Layout Racing League - Round 9, Norisring, Race Summary

Layout Racing League heads to Germany for the final round of the season at the high-speed Norisring, famed for it's close DTM racing and long front straight. With the championship wide open, it was set to be interesting - and so it was, with [TC-R] Pete holding off his rivals to claim yet another win and his very first LRL Driver's Championship.

Qualifying

The unfamiliar track surface of the Norisring was an unknown for the majority of the drivers, with most unable to get to grasps with the lesser grip on offer. With the session turning into a proving ground for the field as they lapped and slowly found speed, it was [TC-R] Adam who set the early pace ahead of his championship-leading team mate, Pete, ahead of a surprisingly on-the-pace Pedro(17).

As the session wore on, Adam and Pete dipped into the 1:04s before the latter put in a lap to take provisional pole. Behind them, [6S] SIMOX and J.Pickard traded laps as they held down 3rd and 4th respectively, with [MRc] Michal in 6th and [LCS-R] Texas unable to find pace, stuck down in a lowly 9th.

Closing off the final qualifying of Season 1, it was Pete who edged out his team mate to get pole position and put him in the best position he could ask for for the race start!

Away we go for Round 9!

Team-mates make contact

With a long run into Turn 1, it was a case of best start. With an even initial launch, the front 2 depart side by side, with Michal in P6 getting an excellent start to draw alongside and past into 4th by the first braking zone.

A rare misjudgement by Pete saw the [TC-R] driver cut in front of his team mate and subsequently half-spinning, pinned against Adam's bumper in what was a mildly hilarious accident. However, this put Pete right at the back of the field, with work to do.

Optimistic overtaking by 3skimas

In all the chaos, 3skimas saw opportunities and managed to pass several drivers to leapfrog himself from 7th into 2nd by the middle sector, driving clean around the outside of Pedro.

Behind him, Michal repassed Pedro to retake 3rd after losing out in the turn 1 incident. [TC-R] Adam was also slightly compromised, now settling back down in 4th. A few cars back, a regular fast-starter GT4tube was now up to 8th, challenging [LCS-R] Texas for 7th as they begun the 2nd lap. [TC-R] Elmo had gained a position whilst [WCL] T.Soini dropped to the back of the pack after a poor opening lap.

Early pitters on Lap 1

Relegated to the back, Pete and Redbot chose to complete their compulsory stop on the end of the first lap, a move which would prove vital for their races later on. Emerging in 14th and 15th respectively, they were on the move with the clear track in front of them.

The final hairpin

After sustaining pressure from Adam, 3skimas finally let his defense down exiting Turn 3, allowing the [TC-R] driver to draw alongside and past for 2nd place, with a substantial gap to race leader, SIMOX.
Further back, the battle for 5th was hotting up between Pickard and Texas, both of whom were exchanging paint on several occasions.

3skimas attempted to get back at Adam on the very next lap, but instead failed, running way too deep into Turn 1, and allowing [MRc] Michal to get past for 3rd and barely holding off Pickard in 5th.

[LCS-R] Texas outbraking himself and wiping out J.Pickard at Turn 4

Lap 3 saw [WCL] J.A.Katila pit for an undercut, hoping to leapfrog the drivers ahead who were tussling for position. Somehow in all of the battling, GT4tube had now slid in between Pickard and Texas in 5th, before an error allowed Texas past again. 3skimas, who had been racing well in the upper mid-field, disconnected due to personal reasons, pulling out of what was to be a great finishing position!

At this very point on Lap 4, a fundamental error in the track resulted in a butchered Insim Checkpoint move which caused the timing system to briefly cut out, which saw [6S] SIMOX lose a lap on his tracker and bringing out a Red Flag soon after.

Due to the Red Flag and subsequent lap countback, the incident between Pickard and Texas was nulled.

The first Red Flag of the season

The drivers pulled into the pit-lane orderly for a positional re-dress, complicated by positioning issues and incidents that resulted in spectating. In the Red Flag period, main championship contender [6S] SIMOX, who had been leading the race, unfortunately left the server due to personal commitments.

The field weaving behind the Safety Car

The race restarted under Safety Car conditions, with new race leader [TC-R] Adam up front ahead of [MRc] Michal, J.Pickard and GT4tube, the cruise hero who was now up to 4th.

