I can get to the server, but I get 'booted for possible cheat' message.
I did try a couple of different GTR2.exe files for no-CD etc. Can anyone tell me the size of their GTR2.exe? I guess mine is wrong...
I want to try, but am confused.
I have GTL, though not installed anymore. Do I apply P&G mod to that? Do I need to dl GTR2 as well? Are we talking about 2 different things here?
Do this do that much.
Well right now there are 300 licensed racers online, and 500 demo racers.
Is the balance right?
I agree that some amount of 'demo' will encourage people to buy, but it seems that the majority will just keep on taking what's free. In the meantime, I'm struggling to find a decent race because there aren't really enough licensed racers for more than one public server, so you get all sorts in there.
People wouldn't keep playing if they weren't 'getting benefit' from the demo. And no-one can complain if they are getting something of value for nothing & it's then restricted.
I also imagine the number of people who really can't afford to buy is a very small fraction of players. People are just getting too used to 'getting stuff for free'.
Where will it end?
Thanks to sa for organising this, and to the other admins who gave their time.
Was generally very good racing, with relatively few annoyances, and I enjoyed taking part.
I enjoyed racing this round, and the organisation was very good - it all seemed to run smoothly.
Racing standard on the whole was good & clean & I had some nice battles. I did seem to be on the 'smelly' end of several peoples mis-judged moves though, losing a lot of places overall, and I hope that isn't going to continue through the season!
Shot in the dark request for help.
I downloaded this, along with Code:Blocks & the latest MinGW.
It doesn't want to link though, and I get the following error:
ld.exe cannot find -lpthreadGC2
I'm guessing it can't see the lib, which is in the project directory.
Can anyone shed some light?
I got TAAs insim demo to build & run. It has no libs though.
Wow - great weekend, I'm sure everyone will agree.
Thanks again Jason & co. for all your efforts in organising the whole thing. I know a lot of effort was put in & it was much appreciated. Impressed that you even managed to sort the weather!
Nice to meet everyone too, rather than just reading all your forum spam.
I usually race FXO. Didn't really try others yet in this patch.
As others said, main reason for FXO 'domination' is that it's easier to drive, so more drivers will finish higher, but I've seen the field pretty evenly matched on some tracks. That could make restrictions unbalanced again at higher skill level.
Though, I still don't understand why locked-diff FXO doesn't just completely shed it's rubber in 1/2 a race.
I'd be interested to see some experimentation with restrictions. (FXO can actually benefit in some way from slight power restriction.)
Reason being that a lot of people seem to want the matching done in the code, which actually is the same result, but how would this be determined other than real feedback from many real races, with many different drivers? Such as CTRA.
Thankyou for saying so. I always try to be all those. I didn't intend this
thread to turn out so bad. I usually stay well away from forums...
Well I know I got the corner wrong. I have no problem with being passed, I'm no points whore, I just don't like to end up punted off the track. Seems I read the situation differently than others.
Ok, I'm sorry this has turned out this way, I probably shouldn't have posted. Yes, I was just ranting as I felt I was wronged. I drive to improve my driving, not criticise others. This was my intention, even if I didn't make that clear.
I love to drive on the CTRA servers - in fact I don't drive anywhere else and I always *try my best* to race clean & fair & hope all others do the same. I always treat others with equal respect on track.
I hate to make reports & have only done so in the past for obvious wreckers.
The fact that the reports system is there & works it great, so thankyou. Please don't think I'm ungrateful for it.
Sam.H sorry, I've clearly made you angry. That was never my intention. I guess I felt aggrieved, so sorry for my apparent tone. I wasn't trying to suggest anyone was stupid.
Why did I report? - I genuinely believed he was in the wrong. I watched the replay over & over from both points of view. Had I been driving the other car, I would consider myself at fault in that situation.
What do I want? Just clean & fair races where people win with skill & not brute force.
Why did I post? The implication in the report was that I caused the collision by rejoining the track in front of another car.
If I was off track & rejoining, then I accept full responsibility, but I didn't believe this was the case & this still seems unclear.
Where is the correct place to discuss reports? I've looked around, but this seems the only place.
I didn't particularly post to discuss this incident, but was curious whether anyone shared my opinions that the general standard of racing on CTRA servers, in terms of fairness, is pretty low. There are several drivers who are always clean & fair, but they stand out from the crowd for that fact. I always try to be fair & avoid crashes - both my own & other peoples. I make mistakes like anyone, but if I feel someone else lost out because of my mistake, I'll do as the rules suggest & put it right. It just seems there are few people who do the same.
In the case of this report, really I have nothing against the other driver & don't expect them to receive a penalty, it's just a typical example where someone gained through their 'mistake' where another lost out & an *apology* would have been nice.
Maybe I expect too much?
Yes, I was also disappointed that the admin did imply that I was to blame - I was apparently 'driving erratically' and 'effectively rejoining traffic' (which we just agreed above wasn't the case), while the incident was 'most certainly not attributed to' the other driver. If this was a racing incident & neither driver to blame, then was it necessary to make these statements?
If the balance of blame lies with me, then how could I have avoided this?
I accept that it probably falls into the category of 'racing incident', but I was under the impression that the following car isn't supposed to follow through with throttle planted regardless of who or what is in front of them.
Or do I need to modify my driving style to fit in?
Ok, thanks, that is what I would expect, but I don't know what I did wrong here: ReportID=16148
Apparently, that was my fault. I agree I was off line & had lost pace, but what else could I have done, but keep my car in control & completely to the side of the track? Does the faster car have the right of way?
Could someone please clarify exactly what constitutes being 'off track' to the extent that you are then rejoining traffic?
All 4 wheels off? More than 1/2 car?
And are curbs & 'grass-crete' included in the track, or is it based always on the magic white line?
