This is no argument, a game is made for the players and NOT for the developers!
I know a coulpe of game that had to be given up since developers thought they can do what they want without taking the players wished in conclusion.
(just in common theory, not that I want to say this was the end of LFS)
I realized that, too, not being able to downshift.
And I get more and more the feeling that you're left behind without specific hardware, without superior knowledge about how a racing-car has to be handled (is there any tutorial for it <<about LFS>> since in the end it is different compared to reality! ).
So I'm beginning to say what people say to me when I tell them about LFS:
>> That's just to complicated for me.
There are more and more parts that have to be trained and I don't have the necessary time, thus I'm really sad since LFS was the only racing game I liked.
I know how to change my setup, I developed mine on my own, the problem is that I as a "mediate player" simply don't have the time to always change the setup to different needs.
And changing the set to less tire heating will even make the set slower as already it became and since I know the nice feeling before I am not satisfied with that!
Well I got my own game "Schlacht um Kyoto" in development and I know I have to make changes and not everyone can be happy with them but some just have to be done.
But I try to keep player-depression but cut-downs as low as possible.
My favourite car was FOX on Blackwood since my start in LFS in 2005, but now the car I loved and the this awesome track are crippled in my eyes and now I have to question myself if I can leave those awesome times behind and become familiar with what has been made out if (but I doubt that at the moment)... :'(
What's the big point in development making tires heat that much? Or making shifting that... wired? It doesn't react, it suddenly looses all power just at the shifting point it won't shift down ect. whatever the logic is behind making control so much more complicated. Why not making a new track, what is the big develpoment in making people slower? Sure it's the same for everyone so there is no difference in theory, but knowing how much work you put in to be able to take this and that corner so fast (which gives you the thrill) and now seeing how lame it became now just drains all the fun.
And I think this actually is a matter of fun.
I like improvements in the physics, that's always what I tell others of LFS, but I don't understand such a bunch of senseless cutting down racers and making controls so wired.
That's just not the point!
Some people simply don't have the time to practice every day.
Even the last Patch threw me back and it took a long time (for me as no excessive player) to even get close to the times I reached before.
I just wanted to log in today, enjoy my set which I created during the last year and drive some laps with the line I trained.
I wanted to enjoy the work I put in and now I'm back again like a noob.
Maybe you who play very often don't understand that since you're kind of "satisfied" as you hat enough time to enjoy what you reached.
New is ok, but if conditions getting worse and worse per patch you know how fast you were able to take corners before and see that you're 20 or 30 km/h slower now it's just annoying!
Well I'll uninstall LFS and play with the X patch (when I even get the motivation to continue, since atm I'm just really pissed off) and wait for patch Z hoping things will get better.
But I doubt it since that'll cause a rework of setups again which will push me back even further!
Maybe LFS just became to complex for people not playing 24/7........ :'(
Not that I dislike improvements but for someone not driving 24/7 it slowly just makes me really angry being pushed far back where I just got my line and optimized my setup.
With what I saw while playing I really lost fun in playing my favourite car to this conditions.
