I don't understand the question.

F1 leaderboards? The leaderboard is a list which shows the cars leading the pack during the race. The season has been over since October. The new season won't start until March. Do you mean testing timesheets? Do you mean race results for last season? Do you mean race results for previous seasons?

Why would you be looking for F1 information in LFS General Discussion?

Quote from lizardfolk :
Curious is a night race actually POSSIBLE for a track like Melbourne

Yes. Every F1 circuit except Monaco can implement lighting systems and stage their race at night. Whether it's financially possible for them to do so without going bankrupt, however, is another question.

Quote from lizardfolk :if we DO lose Melbourne what can India (Irungattukottai?), Russia (Neva Ring?) or South Korea (Ansan?) offer?

More money.

Input: AC 100-120V 50-60Hz (imo this is a typo as 50Hz would be useless at 120V)

It's 60Hz AC. Each cycle has a negative and a positive state, giving 120Hz effective. It'll be fine.

Quote from Joe_R :sweet....now my dad is off to buy it but i got another problem about the wheel....it aint turning a full 270 degrees it wouldnt even reach 180 degrees...it can only go around like 160 degrees...does anyone have a solution for this problem?

I think you're misunderstanding.

First, the rotation of the wheel is 240 degrees, not 270. Second, that's 240 total, not 240 in each direction. The wheel has physical stops at full lock, and the odds of the wheel being manufactured incorrectly with these stops in the wrong places are virtually zero.

Your wheel is fine.

Quote from The Very End :W00t, that was pretty close looking compared to Westhill, +1 from me. But I`ll say that to every new track suggestion usually

That perspective is deceptive, because it doesn't have any elevation detail. Road Atlanta is nearly always climbing or descending. The final corner in particular is quite steep.

I'm not sure I understand.

There are three barriers on alternating sides which force drivers to go very very slowly through there. As far as I'm aware it isn't possible to go through there and gain time, only lose time.

I thought it was specifically designed in this way for use as an escape road. I've used this escape road myself a couple times when there has been a massive pileup in that chicane on the first lap. It's very slow, but a sure way to avoid getting crashed into.

Quote from Joe_R :well its ok and i have the Enable Force Feedback box check and all of them are 100%....are the lights suppose to be on at all times cuz right now its not im wondering if its my adapter

By adapter do you mean the AC adapter? That seems unlikely. If you're getting any power at all then it's working fine. Either the wheel is getting proper current or it isn't.

Make sure the plug connecting the pedals to the wheel is in firmly. Then plug in the USB cable to the PC. When you do that the wheel should turn fully in both directions, and one light should come on. When you start a game, the other light should come on.

The settings shouldn't be all at 100%. Overall Effects strength should be 101-105%. Spring effects should be 0%. Damping effects should be 0%. Centering spring should be disabled. Centering spring strength should be 0%.

Quote from Krammeh :I think its just what they're feedback is like (the turning madly).

I doubt it. When I first got my Logitech Momo Black, it did the same thing. Turns out my settings, both in Windows and in-game, were wrong. Centering spring should be off. I can't remember the others and I can't check because I'm not at my normal PC. Someone else should be along to fill in the other two settings.

That looks like a connection issue. My server refresh looks like that when I forget to close uTorrent before starting LFS, especially when the total uploads are above 25kbps. Run a web-based line quality test and a speed test.

It could be your ISP, or your modem, or your router if you have one, or your PC itself. If you have spyware/adware/malware those programs could be hogging your connection. How many processes do you have running?

The problem is very unlikely to be LFS itself.

Quote from Stang70Fastback :Patch Y included, among other things, the new 'stall-engine feature.'

What does one have to do to stall the engine?
Lateralus

I wasn't even aware that it was possible to stall the engine.

...Actually I'm nearly positive that it isn't. In 1.5 years of LFS I've never stalled the engine, even after spinning in a way which would stall the engine in real life. I use auto-clutch though because I only have a two-pedal setup, so maybe that's the mitigating factor.

