don't get me wrong all the updates are amazing and everything else but, after I updated I went on to play and realized that ALL my setups are gone. I still have everything else such as skins, engine sounds, etc. but, all of my setups are gone. I'm a drifter in the game and had many many setups for almost every car and now I have to restart. I know some people are going to say suck it up and make them again, but it's not as easy as it sounds. Anyone else upset about this problem?

Your setups have not been removed, just moved and renamed.

Quote from Ssr_Nick :will do.. but ill enjoy not going over a second slower..

I mean seen as we FUND this game they should atleast let us know of changes before hand and have a vote of what to do and what not to do..

and blackwood is now SHIT!!

Quote from LFS end-user license agreement :
1.4You must be aware that we can alter any aspect of LFS as we see fit. Improvements, fixes and/or changes made to the game, are to be expected.

Goodbye.

Scawen, Eric and Victor, congratulations on setting a new milestone for LFS. I think this patch has become a very important one, probably the most significant in recent history. Some great developments that lead LFS into the next era. Scawen, I genuinely admire the way you handle the development and your ability to keep your head clear through all the discussion (often good and useful, but often times also bad and nonconstructive). I would have gone insane, that's for sure. After hearing your voice in the patch Y preview video I think you must be a very calm and rational person (you sound so calm and "zen-ish"
Anyway, I'm loving the new patch, take your rest now guys, but I can't wait to see what the future will bring us next

Oh, and a Merry Christmas to you guys and your loved ones, and to everybody in the LFS community

Second oh: to the people complaining about being slower now: boo-frecking-hoo! Ask yourself what the goal of racing is (or should be anyway) Is it enjoying racing with people and aiming for the best possible classification at that time or is it setting new PB's? I seriously don't get the problem. It's just been released today, buckle up and practice to get faster. And enjoy the challenge instead of waisting your time complaining.

Can you picture Kimi Raikonnen complaining "I'm so pissed right now, they changed the chicane at Monza, now my laptimes are 1 second slower Change it back! Change it back!"

I read a thread about it on a tech forum I visit. This was somewhere in the S1 era, really can't remember when exactly but it was still in the demo stage. Really liked it and saw great potential. After playing for a while I entered a sort of "lost interest in gaming fase".
Built a new PC, forgot to redownload LFS and kind of forgot about it (shame on me :shy. Years later through the same forum in a topic about rFactor I was led to RSC, but didn't find a demo or anything. I explored the forum some more and came across the LFS section, thought "hey, I remember this!", downloaded the S2 demo, was delighted about how much it had improved, bought it shortly after that. Been stuck here ever since.

Still don't get why it took so long after the original duke 3d for them to make a sequel.

That's where switching graphics engines every 6 months or so and starting over multiple times will get you.

-a well performed drift is faster on sharp turns or turns that require heavy braking.

On tarmac especially a racer also has to take tyre wear into account. So because of that drifting around the corner is hardly used in circuit racing. Rally is a different story though.

I'll believe it when I see it.
Postponing a title as much as DNF can only result in disappointment imo.
It's been like, what, 10 years?

Quote from viper-2007 :Hi i do karting as you can tell by my avatar but i just wanted to know if there are any other real life racing drivers play lfs i guess there are quite a few compared to some of the driving skill on lfs
(no offence normal lfs'ers) and is there any one from NATSKA on here please reply if you do any real life racing

There's probably several people who drive or have driven racing cars. Whether or not there are people who are actively racing at the moment I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me. I read some comments recently from someone who has driven Formula BMW, can't remember the name atm (sorry )

You can't just slap on the decals over the side of the car like that, on various places they have to be aligned and properly connected over the various parts. Visit http://www.lfs-gear.com/kitz.html and get the skin kit for the fbm. You can open the .psd files with photoshop, paint shop pro or the gimp for instance. Once you study those it will start to make sense more

quoting psychology articles from wikipedia makes you look so smart!
talking about reading into stuff. the arrogance is astounding.
And like the very end said, you don´t HAVE to say anything. Just keep your big mouth shut if you don´t care and don´t go provoking people.
That´s all the breath I´m willing to waste on this.

Quote from rainspecialist :i no s3 isnt even close to coming out but will s4 ever come out or is 1.00v or known as S3 the last LFS? i will b so sad if it is

Originally LFS was meant to be released in 4 stages, so an S4 was planned but it was limited to three. And afaik what happens after S2 is not sure either. There's a possibility some other form of releasing will be used, Scawen probably hasn't made any decision on that. And I doubt he will before S2 has been completed.
I wouldn't worry about it because as you say there's still a long way and years of enjoyment to go.
And are those exclamation marks really necessary?

Quote from JoeVega :Man, sorry if I'm violent in my words, but I think u're an egotist. U think if u are racer, everybody have to race in lfs... I always liked LFS for it's REALISTIC physics, and in reality people can race, can drift. And if u say "lfs is ONLY for race", u mean that lfs' physics is NOT realistic. I dont think so. I like to drift, and u can't tell me not to drift in dis game.

Where did he say you have to race? where did he tell you not to drift?
He only meant LFS focuses on racing, and does not cater specifically to drifting. That's just the way it is, but you're totally twisting his words and adding stuff because you read into it a certain way.
