I've always liked 3-wheelers, ones with 1 wheel at the back. I remember a nice one from a while ago but never knew the name, it looked vaguely something like this:

http://www.ccpc.net/~jaho/images/jmp/pic19.jpg

But a single-seater maybe. I'm sure it was on top-gear. Kinda line an old-style F1 ferrari shark-nose, but one wheel at the back. Mmmm.

Whilst searching I found this though;

http://www.cartype.com/page.cfm?id=1117
http://www.cartype.com/images/page/vw-GX3_wheel.jpg

Rather cool, but again it's a 2-seater.

I just found these (Tiger Racing ERA HSS) & think they would be fun to race in LFS:

That wheel should work under Linux; common devices get drivers (even if they are made by MS) and that wheel must be pretty common. This says it does have drivers:
http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~vojtech/input/hardware.html

And this suggests it should work also:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/ ... 138/sort/2/cat/443/page/1

I have yet to get LFS to work on newer veresions of WINE, but I did play LFS on the pre-beta wine versions (without force-feedback), but I may try again from source as I was using Slackware .tgz packages for the betas thus far. I also have toasted my Win98se system after upgrading as it can't handle my new hardware, so may give Wine a bash, otherwise I may 'need' to buy WinXP.

However unlikely, I still wish the devs would make a Linux client
I asked devs from netkar pro and they aren't going to do it.

I just got Trigger for my Linux system, worked straight away... makes a change It's not that bad, just driving around a checkpointed terrain map, kinda weird steering, but easy enough to blast through the quick rally series, it took me 3 attempts to find out where to go on the Old MacDonald track, I can't be bothered going through it all again though. Good effort.

The other game I look forward to on Linux/cross-platform is Motorsport-Sim;

It was all in British pounds. £££££ moneh! I just spent over that on my AMD X2 system upgrade, arrives on monday... cant wait!

£584.73 British pounds = $1030.64 US dollars.

Maybe stuff is cheap in America, quite possibly. eBuyer is a pretty cheap place here in the UK, to my knowledge anyway. But it is probably now always the case that buying a pre-built system is cheaper, the above list is all for separates to do a self-build with. I prefer to self-build my own PCs. Fingers crossed my new one will work ok...

But, using the ibuyingpower ValuePro configurator thing-ama-jig to make up a similar system to my one comes to $1016 USD, and that's with a 6800XT rather than a 6800GT, so my system was similar in price, but the mobo I chose maybe wasnt quite as good. But then there's VAT...

Anyway, I hope Leifde has some fun with his new PC.

No problem. The motherboard on your system is MicroATX, but that's not a problem I suppose.

I'm not promoting eBuyer or anything, other good shops I've used before: Dabs, Savastore, Chillblast. Delivery would likely be £8, seeing as my recent order included two ATX tower cases and it was £8.

Also note: I've not researched any of these parts to see how good/compatibe they are.

Edit:

I just saw you would like a better graphics card, so here's one:

Point of View 6800GS 256mb TV/DVI PCI-E
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer ... WV3&product_uid=99318
£116.58 ex.VAT.

This takes the total to £584.73 ex.VAT, £687.06 inc.VAT.

I didnt include that crazy floppy/multireader thing, and I also wouldnt advise two optical driver, unless you copy stuff like CRAZY! I doubt anyone needs to write to DVDs! and 160GB HD is rather a lot also; you can easily get a second one at a later date when necessary.

PS: If I'm doing anything wrong/disallowed by posting links to a shop on this forum, please let me know/delete them.

WOOOHOOO!!!

Thanks bLaCk VaMpIrE!

Quick recap;

1. Load Blender,
2. Delete the cube (don't need to remove the camera & light),
3. Import .3ds model,
4. Scale 's' to '0.00001',
5. Rotate 'r' around the 'x' axis '180' degrees,

See the attached render if you want.

Thanks again!

Hi,
I only have blender (the free 3D render program), but it cannot import/open the .max files (I think from Ian.H's website). Could anyone provide the models or scenes please, which would work in blender so I could play around with making my own renders from my skins? If this is even possible. I'm not in linux at the moment so i can check what file types it can open if anyone needs to know.

Natively it opens and creates '.blend' files. Here's what it can import:

3D Studio (.3ds)
AC3D (.ac)
COLLADA (.dae)
DEV Object File Formats (.off)
Lightwave + Materials (.lwo)
MD2 (.md2)
Motion Capture (.bvh)
Nendo (.ndo)
Paths (.svg, .ps, .eps, .ai, Gimp)
Pro Engineer (.slp)
Radiosity (.radio)
Raw Triangle (.raw)
TrueSpace (.cob)
Wavefront (.obj)
Wings3D (.wings)

I use the latest version 2.40.

Thanks,

mr_spoon

I spent some time compiling this list as I liked the trip down memory lane:

FPS:
- Doom 1 & 2 (and much fun creating levels with DEU).
- Dark Forces.
- Quake2 (especially the ActionQ2 mod, best mod ever). Virtually skipped Q3 as AQ2 was so good. Quake1.
- Unreal (ooh, pretty graphics).
- Doom3 (play it alone in the dark, scary... aah, hehehe).

Adventure:
- Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max (both abosolutely brilliant).
- Broken Sword 1 (got BS2 but still not played it).

Racing:
- Lotus Challenge, F1GP & GP2, Micro Machines, Skunny Kart (MarioKart clone for PC), SuperKarts.
- NFS 2,3,4 & Porsche 2000 (all just multiplayer/split-screen).
- Live for Speed, S1 & S2.

Other Sims:
- Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, MiG-29 Falcrum, TFX.
- X-Wing, Tie Fighter.

Others:
- Sensible Soccer (a demo with an exploding football, hilarious).
- Scorched Earth (multiplayer magic).
- Utopia (ancient obscure strategy game).
- Warcraft 2.
- One Must Fall (probably still the best fighting game on the PC).
- Worms (not any later versions as they aren't as 'pure').

Sorry for the long list, it isn't just all the games I've ever played and I did have to edit some rather good ones out, it really is just the most enjoyable/memorable ones. I got into Linux a few years ago so my gaming isn't quite so prolific now.
