I, for one, am totally going to get me one as soon as they implement some sort of artificial intelligence. Think about it, only some 20% more plastic than the average American woman, but at least 20% more brains as well

My apologies ladies, I just couldn't resist

Some good ones, but finding those gems within actual source code is still more amusing

Slash and Backslash have special meaning and must be escaped (^d = \, ^s = /). Your host appears nameless because everything after "^3" is considered a comment.

/host=^3^s^s!^d^d

yields the expected result

And broken asked him to post the solution so others who might encounter the same issue can apply it to their code.

Back when the negative handbrake issue (often dubbed NOS mod) was around, I asked via contact form whether it was okay to post my "counter-hack".
Quote :Hi again,

Ok, we think it's best if you no longer pursue your project, for the
following reasons :

1) we are working on preventing the cheat ourselves via our own anti-cheat
protection mechanism. We hope to solve this over the weekend (no promises)

2) we prefer people not posting information like multiplayer position
packets on our forum. To have a lot of people know the format instantly may
cause some people to get weird ideas.

3) if point 1) doesn't work for some reason, we could potentially implement
our own car position monitoring and basically make what you had planned.

But if point 1) works (and it should) there should be no reason for your
application. That's a better option too because noone will have to run a 3rd
party app along with their host (easier).

Thanks for mailing us in advance,

Victor

And personally I agree with Vic, even though it doesn't make a big difference to those with malicious intent.

Regardless, I will reply to your PM eventually, don't worry

I'd prefer the original MOV over FLV though.

IIRC it's a piece of "advice" given in Underground 2.

Quote from RasmusL :And that is only handling one part of the question - the number of bolts. PCD, sizes etc. are also different between cars.

Which makes sense because not all cars are designed for the same purpose or to the same durability requirements. A vehicle designed to travel at high velocity and/or carrying cargo and/or being raced (... you get the idea) differs from a light, relatively slow city car. Needlessly large hubs mean unnecessary added unsprung mass, unfavourably high moment of inertia and increased production time and cost.

Stunning! I particularly like the lion, would love to have it in at least 1920x1200 :bowdown:

Quote from MadCatX :That IP you specified in cfg.txt has to be IP of the computer LFS runs at. LFS doesn't send anything anywhere, it just listens on a certain IP/port and waits for an OutSim/OutGauge app to connect. Only when the connection is established it sends data.
You also shouldn't use the same port number for OutSim and OutGauge.

That's incorrect, you confuse InSim with OutSim/OutGauge. OutGauge and OutSim information is sent via UDP to the host/port specified. It doesn't care about whether the same port is used either.

NathanE, were you on track when you tried it? Or watching a replay? Mode 1 limits the output to live driving, mode 2 will also send information from a replay.

Quote from herki :Because it uses like one elementary operation less? PHP itself is slow enough that that won't make a difference.

Believe me, if it's performed for every car on the track at a frequency of 20Hz, it does. Especially if you're hosting on an ancient Celeron 2.0.

Obviously in this particular case, this would be more efficient:

<?php

// Calculate Distance

$X abs($cCoords->$lCoords->X);

$Y abs($cCoords->$lCoords->Y);

$Z abs($cCoords->$lCoords->Z);

$this->DISTANCE[$PLID] = sqrt(($X $X) + ($Y $Y) + ($Z $Z));
?>

Quote from Dygear :I wonder what the TCP / UDP network packet data is ...

Well I figure it's probably not the best idea to discuss here, but the 68-byte position packet does contain a lot of useful information not accessible via InSim. As I said, though, I'm just not so sure Scawen / the Devs / the Mods will appreciate a discussion of this nature, seeing as it exposes a vital component of client <-> server communication.

Options -> Controls
First of all, make sure the top section there is configured correctly, i.e. wheel / joystick is selected, wheel turn, wheel turn compensation, etc. set according to your preference (I recommend 900° or 720°, compensation 1.00, force 100), throttle / brake axes set to separate... you get the idea.

Now click Axes/FF, pretty much in the center of the screen both vertically and horizontally, in the row of small buttons. There you will find a list of axes on the right and a list of functions they can be assigned to on the left. Simply click a function (the label / name) and then the axis to assign to it

Well as long as you're aware of that, all is well I suppose
At least with the limited abilities of your van, you won't be tumbling down the valley at high velocity... although on the other hand, better brakes might prevent you from tumbling down at all.
