There's Danica mania fanboys who praise that Danica's the best driver there is and then there's Danica cynics who will NEVER be impressed no matter how well she's driven...
Seriously...this is getting ridiculous...the truth is somewhere in the middle guys...I mean...look what happened to Milka Duno.
Danica isn't great. But she isn't bad at all. Yes she's overhyped, but she isn't a sh*t driver unlike Milka Duno or Yuji Ide
Unlike Piquet she was fantastic. I mean...last to 7th. That is quite something. I mean...yeah...it's ARCA...but it's difficult to place well in ARCA cause of all the crashes. It's easy for someone from the top tier to outpace ARCA drivers (montoya, carmichael, patrick, etc) but it isn't easy to finish well and avoid all those ARCA wrecks.
Does anybody think that Nelson Piquet jr did a horrible job at ARCA?
Did anybody see that move against Danica that almost took her out? Jesus. Piquet...you HAVE to have more awareness...and this is in ARCA. This isn't even NASCAR yet.
Yes pearcy ur frustration is understandable. I share it. Seriously I do. I wanted badly better damage and aero so the oval racing part of LFS can be atleast semi realistic. It isn't.
But in all honestly, complaining will not get anywhere. Especially if the devs have already made up their mind on how this game's development will operate.
All you can do...is continue to play LFS. And if that gets boring or it gets too frustrating (cause it reminds you of too many unfulfilled potential). Than just move on. Again, there's games and there's a life outside of LFS. Enjoy those for now and come back to LFS when (or if) it suits your ideals.
It's what I do. I've scaled back in my LFS involvement. Yet I'm still here going round in circles. Despite it's flaws, LFS is still a great game and I will continue to play it for what it is.
Yeah, I'm fed up with LFS as well....but I'm not complaining. Hey...I'm still going around in circles at the KY1 and occasionally having a blast. But tbh LFS doesnt owe us anything and LFS doesnt have to update. In fact, it has updated much more than any other game or MMORPG for that matter so I'm already happy with it if it remains stagnant for the rest of it's days.
That being said. Yes, the devs needs to update or else it will die. But it is their decision and we cant do anything about it besides either being loyal or moving on.
So...in all this polarity...the middle ground is actually more in line with the truth (IMO). The people who complain DO have a point. I mean this is EXACTLY how an MMORPG dies (seriously). However, the people who defend LFS also have a point. Both sides have valid points.
Facts:
LFS is flawed. LFS is very much glaringly incomplete. LFS is slow.
The Devs dont owe us anything. They can decide to not update anymore and LFS will still be a great game (the devs of rFactor stopped giving patches to that a long time ago).
Complaining wont do anything. You can either stay a loyal (almost fanboyish loyal but still loyal...) or just move on. There's other games out there not to mention an entire life.
Well...for 1 NASCAR and IndyCar isn't exactly an underground sport. So the fact that the tracks are oval shaped doesnt really have much to do with it imho. 2 what ever happened to the racing for the sake of racing? Does it really matter if the hydroplanes race on a Nordschleife-like course compared to Daytona? Not really...the boats themselves are already a tremendous feeling in the first place.
Besides, by this point, it doesnt really matter if the boats go round and round in circle or a more complicated circle. The hydroplane sound is absolutely epic, they have an awesomely futuristic chassis (unlike NASCAR) and they look really cool when they gracefully glide on the water (and creating huge streams while they are doing it)
So...no my question isnt answered. If they were once popular why aren't they popular now? Did FIA take it over or something?
I think the hydroplanes are a little cooler. But the fact that it's racing on a very very tight and complicated course would call for a more minimalistic design. I'm more meh to those kinds of boat racing but I still think it's cool
Just curious, why does no one care about boat racing? Why does no one care about Hydroplane GP racing. I mean...yeah, they basically race in oval shapish docks...but are you really expecting Nordschleife for these things? but I've been to one recently in person and I think it was pretty awesome. Great sound, great speed, and really cool to watch...
Ok...now...I never really fully got a sure answer on this. I've heard many many things from multiple different people.
As most, if not all of you know, LFS calculates (or shows) down to the hundredth decimal place.
And, as most if you already know (either from experience or just plain logic) that calculation is usually not close enough for oval racing and finishes (and sometimes this isn't enough for circuits as well).
Does LFS even calculates below the hundredth decimal place? Is the scoring chart accurate if...lets say 1st and 2nd's finish time is the same?
Any clarification (or discussions) would be appreciated.
Sorry for the late response but those renders are great thanks
That looks wonderful John. The more renders we have the better. Keep me updated on your progress (and thanks for choosing to render our skins )
EDIT: JustForFunRacing...I noticed an error with your render. The left rear wheel is a little messed up. Here, this is the problem. Would you mind fixing it?
Yeah i understand that the video was just...well...racing with default cameras. But this race just happened like 8-10 hours ago. So I didn't exactly bothered to think about how to make this more entertaining beyond the intense racing.
I may remake it in the future...but probably not. This was meant more as just conveying that racing in the Kyoto 250 CAN be great without anything non-diagetic elements. I put this together quickly mainly cause lotsa people were a little disheartened by the massive amounts of cautions and crashes from the practice sessions