With no tire blankets in Live For Speed, majority of the field were now on stone-cold tires, aggressively warming them up for the race restart. Meanwhile, a poor connection by [LCS-R] driver Texas saw him drop out of the race and out of 5th position.

The race restarts

The field closed up for the restart, with Adam getting timing it perfectly to lead by a margin over 2nd.

GT4tube and Pedro(17) were locked in a battle for the top 5 placings as the front 3 slowly drove into the distance.

Battle for 2nd

As the laps wore on, it was clear Michal was holding Pickard up and slowly allowing GT4tube and the midfield to close back up. With a great defense, the MRc racer managed to fend Pickard off much to the latter's dismay.

In the meantime, the battling for 5th allowed the fast charging [TC-R] Pete to climb right to the back of the top 5, and was soon past both TGT4tube and Pedro as the championship leader sought for yet another win.

Carving his way through the field, Pete

With most of the field yet to make their stop, early stoppers Katila, Pete and Redbot were in optimal positions. And this proved it self once the first stint ended, with most drivers pitting and emerging behind these drivers.

Adam had pitted and emerged in 5th behind GT4tube, which handed the lead to [MRc] Michal before he himself came in for his pit stop a couple of laps after, not before battling with Pete, eventually getting passed.

A stunning comeback drive

With the laps running down and a huge gap, [TC-R] Pete brought his RB4 home for his 5th win of the season, clinching the championship in the process! His team mate [TC-R] Adam finished 2nd after an equally fine drive and great passes after his pit stop. [MRc] Michal finished a well-earned 3rd after a fine drive, equalling his best result, with [WCL] J.A.Katila in 4th with a well-planned strategy.

Further back, Redbot finished 8th after lack of pace following his ideal strategy, with [TC-R] Elmo finishing a lonely 10th and PitlaneRacer rounding up the points' finishers.

With a great comeback following the Summer Break, Pete wins his first LRL championship ahead of SIMOX and Trespasser. Congraulations!

Stick around for updates on upcoming events and Season 2, in the meantime, thank you for participating, and have a good one!

"No reply from master server" even when it is online

Hi, just a quick question if anyone is able to answer -

Just installed a new set of RAM and eager to get back on LFS. Booting up the game and clicking on Multiplayer throws up the "no reply" message after about 15 seconds of idling. Restarting the game does not resolve issue.

Resetted the Wifi, replugged the grey network cable, but to no avail. Contacted my buddy from same country and was told the Master Server is fine. I am able to access LFSW with no issue and the ingame account is unlocked.

Any ideas? IP block, ISP block, banned from server, any clues?
Any help appreciated, if not I'll just sleep on this one till the morning Tongue

Try adding the website and the keyword "lfspro" to the bad language blacklist.

We I think did that in our servers and it has kept them at bay, because they get kicked and then banned if they come back again.
May need to add "w w w . l * s p r * . n e t" spaced link to the blacklist as well now

If they keep coming we'll get a permanent IP ban for those users if we can figure out how, unless someone else knows how to Tongue

Layout Racing League - Round 8, Hong Kong, Race Summary

The pack returns from the summer break with Round 8 of the season at Hong Kong. A tight, fun street circuit that previously hosted several successful races, it was make or break for several drivers, and with only 1 race remaining after this, it was all to play for! [TC-R] Pete drove a fantastic, battle-ridden race to receive another win.

Qualifying

The streets of Hong Kong played host to another interesting qualifying session, with drivers struggling to find their own piece of real estate as the times tumbled. A flurry of drivers exited the pit-lane as the green flag dropped, desperately getting heat into their tires.

Championship leader [6S] SIMOX set the early pace before B2r Spiky dipped into the 1:02s, dragging Pete along with him. Not far behind was L.Rydh and Trespasser. [WCL] J.A.Katila had great consistent pace whilst [LCS-R] Texas fought his car to try and gain time. However, by the halfway point, Pete put in a perfect lap of 1:02.42, which would not be eclipsed, staying on provisional pole to the session end.

Spiky responded but was unable to match the pole time, with Trespasser recovering lost pace to somehow place his XFG in 3rd just ahead of Katila, the World-Class-Lions driver putting his best qualifying result to date. SIMOX and Teho Ngottini rounded up the top 6, with Texas back in 10th and [TC-R] Elmo off-pace in 13th.

It's go go for Round 8!

