Yeah, and yet it didn't stop Andrea Moda from being the most laughable team in F1 and possibly the history of motorsports.
Not that I'm comparing Andrea Moda to Virgin F1. I have no real knowledge of Branson and I do know that Virgin F1 is in better shape than USF1 so it likely wont fall to Andrea Moda's level.
I'm just saying. The idea that "people can just throw money in motorsports" has been a dangerous one Again...look at Andrea Moda
Because some very basic things that should be in a simulator are missing. I can still full throttle into a wall and be absolutely fine. I still fly into space touching, TOUCHING, a red barrier. People should retire after horrible crashes and can continue on fine.
Sound sucks, no engine damage, no clutch slip. Aero model is STILL incomplete. No night or weather change. No track temperature change. No dynamic wind
This is why I play rFactor as much as i hate rFactor too. The other sims have things that LFS doesnt but it works the other way around too. That's frustrating cause I want to only play LFS and not have to go to rF because i'm pissed at the retarded damage system in LFS and then get pissed in rF because rF has such a crappy collision and physics engine.
I could careless about the Scirocco. In fact, I would gladly trade THE ENTIRE ROCKINGHAM track (and I would absolutely love another oval...so that shows how much I desperately want improved systems and gameplay in LFS over content) and the Scirocco if we can just push LFS a little more on the gameplay side. Give me better sound, give me a complete aero model, and forgodsake fix the buggy collisions. Then I will be happy, then I could careless if LFS will gain new content.
Are these basic things just too much to ask? Yes, it's only 3 people, but it seems that they aren't even working on the (imo) more important things that make LFS...well...LFS. Toss out the Scirocco and Rockingham if it means giving us a solid sim that does all the basic well. I have yet to find a completely sim where everything is as it should be (even iRacing)
That this is how games die...it's a common death for millions of online based games before and it will be the #1 cause of death for the majority of online based games in the future and LFS is not immune to this.
I'm sure Nexon didn't intend to release Shattered Galaxy without any major updates for over 3 years. I'm sure Webzen didn't intent to keep Soul of the Ultimate nation in beta for over 1 year. I'm sure Blizzard intended to release Starcraft: Ghost. I'm sure 3D Realms intended to release Duke Nukem Forever someday.
Fact is, most of these cases as well as millions of others are cases where the developers have decided that they "did enough" or did not need to do more and the game died as a result. (shall I quote more? Space Cowboy Online (AirRivals), Rakion, Scion of Fate.) The devs HAVE to realize that the sim community is not necessarily that different from the MMO or the rest of the online gaming community.
Yes, the sim community will value quality engine and gameplay more than graphics compared to the average online gamer. But fact is, stagnant updating (if unbroken) will be the death of LFS just like all those other games.
Yes, I realize that it's only 3 people. Yes, I realize that they are recreating the physics engine for the Scirocco. But if this is delayed for any longer than half to 2 years. LFS will loose it's glory and the community will move on eventually. Maybe a few hardcore veterans will wait forever...but that will signify a game's death when there's no other group of players in LFS.
Of course this may not be anybodies' fault. The devs aren't a part of a mass company and they may have gained lives over the course of LFS. if that's the case, then LFS development will be excruciatingly slow...the same thing happens when a company adopts more than 1 MMORPG to develop. The result will usually be the death for the game but you cant really blame the LFS devs. It's just a fact of gaming really. Games come and go, rarely games last more than 5 years let alone 10. if it does, just enjoy it while it last.
I dont see myself as a nomad gamer. But the current state of online pc gaming has forced me to put things into perspective. When the time comes, I will move on and so will the rest of the non-hardcore LFS community (if that hasnt happened already). The devs better realize that the reason is the stagnant update and they can do something about it if they really cared about fixing this problem.
Oh...and just an FYI, Huxley (another Webzen game SURPRISE!) was due out in 2006 summer...I'm still currently waiting for it to get out of open beta Seriously research that game, all the info, shots and video will be from 2006 and it still isn't released yet LOL. Is it a surprise that no one cares about that game anymore? (yet i'm still waiting for it)
I wonder if anybody here defending the developmet speed realizes that 90% of Korean based MMORPGs or free2play MMORPGs in general are literally dead Because of very slow development speeds.
But then again most of you here probably don't even realize that poor development speeds have been the cause of death for so many MMORPGs or heck even standard (non-MMO) online based games throughout the entire online based game market...
Rakion, Gunbound, regnum online, shattered galaxy, beyond earth, infinity online, ferentus online, corum online, Saga Online, Face of mankind, AirRivals, starsiege:2845, the list is infinite to those who are aware of the online gaming market. I will mourn the day LFS is among those great or potentially great games.
1 year isn't bad. Heck I waited 2 years for lazy nexon to add A SINGLE new unit to shattered galaxy with no other new update (those of you who know what i'm talking about...yes I'm talking about those stupid lith-ubiks which turned out to be one of the worst units in the game and prompted me to quit)
LFS devs would be wise to learn from previous has-been online games and MMOs
Well Desire Wilson became the only woman to win an F1 race of any kind, when she won at Brands Hatch. But it wasn't the official F1 and in a series which mostly featured older F1 cars. (Forgot the name)
So...Branson wants attractive people right? Looks like Buemi has no shot at Virgin for the rest of his life
There were millions of people who never saw a F1 race because of pre-quali. But that specific one who didnt quali was Giovanna Amati and I only know her name because she's still talked about as the "last female in F1".
Anyways if you want to prove that you are serious, start by taking some criticism well. Other teams are criticized as well you know, but you should listen. I'm not asking you to bend over, but when this community does criticism often times they aren't doing it for absolutely no reason. Second, try joining some high profile leagues. I can guarantee you'll be more respected if you can actually qualify in iTCC. Thirdly, race cleanly casually or in leagues, even if it's a lesser league.
I'll wish you good luck because you will need it. I will say this though, I've always found the Johnny Lightning cars better than hot wheels but I do believe they are defunct so I doubt you get support from them...
I only see a reason to remove it if we get stock cars
The faster class bypassing the chicane while slower class using chicane racing at the same time is an interesting idea...has this been done before in real life?
