I would like to, when logged in as server admin, have a way to click the ban and kick buttons beside the player's name and just apply the selection instead of starting a vote.
It's really hard to be a server admin and drive at the same time and that's what I do most of the time.
Like I said.
Just start a multiplayer game from your machine. Register some laps etc.
I would not guess that every server would utilize this function. I would only use it when we're having a good race with our regulars.
Yea, I have a problem with "earning" ratings based on averages. It's too easy for there to be inaccurate results based on bad luck. I almost never collide with other drivers but one race there were a number of "swervers" out there (which usually I have a nack for avoiding) that I think I connected with every time I tried to pass.
As a server admin, I think voting someone off is effective enough (or I can use my server VITO power).
Don't say it's not fair. I'm a server admin and I would love to have more control. I'm not the fastest guy out there but when you have guys that can't come within 10 or 15 seconds of the rest of the field it makes for some pretty crappy lapping situations. It wouldn't take long to start your own server do a few laps on the track you want to qualify for and get a reasonable pb.
This would be an "option" not a set rule. If nobody showed up because the expectations were too high then everyone would be racing on servers with lower expectations.
If you run a server you would understand that you want your server, your way, whether it's fair to a beginner or not. I run my own server so that we can race the type of races we like. I regularly get guys coming on complaining about the higher number of laps. If you don't like it go to someone else's server (or get your own set up - it's really easy).
I guess the real solution is to slap stupid people.
I would at least like to try the option to see if it gets people to be more careful. It does happen in real life that someone tries to get their car back to the pit.
I think I would rather have that than some hot shot torpedoing me because he doesn't know where his brake peddal is. At least with the first option I have more control over the collision.
That's less likely to happen, because that type of person doesn't have the patience to do that. I wan't people to value their car more like real life. If you had the kind of care-free attitude towards crashing that game players have, in real life, you would be out of budget before the first race of the season.
I'm really just suggesting it as an option for anal people like me that want to keep it real.
I would like to also include no mid-race teleportation to pit in the server options. If you can't drive well enough to last the whole race without teleporting to fix your car then you wait till next race. This might give people a reason to be more careful.
I was running a long race and this guy kept crashing and conveniently coming out of the pits right in front of me every bloody time.
While you're at it you could make it so there's a more realistic "righting of the vehicle" if you are flipped or spun. There should be a 10 sec. delay or something.
Acutually, while we're on the topic.
Is there a server admin manual with this sort of info in it anywhere? The LFS manual that I downloaded here really glazes over host commands and fine details that I keep learning by asking like this.
I'm trying to figure out an easy way to kick or ban someone while in game. All I can see is their player name not their user name so when I try to kick them I can't.
If I use the names list it simply votes to kick them instead of using my admin rights.
We had a great 15 player race going last night except for 1 guy that was causing bedlam. He just kept pitting and coming back out.
Also, I thought that if you pitted and tried to rejoin when it's set for no midrace join that it would make you wait till the next race. Not this guy.
What up with that?
The next race in our championship is AS CLUB and I can't seem to brake for the final corner without locking up the front right tire unless I brake so gently that it's impossible to do a good lap. So far even with cooking it all I can do is a 1:12.00
I'm using the FZR for a change but I don't know how I'll be able to do a 30 lap race with this front right tire burning up. Any suggestions?
BTW: I can do a 1:11.35 in my FXO with very little practice
It only writes the .dss with a track config of 0.
Even if I manually edit and save it, as soon as DediGui gets the file it sets the config to 0 next time I save or launch.
see attached
I'm all for drama but what is up with the crashing?
I went into the hairpin a little hot at AS NTNL and bumped a car as he was turning in. He went spinning off into oblivion.
Or in an XFR I was playing around and rammed a car at about 50kmph and my car hopped up and flipped ass over teakettle.
Am I the only one that finds this a bit irritating?
No kidding. Have any of you even driven a manual. I heel toe every day on my drive to work. It's not magic.
Yes, you actually use the ball of your foot on the brake and the outside edge on the gas. Or if your peddals are far apart you would have to use the heel on the brake and the toe on the gas. You'd have to be some sort of circus freak to do it the other way around.