Another vote for VIR. It really is quite fantastic. It has a great mix of fast, medium and slow corners with numerous elevation changes. There are several connecting sections which make possible many different configurations of widely varying lengths. I've never even driven on it; I've gathered all this just from the spectating areas (which are excellent, by the way).

Quote from samjh :"Never race a Mangy Horse". The circuit just doesn't flow right for me.

It's one of those tracks that feel like someone designed it specifically to make overtaking a pain in the rear.

I agree. Of the currently active F1 tracks Magny-Cours would be last on my list to add to LFS, although Bahrain and Shanghai are in close contention. The opening bend at Shanghai would be interesting, but the rest of it? Meh.

Quote from Mustang GT-R :no i dont got s2 so i wouldent even know about those cars

Oh, I misunderstood your question and didn't notice that you're still on demo.

What kind of wheel do you have?

Does it cut for long enough for the engine to drop in revs, or do you only notice it because of the green bar?

What car are you driving? The universal throttle cut aid was removed in Patch Y, but some cars still have it because their real-life counterparts do. The FOX, FO8, BF1, FXR and XRR (I think that's all of them) automatically cut the throttle while upshifting which enables the driver to just keep the throttle floored.

ATI Tray Tools will do this with the Refresh Lock feature. You can set a max FPS for each resolution.

Quote from March Hare :How long since you last reinstalled your windows?

This should be done yearly. Or monthly depending on usage.

There isn't any reason to reinstall Windows monthly. That's way too often. Reinstalling Windows is an absolute last resort.

Try either upgrading or downgrading your graphics drivers. When I first installed LFS I was constantly in the 20s FPS-wise. I rolled back my drivers to a slightly older version and my FPS tripled. You just have to find the version which works best for your particular system.

The keel of an F1 car is where the front suspension mounts to the chassis. The standard for many years was the V-keel and was used by all the top teams. A V-keel allows for easier and wider adjustability of suspension settings, at the expense of less efficient airflow underneath the car.

In 2001 Sauber introduced the twin-keel design, which replaced a single large keel in the center with two smaller ones on each side. This allowed air to move more freely to the floor and is generally more aeodynamically efficient, so it was favored by designers who favored aero efficiency over mechanical adaptability. Every year the design evolved and the twin keels got smaller and smaller, until eventually designers tried mounting the suspension directly to the chassis and eliminating the keels altogether. This is what we call 'zero-keel'.

In 2006 Ferrari and Renault both ran the older, more adaptable V-keel. Mclaren with Adrian Newey the aerodynamicist used a zero-keel layout. So did Toyota and Mike Gascoyne, among others. In 2007 when Rory Byrne left, Ferrari switched to a zero-keel. Renault was the only big team to stick with the old V-keel.

I haven't heard anything about whether the 2008 Renault is still a V-keel design. It seems clear that the trend is toward zero-keel because of the increased importance of aerodynamics in modern F1 design. With control tires and frozen engines, aero seems to now be the biggest area of improvement.

Come 2009 and the new aero regs, every car on the grid will most likely be zero-keel. This will probably be the final year of V-keel designs, so if Renault are sticking with it, it will be interesting to see how well they do.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

Quote :Key to this virtual reality is the use of an actual vehicle placed on a platform housed inside a 7.1-m-diameter dome, the ceiling of which serves as a giant 360° concave video screen. As the driver operates the vehicle, a tilt device, vibration apparatus, and other devices manipulate the dome — which has a longitudinal range of movement of 35 m and lateral range of movement of 20 m — under precision computer control. The result is a faithful simulation of the actual sensation of driving, including a sense of speed, acceleration, and riding comfort through turns and other driving maneuvers. Sound effects make the experience even more real.

Amazing.

Some of these layouts would require new pit areas and garages, which would be a lot of work. I'd love to see them though.

I need more GT2 tracks the FXR can hang with the XRR and FZR.

Yeah that's my favorite too. It has three new tight corners and uses the 'corkscrew' which is always fun.
