Quote from logitekg25 :they did the studies, and if you see any danger coming you can easily just drop the phone. thats what you automatically do anyways

"Easily just drop the phone" you say, adds at least a second to your reaction time. That's about 14 metres of distance at 30mph, or the difference between stopping in time and hitting a person at ~24mph.

Quote from marsaz :Speaking to someone inside the car while driving one handed would be just as dangerous then.

That depends on your passenger, but even the most ignorant passenger would be able to determine when and when not to talk to the driver. A passenger is also a second pair of eyes and ears, a cellphone is not. It's dangerous as well, but far from being the same.

I have a habit of putting my right hand on the gear lever in LHD cars, but for some reason I don't do the same with my left hand in my car, which is RHD.

I left around 5am UTC+1, the minor damage to the underground passage / tunnel was the only thing I noticed (and corrected), was maybe 3 or 4 blocks of glass missing.

Sidenote: fuuu MC.net!

Lerts is slowly being restored, largely thanks to mamorunl
titanLS/nycska's tree house will take time and we can't reconstruct it ourselves. Paintings have been collected from outer walls, if anyone actually really had a painting on the outside, sorry! They're currently in mamorunl's possession.

Everything else we tried to reconstruct from memory and using pattern recognition where applicable.

Quote from -NightFly- :and someone flooded the tunnel (underwater).

That was the last thing I fixed yesterday before I went off, was only flooded in 3 locations though, nothing major. City was fine then, no fire.

My tower was messed up not long ago though, glass smashed in that kept the lava away, some of the lava mixed with water, but luckily not at the top (where it would have made obsidian) - took a while to repair.

I'm all for a whitelist reset, shame that it's necessary.
€: And I think only LFSers should be allowed in.

[.^a-z] WILL match . ^ and a-z, if you want it to NOT match those you have to start the character class with the circumflex (^) to make it a negated character class. The behaviour of most special characters is different inside character classes because, in fact, they are not special characters in them. Circumflex at the very beginning means "negate" but anywhere else in the class it'll just be the circumflex character.

Which I hope you won't use. There is a reason this is virtually exclusively done with <select>, it's reliable, much faster and easier to use and is language independent.

A regex that filters months or even complete dates from full text would be interesting, but from a text field that is expected to only contain a month's name anyway? I understand you wanted to get this working just to learn from it, but you should also understand that that was its sole purpose, it's not really useful

Quote from Zay :Hey guys, just wondering, is there a free demo version? i like to try it before i buy it.

Classic is free and gives you some idea of it, although there are no mobs and you don't have to collect the materials. You can play it directly on MC.net

Quote from dawesdust_12 :$2000 a year really isn't that much to pay for the coverage I get ($2 Million).

Actually it is. I'm paying 600€/year for 10 mil € coverage, minimum in Austria is 6 mil.

Quote from jetter10 :yeah.. the wheel still turns more then the set amount...

It should apply full opposite FFB at the boundaries, that's the only way the wheel has of limiting the rotation.

I'm pretty sure you can set up a private host without CPW by setting it to /usemaster=no

e: NVM, won't help because LFS doesn't permit connecting via IP/Hostname:Port outside the private ranges.

Do yourself a favour and use a cheap joystick or gamepad as basis. LFS expects continuous "on" to remain in gear, i.e. your gear lever will have to push and hold the respective button for as long as it remains in gear, it will automatically jump to neutral as soon as the button is released, thus rendering a neutral switch redundant.

Quote :One key area still challenging engineers in most U.S. vehicles is the front bumper. For vehicles in Europe and Asia (where there are many more pedestrian collisions and governmental standards regulating them), bumpers are designed with larger crush space and with different supports for the plastic bumper cover in order to reduce leg injury. Unfortunately, these "softer" bumpers don't perform well in the 5-mph bumper test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) to assess repair costs, so they generally aren't used on vehicles in the U.S.

http://www.edmunds.com/car-saf ... rough-vehicle-design.html

Interesting. Did not know that.
€: To clarify, I meant I didn't know that the U.S. doesn't have strict pedestrian safety rules.

Quote from logitekg25 :i think id care more about the car's weight then a little metal that sticks out a half inch

if you get hit by the bumper, it will give a quarter inch, cause its designed to hit other cars, not a lightweight human.

A little piece of metal that sticks out is like a spear tip, it pierces rather than distributing the force, like a bull bar.

And bumpers ARE primarily designed to hit people. The stuff behind them (strengthening beams, deflector beams, etc.) is for collisions with more rigid objects (other cars, walls, trees, ...)

You can disable the automatic clutch in Options -> Driver, that way you can shift an H-pattern manual in Sequential mode but will still need to use the clutch (unless you rev-match, as you could with a real manual)
€: Correction, apparently you cannot rev-match in Sequential mode.
