Getting hit by a car, no matter how much you try to sugar coat it, its not going to be ****ing safe. It is a fast moving 1.5ton hunk of metal with wheels.

I'll be the first to say i couldn't give two shits if i got hit by a car with a protruding tow hook, because i believe i'd have much bigger problems.

IE; my head smashing into the windshield at 60kph

And no, it's not meant to be like that. Manufacturers have to fit tow hooks that are concealed, mainly due to safety reasons but also because it looks stupid.