Drivers fight for position into Turn 1

The race began with equal starts from most of the field, with Trespasser braking later than Pete and SIMOX, taking an opportunistic move to take over in the lead. Further back, Katila and L.Rydh drag-raced down the back straight, with Katila holding position into the following sector.

Up front, the top 4 were nose to tail, with Trespasser determined to hold his lead and advantage. In the mid-field, B2r Rayman had made a poor start, dropping back several positions as the field swarmed past the first lap.

Quick starting Elmo in 9th

There were movers in the race, with [TC-R] Elmo and AA|Rane making up a handful of positions in the opening laps. With limited overtaking opportunities, the drivers stayed in station for the long-run, with only a few passes taking place, namely Kage around the outside of [MRc] KIG on the penultimate corner for 15th.

The leading duo pulling a gap early on

The pace of the top 2 was quick, with Spiky and the rest of the field unable to catch up. However, with the tussling between Pete and Trespasser becoming ever more rough, what was a 3-second gap was slowly eroding and by lap 8, Spiky was now back in the battle with undeniably better tire conditions. Behind Spiky, [6S] SIMOX struggled for early pace, hanging back in 4th with the mid-field now behind him in a Trulli-train.

A bold pass attempt for 6th

With the field stuck behind SIMOX, Texas took a bold move up the inside of L.Rydh, who left the door open and dropped behind Texas, only to get the drive out of the Turn 1 exit to re-pass into turn 2. Further back, Kage and B2r Rayman fought for the minor placings, swapping positions constantly as they battled.

The overtake for the lead

Lap 10 saw Trespasser's strong defense break down after a small mistake into Turn 1 allowed Pete to draw alongside into Turn 2, passing into the lead. A few laps followed with Trespasser attempting to hold on to Pete, however, failed as the [TC] Racing driver pulled out an amazing 11-second lead in a handful of laps.

Lap 12 saw our first retirement in the form of Kage, who retired with tire trouble.

With his lead gone, Trespasser refocused onto Spiky and SIMOX who were trying to find a way past. By this point, the pit window was wide open, with a nice gap in the mid-field if anyone was to drop into after pitting.

Elmo defending his position from Pedro

A careless blunder on Lap 15

With drivers waiting for each other to pit first, it was a tense situation up front. In a flash, a rolling XFG in the form of B2r Spiky brought out the FZ5 Safety Car. In post-race, Spiky remarked that he had thought Trespasser was pitting, and was going to follow him in - commenting that "you (Trespasser" took a wide line, I thought you were pitting", and clobbered right into the side of Trespasser, rolling over in a comical fashion.

In the mess, SIMOX had taken advantage and pitted just as the incident unfolded, with no one else except [MRc] KIG towards the back of the field taking this cheat pit stop.

SIMOX leapfrogs his competitors

With his undercut, SIMOX had emerged in 2nd, much to the dismay of Trespasser. Most of the field came in on the first lap of the SC period, with Biroot choosing to stay out for track position, hoping for another Safety Car situation later in the race.

The perfect restart by the top 2

The field bunched up as they got ready to get under way for the green flag. In a surprising move, AA|Rane had jumped the restart by a mile, overtaking several drivers under Yellow, which gave him a 25 second post-race penalty.

The race restarted with the top 2 of Pete and SIMOX instantly pulling a gap on Trespasser and Katila, who were asleep on the throttle for the green flag. In the few laps to come, SIMOX tried but failed to stay with Pete, with the leader racing into the distance. Trespasser had his mirrors full of L.Rydh, the latter getting past Katila for 4th.

A botched overtake into Turn 1

The third retirement of the race came in the form of LUXANNN, who retired with a disconnect near the back of the pack.
With the race settling into place, drivers found their own piece of track and spread out well as the second part of the race neared the end. Texas was coming under immense pressure in 6th place, after failing to find a rhythm at the restart, and having to defend hard from Ngottini and the rest of the pack behind him. Biroot had pitted out of his 6th place, falling near the back end of the points positions.

With the laps tumbling, drivers were unable to find ways past each other, except on the final lap, where the battle for 8th with Elmo, Rane and Pedro heated up, with Pedro missing his braking point into Turn 1, diving past Rane and up the inside of Elmo, knocking the [TC-R] driver aside and letting Rane past as well. For his troubles, Pedro received a time penalty, promoting Elmo back into his position.

