Racing Simulator at my college, running LFS

Wooo,

my college has developed a racing simulator (a tripod with electric linear-drives) that has been used by many companies for testing and developing purposes so far, but now it's back and running LFS as usual

We are having a challenge atm, students get 10minutes to practice and 2 laps to hotlap. First price is beer

FXR on Bl Gp..... with automatic gearbox and a really crappy setup

Most of them are doing 1:20-1:30, never having played LFS before.
I did a 1:12 today in practice, which is still 4secs faster than the guys who work at the simulator Hope the beer is mine.

Gonna post some better pictures soon.. fun stuff!

Quote from bas.peters :Hi all,

There are a few little things I miss in the game lfs:

Suggestion 1: Add the ability to set the windscreen wipers switch on.

Suggestion 2: When you turn the lights on, you hold the button to let them work. It would be nice that you can put them on or off by pressing a button.

Suggestion 3:
It would also be nice that the rear lights also have the ability to light up.

Suggestion 4:
If your engine in neutral gear 10 minutes running full throttle, the engine is not blown. In a real car that it happened.

If there is, LFS is perfect!

Regards,
Bas

That's just pointless sh*t. Every single suggestion. 110% useless.

what are you, a cruiser?

Why not just remove every corner and make Blackwood an infinite straight?

You must have gone mad... "really annoying esp when racing at highspeeds"

Dunno, i've tried covering the internal gears in lots of grease, but that didnt silence it too well..

I've heard something about using graphite grease for the gears, but I never tried.

Quote from Gekkibi :So, if you do myth called "real life", how come you still play LFS with your internet-friends? Instead, shouldn't you do things with your real friends? And have you noticed that you are "roleplaying" racing situations while racing in LFS..? You should find the meaning for word "roleplay" before arguing about this.

Does playing LFS mean having internet-friends? No.
Does playing LFS mean I don't do anything with my friends? No.
Do you know anything about me? No.

So shut up, I'm not interested in any more arguing.

Quote from Gekkibi :I hope you are not serious, as I can turn your sentence against you:
"Why don't you (all) get a life, so this whole racing-simulator is dispensable?"

Wrong.
I can't do racing in real life, I can't afford a racecar, neither am I allowed to take part in race.
But, I socialize (is that the term?) and get in contact with others in the so called "real life" so there's no need for cruising nor roleplays.

Quote from hazardboy :Well, this is the Live For Speed General Discussion. So this post is not wrongly placed. And LFS is not only about racing If it was, why put in the "cruise" option on servers?

Because flaming and ranting at cruisers didn't work too well, apparently.
This hiding-cruise-servers thingy was a gift/relief to us racers, not a statement about wether cruising is supposed to be a part of LFS or not.

Why don't you all get a life, so this whole cruising-roleplay-nonsense is dispensable?

Quote from RAM0011 :PS : FXO better then XRT !

Yea, better to give it to your wife, she can handle this Fwd shoppingcart.
What's the point of that statement?

That's the point.. the UF Baby R isn't fast, but that doesnt mean you don't need any skills to race with it.

A monkey might be able to keep this thingie on the track, but it needs knowledge of racingrules and common sense (which some seem to lack) to have a fair and 'good' race..
Especially because races with the UF Baby R are that close, correct behaviour gets really important.

I was a bit surprised about 1) some drivers' behaviour and 2) the "administration"´s behaviour..
It's for beginners, yes, but I expected some more seriousness..

Quote from samjh :As I'm trying to perfect my driving using Default, only Default please, no Race_S.

Once I'm consistently fast on Default, I'll start fiddling with setup.

Why waste your time using a setup that's just poor..?
I don't think you get any advantages by getting used to default.

Quote from 1000bhp :the clutch wears way to easily i find, with just slipping off the track in the demo cars they burnout and the clutch goes, this is very un-relistic and should be fixed in the next patch.

Well, flooring it while you're spinning isn't too smart either

Please learn racingrules and apply them, then you'll avoid trouble.

I see his point though, I also hate midrace-joiners :chair:

At least those who don't cooperate and act like they have a total lack of common sense.. but anyhow, how important can a grid-position in a pickup-race be? Get your qualytimes inrace!

Quote from nmx :You need a burnout set I think. For example on FBM you lower the car rite down etc so it cant move and if you set it up right it'll make tons of smoke.
