ChatGPT seems to have abit more tact than I do on this subject, so I'll leave this to them.
Hello fellow LFS enthusiasts,
I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to take a moment to discuss our shared passion for Live for Speed. It's a fantastic racing sim that has brought us many enjoyable moments over the years.
As you might know, it has been quite some time since the 20th-anniversary article teased new content and updates for the game. While I understand that the development team consists of a small number of individuals, I must admit that the prolonged silence has left me a bit concerned.
I want to express my appreciation for the work they have put into LFS thus far, and I'm genuinely excited about the potential updates mentioned in the anniversary article. However, it would be great to receive a status update on the progress of these promised features. Transparency is crucial in maintaining a strong and supportive community.
I also encourage everyone to share their ideas and suggestions on how we can improve LFS further. Let's collaborate and support the developers in any way we can. If any members of our community possess skills or knowledge that could benefit the development process, don't hesitate to step forward and offer your assistance.
Let's keep this discussion positive and constructive, as I believe that together, we can help shape the future of LFS. Thank you all for being part of this fantastic community.
You are able to change the font size of the chat in the top left corner. Wouldn't it be nice to also have an option to make it slightly transparent? This can be useful in vehicles like a bus where your mirror is also in top left corner.
I noticed this van is also used as police van on a server I drive on. If its not too much work, could you add a lightbar? Or like a simple police light.
As configuration
Hey Scawen I got an idea. What if you added a button to show hidden drivers models? So at the Option -> Driver menu you can have a button also show hidden driver models: the ones you normally "unlock" by holding ctrl+shift.
I think currently alot players dont know these exist/are accessable.
So i have this issue for a couple of days now. When I join a server, sometimes when its downloading skins/mods it loads super slow, or it even times out. But when Im on the server, I have no problem whatsoever with lag or anything. Also ive been told my ping is fine. Its just downloading skins and mods can sometimes take forever, like its stuck or something. Its not always tho, sometimes it just loads quickly, like normal. But alot of the times it goes super slow. It also happens when Im already in the server, I can see on the top right that its downloading a mod, but after a while it times out, while im still in the server having no connection issues with other players. Its the same with the website, for some reason it sometimes is super slow. Like even when trying to create this thread, it even took time to load the icons above the textfield (Bold/italic/picture/smilies/etc.).
Why is this? Am I the only one having this problem with (seemingly) the LFS servers?
I was about to make a thread on this. I totally agree!
It can be annoying to have to click "go" every 5 seconds, only to get a popup saying "host is full".
A queueing system would be great. So you click "go" and if it's full it could say something like "Host is full. You are now waiting in queue position 3/3" if you are the third person waiting, for instance.
Currently when you drive an electric car, and you let go of the gas, nothing happens, it just rolls as if it were in Neutral. It will regenerate electricity once you apply the brakes.
My suggestion is to make it regenerate when you let go of the gas pedal, just like alot of real life electric cars. So the "neutral" point could be when the gas pedal is at like 20%. If gas is let go (so its at 0%), the car will decelerate because it wil regenerate electricity.
Optional addition 1:
Make the brakes automaticly apply when the car is standing still, or close to standstill. This will give the player the option to use "one pedal driving".
Optional addition 2:
Give the player the option in the garage/setup to change how much regenerative braking the car will do when the gas pedal is released. Maybe from zero regenerative braking (like it is right now) to regenerating very strong.
Hey I like your Xsara mods, it really gives the vibes of that old french car
I say a player online using a police skin on it:
It got me thinking, could you make add like a police light configuration for it? Doesn't have to be all complicated and fancy, just a simple light will do
Could you also make a Left Hand Drive version of it?
And maybe would you consider adding a simple Safety Car skin? Like the gray/black/red LFS skin, but with SAFETY CAR on it or something. Doesn't need to be too fancy
Since we are still waiting on new updates, such as the improved South City map and the day-night cycle thing, what if the developers just unofficially released parts of it? Just like with the modding updates, players had the chance to download a patch manually, so they could play with mods, while the official update still wasn't out yet. The videos and pictures of the new updates seem promising, south city looks pretty done to me. If the other new tracks aren't fully done, that's fine. If the day-night cycle doesn't still work great, that fine too. But why don't they unofficially release a patch to get the new South City map, for instance? Yes, of course it may not be 100% finished, but if it's playable, I would like to drive on it, and probably lots of other players too. We've been waiting for so long now.
So my suggestion is to release patches of the unofficial/WIP/blah updates of LFS, and in particular the South City.
-Maybe put the default drivers point of view slightly backwards. Compared to other vehicles, the outside and inside mirror are not fully visible. In options, I can put my standard "seat" forward, but not backwards.
-Different configurations. The current one has police lights at the front that work as hazards/indicators. However, this is not always allowed on cruise servers like TC, as a civilian. Consider making a different configuration without the police light, and maybe with normal amber-colored indicators.
-Window tint. This could look very good on this car. You could make a seperate configuration for this. For instant: One default config, one with police lights, one with tint, and one with tint and police lights.
For the tint you can choose to tint all the windows, or just the rear ones, and leave the windshield clean. You can also choose to make this tint invisible from the inside out, or make it visible, like for instance in the GG55 mod.
-And a small suggestion: Engine power. The current rpm where max power is, is also around the redline. When driven with automatic transmission, when decelerating, the transmission tends to shift down very fast, to keep the RPMs high, at the red line. If the max power could be around 5,5k rpm, that would be nice. This might not be easy tho.
But a small suggestion:
It now has a H-pattern gearbox, while the real Prius has a hybrid drivetrain, where the transmission is a CVT. I'm not sure if you can have the CVT in LFS with a neutral and reverse gear, but otherwise you can just give the car a paddleshift gearbox, with just 1 forward gear. If that doesnt work too well, because of clutch temperature, maybe consider removing the ICE as a whole and make it fully electric.
Noice car. Works well as a safety/tow at the racetrack.
Just one thing, I noticed that the Safetycar setup has blue lights at the rear licenseplate, at the same location where the reverse light is, and they seem to blend/interfere with eachother abit. can you take a look at it?
Nice mod! IMO best bus mod out there. No nonsense, just a modern bus. Very gud.
But I have 2 suggestions:
- Side markers don't light up. It would would be nice if they light up when you press 3.
- Visibility to the right is bad. It would better if the front door would be transparent from the inside out. Picture:
