Slow load into servers with many mod vehicles
MicroSpecV

Probably more like a bug report.

This only occurred very recently, probably a week ago. PC and internet/isp has not changed.

Before the issue, I could easily load into (mainly) cruise servers within a handful of seconds, even with skin and mod download, as intended. Now, each skin takes something like 10 seconds and a mod vehicle takes 3 minutes to download - of which by the time the process is finished the server slot is taken up and I get the "Did not receive OK" error or Host is Full.

Sometimes, if a mod takes too long, it gets that Fatal Net error. No clue what that means either.

Hopefully there is a iterative update to fix this, and that it's not (again) a country-specific thing with the ISP. My ping is stable once connected to any server, so doesn't seem to be an issue on my end.

OFFICIAL RACE RESULTS PENDING
-------------------

The Skye Circuit, crafted by fellow layoutter Sinanju, played host to Round 3 of Layout Racing League, and drivers had much fun with battles throughout the grid!

Qualifying Result

It was Team Winners dod1slaw who grabbed pole from TAV's Suforr by a narrow margin, trading fastest lap throughout the entire qualifying session. Maty14 represented Master Race Car, with an impressive 3rd in front of Race Green's NOSLE and then S1DUS's Rik, who had minimal practice. AirAttack's Sean made a surprise entry in 6th, ahead of DLV. Total of 15 cars took qualifying, missing some key drivers whom could not make the event - still, the racing itself proved to be spectacularly good!

The race start

It was an good getaway and eventual win for TAV's Suforr, who passed polesitter Dod1slaw and never looked back, holding a strong lead as the rest battled for position behind him. Early spins from Raicyl and Radibiserow saw them drop out of contention, while contact in lap 1 through the fast chicane between NOSLE and Maty saw the latter drop to 7th, while Rik battled DLV and the recovering NOSLE for the opening few laps.

With subtle loss of aero from dirty air, drivers were encouraged to follow closely behind, which made long battle trains a spectacle to watch, in particular, a 5 car train for P3 held by NOSLE. A crash from TAV's Shini put him out of 13th and brought out the Safety Car, of which some drivers elected to pit, while others not - Suforr, NOSLE and Sean elected to stay out to try to build a gap.

Early safety car

Safety Car ended and immediately produced a spinner when Rik was facing backwards after car contact - the second of three spins he had, eventually recovering to a P2 finish after great late-race pace. Suforr was never challenged, leading from Lap 1 till the end, after having a big enough gap for a pit stop, courtesy for hard-fought battles for second place, led by the widest Skip Barber car driven by NOSLE.

Aeroplane crash

At the mid point, the five-car NOSLE train was at its peak, and through the chicane, a side-by-side battle turned sour when contact saw the Race Green driver gain some much-earned breathing space, with dod1slaw and Sean regrouping, albeit having lost a place each to Rik.

A podium of varying degree of effort

Eventually, dod1slaw found a way past NOSLE and took P3 to the flag, a far distance behind the rapid S1DUS's Rik in P2, who, in just 10 laps, closed a 16 second gap to just 6. With a couple of laps remaining, Race Green's NOSLE blinked first and made his compulsory pit stop, and with some fast overcut laps, AirAttack's Sean managed, just, to snatch away P4.

No one however, could stop Suforr, who claimed win number 2 of Season 5, a well earned victory in possibly an unexpected scenario.

P5 and P6 went to the Race Green duo of NOSLE and M@ciek who both kept each other honest in the final few laps, with Rubi narrowly missing out on snatching 6th from the latter right on the line. MRc's Texas finished in the points down in 11th, the last of the runners, having had zero laps of practice prior to joining - a valiant effort.

Provisional Race result

Layout Racing League returns on 08 March 2025 to a familiar and extremely fun venue - Scawen's Racetrack. One of the legacy layouts, certain to produce some fiesty racing. See you then!

Quote from Racon :Opposite problem here: I can't sink stuff into the ground if the ground is 0.00 - we have a bunch of old BLcarpark layouts that rely on that and we can't transplant them to AU. Also just been working on concrete ramps out of RO lake... which is about -2metres at the bottom. You have to use a slab at an angle to reach low enough for a ramp2 to reach up to it.

It would be nice if the lowest point of any environment was something positive, however little.

Ah yes, this, +1. Lowering the ground level is definitely needed. Pretty hampering for some layouts

Quote from plkrk :Hi there!
I have a question abut maximum objects in Editor, now we have 3k objects limit, what is the maximum capabilities of LFS in objects number in the future? Sorry if this question was asked before, simply i cannot find the answear.

Previously it was 2.1k, then 2.5k, now 3k. You can create lots of stuff with 3k.

Any higher and loading the map will be bit laggy especially on older pc or if you're layoutting on already complex skybox like Blackwood Industrial. Maybe wait for next major update with the updated main tracks - highly likely the minimum pc requiremeny will rise and with that also the layout object count.

The field take to the familiar sight that is Broker Hill, where plenty of wheel to wheel action and close battles were expected - and it did not disappoint!

Qualifying Result

It was half-redemption for TAV's Suforr, who grabbed pole ahead of MRc's Texas. dod1slaw was a repeat stunner, putting his car in 3rd for the start, along side Race Green's Mandula. Both SIDUS's cars of Rik and Gabor sat out the round. 18 racers qualified, however a total of 21 would see lights out for the race!

The race start

Off the line, it was dod1slaw and MRc's Atian whom got the best launches, with the former getting past Texas and slotting into 2nd behind Suforr. Maciek fell back after running wide at Turn 3, whilst Tbug had the hard task of climbing back up the field from dead last. With the first lap complete, it looked like it would be a four-car train for the lead, with Suforr unable to pull a decent gap out front and dod1slaw right up his gearbox. Further back, YES Motorsport's Sobis ran wide at the first turn, dropping from 13th down to 17th.

Dodlslaw battling with Texas for 2nd; the former would later finish 3rd.

Dod1slaw eventually hassled Suforr for the lead, however ran onto the grass and dropped back behind Texas, in 3rd. Surprisingly in all this, Suforr was still within touching distance. Meanwhile, Tbug was making good time, and was already up to 11th from his starting position, after battling hard with Goncalo and FSR's DLV.. However, Tbug slid wide on Lap 4, losing places before getting into a tangle with LG Mies down the bridge, through no fault of his own - all the good work undone. A few laps later, he would retire following a tangle with Race Green's Maciek into Turn 1.

Tbug spinning out on Lap 7, ending his race

Lap 8 saw the first pitter in the form of Atian, who dived in from 6th, and emerged into a battle with a DLV. A couple of laps passed where everyone found their pace and rhythm, and small battles continued to form around the track, with a recovering LG Mies battling with Goncalo, whose front tires were crying for mercy. There was even an exciting battle for 16th between nickmusi and Netariosk, both of which remained locked together till the finish.

Battle for 16th

Suforr running wide, lap 16

A mistake from Suforr during the lazy middle stint saw the top 4 close right up again, and all the work to extend a small 2 second lead reduced to nothing. dodlslaw and Texas were right there with him again, and would make the final stint with the pitstop a real challenge. Further down the field, VM's January was being chased by a trio consisting of DLV, Atian and Sobis, however he would fend them off to finish 8th, only conceding a place to Atian.

Lap 23 saw something special, with Mandula keeping his tires in the best health and finding extreme pace, passing Texas and then dodlslaw to get into 2nd, right behind Suforr. Mandula would blink first, performing the undercut on Lap 26, hoping to use his cooled tires to his advantage - which he did, as Suforr's pitstop the next lap saw him emerge behind. However, Mandula had an unfortunate tangle with a backmarker and would end up finishing only 4th.

Mandula showing ultimate pace, putting Suforr under pressure for lead

An unfortunate contact and loss of a potential win

In the meantime, a spin from LG Mies saw him make big contact with Nektarosk, sending his car skyward. Fortunately, both drivers were able to continue in the race. Up front, Mandula's excursion and Suforr's pit meant Texas was out in the lead, and lapping similarly if not quicker than Suforr. It was close, but after his pitstop, Texas emerged behind in 2nd, it was not enough.

Hard fought podium

It was TAV's Suforr who took the win, the full redemption after a shambled first round at Westhill for him. Texas finished 2nd, with dodlslaw rounding off the podium. A story of what it could have been for Mandula, surely he would have his own redemption at the next round. His teammate Nosle came 5th in a quiet race, while Sobis recovered to 10th just ahead of Redbot.

Quote from Vichon :Can anyone let me know if Lfs Tweaker is bannable? I wanna use it to stop tire wear when i drift because the tires wear out really fast

You can only use Tweaker in tweak-approved servers. You can usually see them in the master server named e.g "XBADTFS TWEAK DRIFT" or something like that - however in recent times with the inclusion of mods and more players, the need for tweak servers have dropped so we don't really see them now.

If you use tweaker program on regular servers, either insim will kick you for JOOS (vehicle desync) or the server host itself will kick you from their own anti-tweak insim.

OFFICIAL RACE RESULTS PENDING

Layout Racing League kicked off its 5th season with a great turnout at Westhill Cadet. With a new car to get to grasp with and a fast, flowing track, the drivers had their afternoon busy to squeeze the best they could out of their racecars.

Qualifying Result

Qualifying was a initially a tossup between TAV's Suforr and new entrant kyr1l?, however S1DUS's Rik showed top pace, lighting the timing screen with fastest lap after fastest lap, ultimately taking Pole Position by over half a second from Suforr, with a total of 26 drivers set to take on the 32 lap race.

The race start

The race started and a great launch saw kyr1l challenge Rik down into Turn 1, with Suforr going deep round the outside and running off track, with MRc Gabri following in sympathy. RG Falcon took his chance to pass dod1saw and kyr1l into Turn 3 however could not pull up in time, residing to 6th as RP's Lucas also caught the grass on exit.

