As mentioned in the written and verbal drivers briefing, triggers were setup to monitor track limits at some key areas of the track. If a driver triggered a cut detection loop they would be notified of this. Due to the fact that this is the first use of official track limits detection, we have decided to be lenient on the application of penalties for this round. The penalties below are given to those who continued to abuse track limits through the race. Each of the 180+ triggers were manually checked and very slight or false triggers were removed. The stewards decided for this round, a driver will get 5 'free' violations before a 2 second penalty would be applied for each additional violation. Please note that this penalty scale will continue to be implemented and adjusted as we go on.

Car 03 - 2 Second Penalty - 6 Track Limits Triggers
Car 06 - 4 Second Penalty - 7 Track Limits Triggers
Car 18 - 4 Second Penalty - 7 Track Limits Triggers
Car 36 - 16 Second Penalty - 13 Track Limits Triggers

The following Cars had 5 or fewer track limits - Cars 02, 09, 10, 11, 17, 21, 30, 31, 32, 43, 46, 47, 59, 67, 78, 80, 85, 87, 88, 92, 98

During qualifying, the stewards checked the laps of everyone with a track limit trigger on their fastest lap. We apologise for the length of time this took to implement but we will be working on a better way to do this in the future.

Car 02 - 1 Lap Time Removed - Track Limits
Car 09 - 1 Lap Time Removed - Track Limits
Car 46 - 1 Lap Time Removed - Track Limits
Car 48 - 1 Lap Time Removed - Track Limits

GT2 Challenge 2020: Round 2 Race Director's Notebook

Hi All,

Thank you to the drivers who participated in the 2nd round of the GT2 Challenge 2020. It was great to see another packed grid! Here are a few comments from me following round two:

Communication
I think that having you all on TeamSpeak was a great tool for me to be able to communicate with you as well as the in game messaging. We will look to continue to use and improve our use of this method of communication. In game messages will always be the default but that backed up with voice communication really helps to inform everyone what is going on. I tried to copy as much onto voice chat as I could but please remember that both in game and voice chat are both as important as each other.

Free Practice Virtual Safety Car Exercise
First of all, apologies for the error we had in the insim this time around. We hope to have this fully working for the next round and hope to utilise VSC more where possible.

The Free Practice VSC Exercise will be repeated at the next round to allow you all to experience VSC before it is used for real. I plan to run 2 lots of VSC deployment in the last 5 minutes of the free practice.

The first deployment I encourage you all to be on track and actually go over the VSC speed to experience the procedure and warnings you get when you are over speeding.

For the 2nd deployment I would encourage you all to treat this deployment as a 'real deployment'.

This way it allows you to experience what you should and shouldn't do under VSC as well as what warnings you will get from the system.

Start Line Incident
During the first lap start line incident, I decided to go for Safety Car. This was my initial reaction to the situation from what I saw of the incident and the cars left behind. In hindsight, I could have chosen to go red for it instead. Should that type of incident reoccur, I think I would do. However hindsight is a wonderful thing and as ever, I aim to learn as much as possible from this type of incident.

General Driving Standards
I fully appreciate that this type of 'sprint' GT series comes with the caveat of some door banging, but I hope next round will see some better driving standards across the board like we saw in round one.

Incidents/Protests
There were some comments made mentioning that a lot of incidents happened in the race that should have been looked at by the stewards (who were stuck most of the race reviewing incidents). However, there were very few protests logged to back this up. I hope this is a sign of drivers talking to each other following an incident and sorting it out between themselves. Myself and the stewards can only review so much and can only see so much at once so if there is an incident that you are not happy with, then report it to the stewards who will review it.

Following a penalty being applied in race or post race, I am more than happy to explain the reasoning behind the penalty or rule. However, we will not be able to reverse or change a penalty from this discussion. Should you feel strongly that the penalty is wrong, please follow the appeals procedure proscribed in the NDR Sporting Code.

Yellow Flags
Following a few incidents, more care needs to be taken when approaching a yellow flag or any incident. From the incidents the stewards have looked at, none of them initially resulted in any penalties however, the onus is on the drivers to make sure you obey the flags. We will be monitoring this.

That is everything off the top of my head but as always if you have any questions, comments, suggestions etc please pop them in this thread or fire me a PM and I will do my best to answer them.

I hope to see you all at Aston which I am sure will bring some new and interesting challenges for you all!

Thanks

Car 33 - Drive Through Penalty - Overtaking before S/F line restart 1

Quote from Spiiiky :I just reviewed 1st and 2nd restart but I did not overtake anyone before S/F line. Could you kindly review this again? Race is over and it won't change anything, but I believe you are wrong here.

After reviewing again, #33 did not commit this offence and the penalty was in error. We have sent a full apology to Spiiiky for this error. Unfortunately, these errors do happen from time to time but we will take this and lean from it as always. We will do our best to do everything we can to prevent the same from happening again.

I will be putting out some notes following this race as it was all a bit mental but just a few quick notes.

As CSF said, chat was a bit out of control this time. Penalties for such were not possible to apply in the race due to all the others and stuff going on. These will be applied post race. Next time, this will be reinforced more and should there be a need, we hope to get these completed during the race. Chatting without permission need to stop, it is not fair on anyone. When permission is given, this needs to be for vital information and questions only which the majority are.

For the lap 1 incident, hindsight is a wonderful that and I think if the same happened again, I would have called red. My apologies for that but in the time, I chose the right action. This happens from time to time and will be noted for next time of which I don't hope to have.

Due to the number of penalties, some of them will be applied post race.

I am sure to be going through the replay several times to pick things out, both from my side and the drivers side.

I hope that next round will be back to the way we had round 1.

Thank you all for coming. As with every event, we will learn a lot from this race and will improve our operations where needed.

Specify Track Map Rotation (In LFS or LFS Remote)

Hi,

It would be useful if we were able to rotate the track map be it either in the sim itself or on LFS Remote. When administrating, it would be good to sync the game with LFS Remote so it is easier to find incidents between the two systems.

E.g. Westhill has T13/14 at the top in Remote but in LFS it is rotated 180.

Thanks
Jon
Rewind Replay
Jonathon.provost

Hi,

Not sure if it is possible or not but a rewind option for replays would super super useful. In a similar way to the way the fast forward buttons are now.

Especially for league administration, this would be a huge huge time saver. Mainly with long replays, getting to the right point in the replay can be a lot of forward and backwards.

Thanks

Lap AND MPR timecode of incident: L1 / 3:00
Car(s) involved: 10, 47
Location of Incident: back straight
Brief Description of Incident: car no. 10 drives in the middle of the back straight, I (car no. 47) attempt to pass on the right side, car 10 then keeps squeezing me to the edge of the track until collision occurs and lag sends me into the wall.
My car was already 2/3 beyond the white edge line at the moment of contact...

This was reviewed in race.