A stunning victory after races absent

However, up front it was yet again [TC-R] Pete who put in another rewarding performance to claim victory and fastest lap at Hong Kong, vaulting him past SIMOX in the championship by one singular point. SIMOX himself finished a distant 2nd, ahead of Trespasser who retained his podium ahead of L.Rydh.

Katila finished a respectable 5th, ahead of the struggling [LCS-R] Texas. Further back, Elmo earned a nice 8th place, with Biroot in 11th following his poor strategy choice. Pedro rounded off the points positions following his penalty.

Driver's Championship as of Round 8

Pete has now retaken the championship lead after his brief absence, with SIMOX on the back foot and Trespasser now out of the championship chase. Who will be LRL's first champion?

Quote from ImudilaSkyline :so it basically has nothing to do with demo racing in generalUhmm

Hmm, well if it wasn't someone I knew (to be fair I haven't seen Storm in a long time) then the relevancy would be more on point, but the point is about the level of racing demo should inculcate, or the rules or etiquette - because sometimes people feel demo is like a field of mines, while others feel its just a more populated version of S1-3 LFS

Using such risky move in an outside leagues environment where not everyone can read your true intention is pretty risky, he can pretty well just kept his racing line, or worst, closing in too soon (if he is confused by your move) for you to pass.

Yeah, but I've known Storm for a long time and had battles like this a few times - luckily we both trusted our abilities Tilt

@Greybull
Kinda, but demo guys who get their License usually migrate away from demo - hope this trend gets broken though!
Hard racing in Demo - Too much, or just not enough?

We all know that Demo servers are one of the most patronized category here on Live For Speed, and besides league racing, some of us racers get our daily dose of speed battling around in the enjoyable Demo cars.

However, there are certain situations where new drivers, or, newbies would rather spoil the fun and leave the more experienced racers trailing in their dust and bodywork.

This post is to gather your views on the demo racing situation, and also your opinion on a executed passing maneuver that unsurprisingly attracted a lot of flak; both from supporters and adjudicators of safe racing in the demo community.

> In the comments section below, feel free to post your views on what Demo racing is to you, and what you treat Demo racing servers/Demo races as - a challenge and chance to adjust racecraft, or, an opportunity to pass time and educate beginners; or both!

Part 2

Is this move legitimate?

The classic dummy-pass

Hard racing in Demo has always been lacking from time to time, and certain community members have different views on how Demo racing should be.
An example is move shown above that received differing opinions, with some choosing to cite the lack of experience that is a huge part in Demo racing, and also the harshness of the pass.

On the contrary, others have remarked at the execution and timeliness, bringing up the point that faster drivers would not be contented to just sit behind the slower driver.

(Poll on thread header)
Discussion :This maneuver - is this a legal move, and if not, why isn't it? Would you encourage more of this hard racing in LFS; should demo racing be any different to licenced?

We all look forward to hopping in our virtual race cars and pushing ourselves to the limit, reinventing our ability and finding new opportunities to hone our skill. Let's push on into 2019!

Quote from PikaTutoriales18 :Do I really need to show you my friend for a profile picture? You really can't believe me? Do you know that I want to have a better computer so I can play with many of you and now you tell me that you can't believe me for a simple photo? And now you tell me that I am a simple liar who is no longer welcome to this amazing game?Confused

It's not that we don't believe you or want to doubt you - its that others in similar apparent "situations" have asked for help or technical assistance and people responded, only to find out the user isn't legit and that the community just gave him help to code an Insim for his cracked server, for example.

Like I said, if you are honest then fine, I take that back. It's just that it gets hard sometimes to spot who is telling the truth and who is lying, especially with the rise of the silly cracked communities.

Anyway, I believe you now, and let's help you design a DP.

Quote from PikaTutoriales18 :this image is from a friend that I liked very much, I told him to use a skin that I made and it seemed very nice to me

Sure... I believe that, cool story bro
Running older, non master supported version of LFS for no apparent reason as well, sure lol

Just bare in mind the community pretty much condones any cracked LFS users or those using LFSp, if you do crack the game and then ask for help or services then you're not welcome here at all.

If you are indeed honest and you're a demo user then sure, I guess we can help you design a profile picture, but you've spared a ton of info - not much to go by in terms of what you want for your profile pic. Schwitz