Meanwhile, spins from VM's January and RG Lorenzo saw them drop to the back of the pack, and Suforr joining them with a punt by DLV. In the shambles, Rik streaked far ahead in the lead, building what was a half second lead into 2 seconds in just a lap. Lap 3 saw contact between dod1slaw and kyr1l at the end of sector two, wiping them clean out of the podium, with RG NOSLE barely avoiding the chaos. Team Race Green silently climbed up places and soon both their drivers NOSLE and Falcon were running in 2nd and 3rd.

Swift avoiding action sees a pile-up avoided

Fighting back through the field

As the race continued, Suforr, Lorenzo and Redbot (whom started from the pitlane) were slowly gaining back lost time and places. Similarly, MRC's Texas who had had only qualified 10th, was now the driver on the move, soon up to 5th place battling with kyr1l, who himself was regaining his composure.

As the laps drew on, it was still S1DUS's Rik far out in the lead, with the RG duo tussling for 2nd best, followed by another new entrant, Mugrilo, who was holding his own in 4th. Egorka suffered a spin and retired, and so did bozso, as the car's lack of downforce and slippery nature started to catch drivers out.

Lap 14 was just around the corner when Suforr, who had now caught up to Texas for 6th, attempted a bold overtake round the outside at Turn 6 and made it stick, however a cheeky poke down the inside by Texas caught him off guard - sliding off the track and spinning out in a huge cloud of dust. Unfortunately, RG Lorenzo came up on the stricken car too quick and made big contact, effectively putting both cars - and potential championship contenders, out of the race.

Texas escaped the shambles, just, with minor wing damage and soldiered on. We also saw great battles down the field, with MRc jsk dualing it out with resident streamer RG Maciek for 8th, trading paint and probably swear words before the latter decided to pit for clear air, and so did his team mate from 2nd, NOSLE. As the field slowly spread out, drivers got into rhythm for for once, the spins and incidents took a pause. Drivers pitted for fuel, or to complete their compulsory pit, as the laps trickled down to the final few tours.

kyr1l pits from 2nd, view of the elevated pit bridge

The last few laps saw a flurry of drivers making last-minute pit stops. Kyr1l eventually pitted from 2nd, letting by Texas, Falcon and NOSLE, the two latters eventually making up the podium. Mugrilo fought the freshly-pitted kyr1l for 4th, however had to settle for 5th after a valiant effort.

It was S1DUS's Rik Kardol who claimed an absolutely class victory at the season opener, grabbing the win by 23 seconds over the two Race Green drivers. MRC's Texas clawed back a rewarding 5th, and VM January finishing in the top 10 after fighting with GR Maty and FSR's DLV - a great result in his first ever race in the series and in the single seaters.

A dominant victory

Provisional Race result

The next round sees us back at familiar territory at Broker Hill, with the flowing, but tight course built on Westhill's carpark sure to provide action as it did for the past 4 seasons! We certainly can't wait!

If you have S3 why posting using alt demo account?

Anyway. No one can predict fluctuations in global currency and as such constantly changing game prices is not practical. Using any of the 4 countries engaged in conflict now for example, with the crazy dollar rate LFS would be like 10 cents by the end of this decade Big Eye

The developers chose not to go down the Steam route, and thats respectable to keep it privatised and independant. Also means there isn't someone (or a bot) constantly watching currency rates and adjusting. It's what it is.

Save up through hard work and you'll be able to buy almost anything you want. No one bargains at work for higher salary, you only put more effort in.

Edit: Reminded me of the price bands. You could request for your country to move into lower price band.

Vehicle information and trivia:

Season 5 of Layout Racing League sees a switch to a single spec car, the Formula Skippy by Kilo46. Like its real-life counter part the Skip Barber Formula 2000, the Formula Skippy is a primilarly mechanical-grip based open formula vehicle with modest power output and a simple chassis design. Focusing on the raw experience of driving, the car has little in the means of driver assists - no TC, no ABS and only a speed limiter for pit regulations.

The Formula Skippy is an easy car to jump in and get going, with a gradual learning curve around its road tires and minimal aero dependance. The car gets trickier to drive at the limit however, with very little in the way of rear tire slip grip when you do get into trouble, and not much front end if you do come in blazing hot, manhandling the steering wheel is a must to extract every last milisecond; shadowing the characteristics of the real Skip Barber academy car. The low power and torque output however means that both wheel, mouse or keyboard racers alike will be able to handle the car with reasonable ease.

Other attributes include low tire wear and heat cycle, low aero wash disturbance and notably, a higher-than-usual fuel burn rate from its inline-four powerhouse, which will mean fuel strategy and refuelling will definitely be an option for most races, as the car behaviour is noticably different with low to max fuel load.

Think you can come out on top? Join us on the 12-race season starting 25th January 2025!
